Ahhhh I missed shred with Matt Cross by one day??? Damn! That's a bummer, I'd have liked to play with him. Tom, you should have him up when I'm actually around next time!

Oh and...

Major props for symp torque, that move is so badass. I tried it one day a few times and couldn't come close. I can't wait to see you hit that in person. See ya in 2ish weeks! Bye!

yo moshy,

I had a nice little visit, thanks for hosting me for the afternoon. you're the best. That case of athlete's foot that came home with me was fun.

That was a sick session we had, thanks for being there and shredding it up with me. I'm glad we could all hit new stuff. my knee still hurts from all those pdx crankshaft attempts ;) in fact, it just hurt worse thinking about it.

Come to our jam, dammit! I'm going to tell everyone about your slobbery sponsorship ;)

I shaved off my beard and left it as just a moustache for a few days, creepy. I am now fresh faced and ready to start a new semester.

Peng comes back tomorrow, woo! I hope I can get the house clean enough so that she doesn't explode when she arrives. It's hard to make the transition from hyper clean parent house to dirty student house.

I hope Pengpeng and I get really good at dating eachother and we keep learning and growing. I think we're doing pretty sweet so far. Ive never spent this much time with another human in such extended concentration. I think it's remarkable how much we are able to hang out without hating eachother.

It frustrates me that she feels so frustrated about footbag. She was hindered by her shoes that didn't fit and that got in the way of progress. And just days before she found shoes that fit she twisted her ankle further discouraging her. :( It would make me really happy if after peng has had time to let her ankle heal up she gives footbag one more serious attempt. I feel guilty of not being active enough of a coach, I need to be working with her helping her to progress. I want to be supportive and encouraging, I think she'd enjoy it alot more if I gave her more specific things to be doing, it's what's missing for her.

I think she has tons of potential and she is selling herself short. It makes me SO happy when I see her get excited and like footbag. I think it's great when she takes the initiative to try a trick again. That is really how learning happens. I think she'd get alot more out of footbag if she invested more of her time into really working on certain tricks and components. My job is to guide her and to show her the things she should be working on. She could have such amazing style and grace some day! I hope she doesn't give up.

Anyways, tomorrow should be fun, Peng gets back and we have a KFM shred session. I wonder what shoes I will play in...

I had been trying to get used to the g-units and then when NYJ came I tried them when I got there and they felt sucky and I put on the Climas again and it was like magic. I could hit tricks and it wasn't super frustrating anymore.

I will bring both to the shred tomorrow.

yawn, sleepy time.

NYJ writeup tomorrow probably too.

Tom,
I see where the problem lies with Peng. She needs to just take a couple of days rest and get back to it when her foot heals up. When ever I get frustrasted with footbag I just take a day or two off then hit it hard. Makes me feel great! Also, She can't have a better teacher than you besides Steve himself :)

I read this out of context and couldn't stop smiling even though I had no idea what you were talking about. Oh French Canadians...

At least you got to make it to New Years Jam... it seriously sounds like it was the best tournament of the year or something! WOW!

Whoa! I suck at keeping this thing updated.

Worlds write-up?
KICKASS2 write-up?
NYJ write-up?

:(

Maybe someday, it's all still in my head at least.. good times.

Stuff has been good lately.

Pengpeng, john bagi and I went ice skating last night and it was fun. pengpeng is so cute wrapped up in her winter garb. She doubles in size when getting ready to brave the winter.

I nailed maybe my hardest trick too. I wonder if any human has done it before..

I hit atw while sliding on ice in skates.

Ive been playing lots too. I am trying out the gunits again, sometimes I feel like I can play in them. It's just so much easier to play in the climas. blaaaah I don't know what to do. I need to stop bitching and make my footbag shoe dreams come true. I am still doing far more than nothing on the shoe project, but that's secret and you don't get to know.

The KFM is doing great too. Derrick is still a freak, he hits such insane shit sometimes and I am stoked that he's working his consistency now.

John Bagi is fucking nuts too. He's hitting like, EVERYTHING RIGHT AWAY, or so it seems. hard fucking core too.

Jake is a little frustrated with his game lately but that's just because he is in the latter stages of footbag puberty. He is able to do lots of things and now he just needs to spend the time doing those things to gain the confidence and consistency needed to link them all together.

peng hasn't had much time to shred and she keeps getting busted, I really want to start having private sessions with her to help her get the hang of the things she's been working on so that it all becomes more enjoyable.

My life...

I am currently in my final semester of school EVER!!

I have two courses, biomedical engineering and air quality management. Both will be medium hard, but I will pass em both and fucking graduate finally!

Lots is happening in my head. What do I do when I graduate? where do I go? I don't want to move to oakville...

I have to leave kingston, that means moving *somewhere*. A big part of me wants me to move to Berlin, I won't hide that.

But what about my pengpeng? I don't know what to do about any of this.

Something needs to happen to make it all clear in my head.

There is a potential job in a different part of germany, but I don't want to move anywhere in germany except berlin. But as much as I want to move to berlin... this job.. oh god this job... more on that later.

I have a few months to think and plan, but if I have any big plans to move somewhere (anywhere really) then I need to get on it and sort out what needs sorting out.

sigh

I still play footbag too, quite a bit.

I still can't spin. fucking gay.

here's some highlights:

blender>spinning whirl
whirlwind bs (one side was new, other was first in over a year)
toe drifter, drifter, pdx drifter all saucy in one string
bleh

My bags have been looking pretty good lately too.
We taught Bagi to stitch and he's real keen on it. He's gonna excel. What a guy, seriously, super fucking character.

Ive got some thinking to do.

Hey Tom!

You could just, I dont know, come to Japan?

Congrats (hopefully I dont eat my words...) on graduating (in a few months)!!!

I hope everything works out for you. I hope we get to meet up soon. I hope you didn't forget about that money you owe me  (for the quantums during worlds)

But seriously, enjoy your last semester EVER! Enjoy it tothe fullest, because, at least for me, my last semester was almost the best time of my life, so far...

Love

Hey home-grown,

Honestly, so far you've left an imprint on my life by being a hugely large inspiration and I know you are to many others as well. STAY positive and you'll find permanent joy in life by impacting many others along your path.

Ok those were my words of wisdom,
here's what Bruce Lee has to say:

Don't get set into one form, adapt it and build your own, and let it grow, be like water. Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless — like water. If you put water in a cup it becomes the cup, if you put into a bottle it becomes the bottle. You put water into a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.

Image

When there is freedom from mechanical conditioning, there is simplicity. The classical man is just a bundle of routine, ideas and tradition. If you follow the classical pattern, you are understanding the routine, the tradition, the shadow — you are not understanding yourself.

Eat those words up! Their good for you.

Basically this post is going to be crap when compared to John's (WOW! Amazing picture too, I felt compelled to download that).

But your idea of moving to Berlin sounds pretty damn good. It decreases the distance between us by... :? ... a lot, which INcreases the chance of ever getting to shred with you! Nice!

I can't help being really concerned about the state of the world.

In short, we're fucked. What really gets me is how many people either don't know and hence don't give a shit or DO know and don't give a shit! What selfish disgusting behavior! I see people being wasteful to incredible levels every day. But I can't go around preaching and expressing my concern without seeming like a pushy nut.

But like.. how have the core facts not FUCKING TERRIFIED everyone???

If you are not FUCKING TERRIFIED of global climate change then you DON'T UNDERSTAND IT.

You know greenland? yeah, it's going to kill us all.

Look up global dimming, it's another wonderful reason to be VERY SCARED right now. Basically it just says that global warming is way worse than we expected, and we already thought it was very very bad. Remember how millions died when the sahara stopped getting it's annual monsoon? That was global dimming.

And 99% of the population is just fucking brainless and wasteful and making no effort to do ANYTHING about it!!!

What am I supposed to do with all this pent up passion I feel?? How can I get people to see how damaging they are being? do they not care they are fucking over the whole world?? that millions die from the shit they do?

FUCK!

Oh yeah, and I am starting to care alot more about the fact that so many people have their brains locked into dangerous religious thinking. Not just fundamentalists, any religious people. It's all so fucking stupid and needless. The only 'need' is the one they've had impressioned on them by their upbringing. I challenge anyone to read The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins and still view religion in the same righteous light.

I think anyone that believes in God is pathetic and weak.

I love you guys! Look up love, not for religion but for wisdom, knowledge, heck for the fun of it: 1 Corinthians 13, verse 4-9

Forget God. How we treat this world is disgusting and how we treat each other is as well disgusting. Why save a world in which so few of its inhabitants love one another?

I believe the environmental problem you speak of is the product of a greater dilemma.

It's funny, Tom. Your whole rant about the state of the world had me thinking how happy I was to have a solid Hope for the future. I know that man can't do anything about the condition they have caused. I also know that it was foretold that this would happen in the Bible. Then, you went and attacked my believes and called me pathetic. It's you're blog, you can say what you want. But I spend my life trying to save lifes. I see this stuff happening with Global Warming, and I preach about God's will for mankind so that I might save lives. You said it yourself, you can't do anything about the condition. No human can. It's just not possible. But the one who created this place, now HE can fix it.

Anyways, don't view this as an attack, or a counter. I just wanted to throw it out there.
