I would be dissappointed if new records are making onto the Footbag.org list but NOT mine.
I am glad there will be another place to store the forever important records.

I like updating the list and it's not to much to ask of one person. I spend about 1/2 hour a week on it. Often less.

I can't imagine any muted or crispy records that do NOT have dexterities.
So, Spinning clipper will not be added.

I hit
33 Pixie Symple Legovers Opposite Foot (years ago)
Yesterday I got
56 Reverse Whirls Same Foot
6 Spinning Ducking Butterfly Same Foot

Thanks everyone.

Please report all records to both site and update the footbag.org site as much as you wish.

A small problem with the list:

There is a record for matador, held by Tuomas Rilsalo, and then there is another entry for 'paradox legbeater' a few records below that (by Daryl Genz). They're the same trick, right?

LOL... I don't even know what a "hurl" is, unless it's like "tossing cookies", in which case I think a record of 8 is pretty good. I hit 8 matadors in 2001? (I think). When I hit it was the most 5's that had been hit in a row at the time. It's insane to see how much the sport has exploded since then :P.

I don't feel like editing myself out right now, but feel free to erase that record (anyone).

Peace.

Miraging Symposium Mirage Opposite Foot [Merlin, Symposium Toe Blur] 5 Bartosz Warda
merlin and backside toe blur are different tricks. there is big difference between quantum and downtime miraging. these tricks shouldn't be placed in the same column.

The record listed for Andy Lindner is 1014 kicks in five minutes.

There is a big difference.

Why do I always have to play the spoilsport? I don't know. I guess I'm just an a jerk. Anyway, I highly doubt that any of those recently announced alternating inside kick records are really THE record. What makes me say that? Well, Ted Martin is in the Guinness Book of World Records for most consecutive footbag kicks at 63,326. Now, I have no idea if those were all alternating inside kicks or not. I don't know Ted. However, I'd be willing to wager that if they weren't ALL alternating insides, then long stretchs of it (like, into the thousands) were. Similarly, I've heard that Greg "GF Smoothy" Nelson once marched in a parade kicking a footbag the whole way. I can't remember if he did the whole thing dropless, but I'd put money on that too, and again, if the whole thing wasn't alternating insides (it must be pretty tough to be THAT consistent while marching in a parade) than some pretty good stretches of it probably were.

Anyway, the point I'm trying to make is that before there was any such thing as tripless shred or an online footbag community, there was a couple of decades of fanatical footbag players who spent just as much time kicking a bag as any of you guys do stalling it. Actually, in the 1980's, "Consecutives" was one of the main events of World Championships, and I don't even mean "Timed Consecutives", I just mean, like, open-ended consecs, and those guys were serious about it too. I've heard that the competition used to run for HOURS. 8O Oh, man, can you imagine the excitement.

Speaking of timed consecutives, I know guys like Kenny Shults and Sean Flynn used to get up to around 900 consecutive kicks in five minutes using all alternating toes. The alternating Knee kick record? Again, I don't know what THE record is, but Ida Bettis Fogle set the women's timed consecutives record at the 1997 World Champs with 804, and she used all alternating knee kicks with no screw-ups. I was there for that one. So, like I was saying, I don't know what THE alternating knee kick record is, but its got to be at least 804.

In a related story... I remember reading about somebody offering Vasek a substantial sum of money if he could do 1000 toe kicks. He did.

Anyway, just to prove my point about consecutives, and my point about how I'm a jerk, I broke a bunch of the consecutive kick records tonight (I don't mean THE records, just the ones on Lon's page)

2004 alternating inside kicks.
1112 alternating toe kicks.
(those two runs themselves were consecutive, that is, I didn't stop inbetween them. It took about 34 minutes, about the same amount of time as I usually spend doing basic kicks as a warm-up before practicing)

(again, I'm sure those aren't the real records. I'm also fairly sure that thats not even the most inside kicks I've ever done, just the first time I actually counted. I'm pretty sure it is the most toes I've done in a row, though. I made it a fair stretch past 1000 just to keep ahead of Vasek. Man, that guy sucks. 8) Though he never made it 1000 in only five minutes, Kenny probably did way more just to build up his stamina for his record-breaking or championship-winning attempts.)

200 same side inside kicks.
100 same side toe kicks.
20 same side knee kicks.
(I'd brag about how many alternating knee kicks I did, but what's the point, its not nearly 804.)
111 same side outside kicks (first righty, then lefty 8) )
84 alternating outside kicks. (that one took me a couple tries.)

Luis Monhollon is probably gonna hate me now. Sorry Luis. Understand that though we haven't met I still hold you in high regard for your style, and much moreso for your willingness to even try all those groovy things you've tried. I just wanted to make a point to all the newbs out there in virtual world that there is alot of footbag history out there, and alot of it is fanatical footbag KICKING that this little list of records isn't properly accounting for. But don't stop kicking, Luis. Obviously you've got an open mind about freestyle, and you can't even imagine how much that can benefit you in the years to come. Keep going down all those strange paths -- you never know where they'll lead to.

To everybody else, footbag kicking is good. Try it and see. My half-hour of basic kick warm-ups feel allot like meditation to me. Its very relaxing. Just put on an easy going CD and just groove for a while, non-stop, and see how relaxed and loose you can get. Oh, well, whatever. Its probably not for everybody, but you never know. Anyway, just for the record (pardon the pun), I don't necessarily recommend doing thousand of THE SAME kick in a row. I usually do little drills of inside-outside-inside-outside combos and inside-knee combos, and usually only about 100 toes in a row between such combos. Whatever. If anybody is actually not totally bored by the concept of this, you can drop me a PM.

Okay, so, my warm-up being over, its time to get on with my actual practice. Out.

edit: oh, almost forgot...

I've seen a few people who's prefered timed consecs method is alternating insides, but don't think anybody ever reached 900 that way. Eric Wulff and Greg Nelson, I think, both use alternating insides (Nelson, actually, maybe does inside > toe > inside > toe) and they can go pretty fast. I've seen them do this for the Ironman event at Funtastics with decent results, but then, in Ironman you've only got to get to 100 kicks. As for footbag dot org being up-to-date, well, probably. Timed consecs is hardly ever run at any events any more. I remember they had it at Worlds 2000, but they dropped it not too long after that. Ben Scarborough ran it at the SouthEastern Regionals a few years ago, but only as a novice event. (We decided not to count drops as minus 10, 'cause if we did, some guys would have had negative numbers despite having kicked it hundreds of times  ) However, I'd enter a timed-consecs event if somebody were to run one.

Cod wrote:BTW: If the record "Guiltless run" - 180 refers to unique Guiltless run? If yes, mega props to Lon. If no, the record should be edited because Rafał Kaleta has hit 474 Osi.
IMO guiltless, tripless, fearless RUNs implies non-unique, non drill tricks. Pretty much as long as there is improvisation its a run.
So osis x 100 isn't a run isn't a run or blur>dimwalk> rpt isn't, but butter>osis>whirl>butter>drifter>ducking clipper>butter> ect.... is

I love it when Jon makes long posts like that. It's so interesting to hear about the sports early years. Well thought-out post, thanks Jon.
