Maybe someone could hook me up with some tips or names of these. I could have sworn gyro swirling was called splicing or something, but it was not on the set list whats up with these? Hints for those would also be dope. Thank you please 8)

A couple years ago at the 5th French Footbag Open in Paris somebody showed me a pretty mean little trick - Swirling Reverse Swirling Pick-Up = Zigzagging Pickup. They called it Zig-Up, like Zigzag crossed with Rev-Up. I thought it was a pretty good name.

I can't remember exactly who showed me that trick, but I'm pretty sure it was one of the German shredders there, being either Stefan Siegert, Paul Cronjaeger, or Max Kerkhoff. (Mathias Schmidt was there too, but I'm pretty sure he wasn't the one who showed me Zig-Up)

actually i am pretty sure it was jakob wagner, who was (at least around here) first to hit and also coined the term. i like the name as well.
i've never hit it though. (i think neither have paul, stefan nor matthias). maybe today though

Yeah I'd guess Jacob also.

Here are some other tricks:

reverse swirling symp. whirl (I say Jacob hit this)
reverse swirling rooted mirage (Matt Cross, is that correct?)
reverse swirling symple drifter (I was told Ianek hit this)
reverse swirling same toe (very hard 2 add, don't think it has a name)
reverse swirling blender (check Woras' latest video)
reverse swirling reverse swirl: revstein invented by M. Brocka
reverse swirling same foot legover (I've never seen this being hit but have been super close so imagine someone like Ianek would have)

Ianek seems to be your man when it comes to reverse swirling stuff.

max wrote:reverse swirling reverse swirl: revstein invented by M. Brocka
Or so he says... I hit this and named this move back in 1998 or 1999. And for the record, it was initially done from a dragon. The combo I was going for, and managed to hit a few times 8) , was dragonstein to revstein.

I remember seeing Mr. Brocka posting vids of his very impressive revsteins from clipper a couple years ago, and not meaning any offense to him, I was a little perplexed when he wrote something like "I think I named that move..."

[edit] felt like offering up a little more back-story on the whole reverse ripstein thing, so... When I first hit the move, I asked Rippin' if he'd ever heard of such a thing, a double reverse swirl ('cause he was the original master of the regular double swirl, hence the name  ). He told me that somebody he knew used to do them. Unfortunately I have virtually no recollection of the name he told me, but I was thinking of somebody when I thought up the name revstein. Somebody that Rippin' used to talk about as being a very promising hotshot shredder the likes of Kenny and himself was a guy named Dave Yevin. "Revvin' Yevin". I never met him, but always liked his nick-name. Revvin' actually competed together with Rippin' AND Kenny back when TEAM FREESTYLE wasn't limited to two people. See, there didn't used to be Singles AND Doubles categories, there was Singles and Team, and in the Team Freestyle event, teams could be either two or three people. In fact, if I understand correctly, in even earlier years, they didn't even distinguish between singles and team, there was just one freestyle event that either one person, two people, or three people could enter together. Anyway, Kenny, Rippin', and Revvin' formed a team and called themselves "The Black Hole of Hein." At some point somebody, probably Rick, showed me a video of them competing. I was actually a little disappointed: lots of drops :( . Anyway, I couldn't remember who Rick said was the guy who hit Reverse Ripstein, and for all I know it was Dave Yevin (though I kind of doubt it) but I just liked that name, Revvin' Yevin, so I kind of named the trick after him. Of course, the fact that it was a REVerse double swirl had just as much to do with it. In any case, I suppose its perfectly obvious that neither Brocka nor I were the first to actually hit the move, but to my knowledge I'm the first to refer to it as Revstein. Anyway, thats the story. I suppose Mr. Brocka might have come up with the same name independantly. [/edit]

Anyway, I'm almost certain I saw Daryl Genz hit a dragon reverse swirling torque at Worlds '99, but when I mentioned it to him not long after he said he had no recollection of hitting it. I'm pretty sure I saw him do it... Weird.

And one more word regarding invention, I'm pretty sure the Reverese Swirling Symposium Whirl was Scott Davidson's baby.

not that it matters much, but t ome a trick starting on dragon is different from staring on clipper, atleast in invention terms, but it doesn't matter and brings up the whole silly unique debate.
I hit shoulder stall> gyro shoulder stall today. its unique from paradon.

Are there names for those other than technical names? I know there is tons more and I will adjust the list at the top of the page accordingly some time soon. Peace.

jorden does those crazy gyro symp and non symp rev swirling sets. don't know the names to them though

Some variants that I have hit are butter rev swirl, whirling rev swirl, spinning symple rev swirl, gyro reverse swirling far legover and spinning symp revup. also don't know their names

i find that giving lots of bend to the knee of the non swirling leg helps a ton with rev swirling tricks by allowing for more dexing space

edit: added tip

I believe the gyro rev. swirling and gyro symp. rev swirling are called slicing and splicing respectively.

I believe I've seen Jorden hit Splicing Ripwalk. :!: Insane.

And for the record Slicing Butterfly is the LawnMoir.

I remember Scott referring to reverse swirling symposium whirl as Double Helix. Normally I take all footbag names from Scott with a grain of salt, but I think I've heard that from other people as well.
