Wait, I don't mean to sound condescending, just I am utterly astonished.

You've played since at least February, (looking at joining date) and you've NEVER washed your footbag(s)?

And yes, the link above is a good guide...

Not sure about an abshire, but when I only have soap and no baby oil etc to soften it, just get the bag a little wet before you shred. Not soaked, just damp, a quick run under the faucet and a bit of masssaging. (in regards to a footfighter)

Yeah that seemed to work. I took a shower with it and washed it with soap. Kicked it for awhile and when it dryed I used baby oil. Its a lot more shreddable today than yesterday. I wasnt expecting that to work as well as it did.

If a bag is stiff after you wash it a good finger roll will fix it. My Footfighter got stiff all the time, so I just basically "re-broke it".

Plus, I don't trust baby oil. Only soap.

I've never used baby oil after washing my bags? Does it help?

I usually just finger roll it after washing it, and it seems to work.

After I wash my bag, i soak my bag with fabric softner, and the bag doesn't come out stiff.

I think it works but I was also breaking the bag in with my hands and kicking it while wet.

bags end up getting stif once they are clean again.probably just didnt get all the soap out. as soon as you roll them for a minute, they should be fine. footfighters are notorious for that. abshires just take a while to get them nice no matter what you do.

i wouldnt give advice to do anything to a footbag other than kick it. finger kneading is bad, and oils and shit are probably worse. (as far as perserving your bag for as long as it can live)

Why is finger kneading bad? I dunno about you but I don't have hours and hours free to stand around kicking a bag to break it in (and some do take ages to break in) so I knead them. I would have thought kneading would be less damaging than kicking?

i think what he means is that if you rub the bag across the panels itll be bad but if you squish it itll be fine.

i dunno... oils might not be good for lead. antibacterial soap works great. i wash my bags in the shower too... just make sure it rinses out well and kind of dry it off with a towel when youre done. that works for me.

ps. atws in the shower is fun.

If pilling is a problem, I have a solution for it (though, imo, I doubt it would be recommended for anyone unless they understand the time and risks that come into the procedure).

You just need one simple item: New Skin Spray-On Liquid Bandage. Wild, huh?

Basically, just lay your pilling footbag (dry) on a surface like a paper towel or a newspaper spread and, from a distance of 16 inches (past forearm's length I guess), begin spraying lightly and evenly around the bag. I suggest coating the bag with 1-2 coats to ensure even cover. Do not spray too close or too much on one certain area. If the fabric gets too dark or the surface gets shiny from spraying, that means you're doing too much. After coating, knead short and quickly and just toss it between your palms to get it dry. Again, avoid spraying liberally or you will stiffen the bag too much. Simply put, this is just adding another layer onto the facile, albeit temporary. It will help reattach most of the pilling facile back onto the fabric.

The result is a bag much stiffer than before the coating. I understand that, and this is what you want. Now you just simply go and wash it liberally. I suggest a body wash with a gentle moistening formula (with oils and whatever) to help with the wash. Kneading while washing helps a bit, but don't be too aggressive. Sure, you'll be stuck with a weird feeling bag, but you just only need to break-it in again, through kneading or kicking while it's dry, and in time it'll be choice, without much problems from pilling.

I did this on two bags: my first abshire and a Johnny Suderman. My abshire took about 3-4 weeks to re-break in after this whole thing and probably another week to get the feeling of "crustiness" out with more hand kneading. Now it's one of the choicest bags in my collection, without any fear of further pilling. I'm currently working on my Suderman bag with this method (it's now drying). There's a lot of time, dedication and risk from this, so that's why I don't really recommend it.

Oh, and you'll have to mind the smell, of course, but that goes away in a few days/sessions.

That's about it. Peace.

YES!!!!!!!! IM NOT THE ONLY ONE. hahahaha. Mucho fun. Except for the whole possibility of slipping and dying but isn't it worth it sometimes? I was wondering if i could do something more complicated in the shower but my shower is so small and slippery it would be a bad idea. Besides theres a big glass screen next to my face heh.
Anyway yeah I think handsoap has worked the best so far.

Wasabi if I go through that whole process I seriously hope it would work ha.

I do not recommend handsoap. Bags get crusty with handsoap and it doesn't really penetrate inside the bag for a good washing process. I definitely suggest shampoo or bodywash, because they can easily enter and wash the footbag from the inside out than just washing the surface of it.

And the procedure I just posted is still pretty experimental. That's why I don't recommend it too much.

axe touch and zest bar soap for me. not the blue bar, the orange tropical one. the blue one leaves lead remnants on the outside of the bag, and it has to be re-washed off.
