I had a wonderful time at this event. I will provide a lot of detail for those of you that did not attend. The shred spot was a gymnasium at SUNY Geneseo. The size of the floor was at least one whole basket ball court. The lighting was top notch, no shadows getting in the way of seeing the bag or anything for that matter. The accoustics were good enough to allow the music to bump and any announcements or naration during the competitions to be well heard and understood. The competitions were done very well. There was a good joint effort between Paul Agostinelli (judge and MC), Matt Cross (MC), Aric McIntosh (judge and referee), myself (part time MC), and a few other judges that allowed the competitions to run quickly and smoothly. All competitions including circle, sick 3, sick 1, and TEN were competed within forty minutes. Result were tallied during that time.

The party spot was great. Kristen and Trish were wonderful hosts. I was given full reign on the kitchen Saturday night and treated everyone to Wegmans whole wheat spaghetti with Prego traditional sauce, Chicken flavored cous cous, steamed brocolli, and baked salmon. For beer there was a nice variety including Guinness draught, Saranac Adirondack Lager, Saranac Pale Ale, and Yuengling Lager. There was beer pong both Saturday and Sunday night. Paul Agostinelli was spinning Sunday night and kept the groove flowing all the way from one year to the next. A classic moment for me was when someone asked Paul, "When are you going to be spinning?" and Paul replied, "I've been spinning. Haven't you noticed the beat has been the same all night?" I laughed out loud when I heard that. The food on New Year's Eve was good too. There were chips and salsa, deviled eggs, and a nice bean and cheese chip dip. There may have been other food but that is all I consumed.

Monday, everyone met back at the shred spot for the last few hours of the event. The shred was light, at least for me. Flash and Willie Digges were blowing everyone's minds as they had done all weekend long.

There was a lot of good shred from everyone. There is something about tournaments that brings out the best in people. I know there were a lot of first-times for a lot of people. I hope to read about them on modified someday soon.

Thank you all for coming and making this event the best part of 2007 for me. It is going to take a lot to top this. Maybe GRASS 2007? I will keep you posted.

I know I already posted on this but it was the highlight of my Christmas break.

So:
Damn, sounds like I missd lots of fun stuff. At least I got to come for a bit though! I'm glad that this was my first event. It was so awesome being able to shred with other people. Seeing it in person is 10 times better than in videos. And the shirt kicks ass Mike.

I wore it to school today. Got lots of compliments. Next time I'll be staying for the entire event hopefully. Let me know if any of you are ever down in the Raleign, NC area!

a great success! I had a blast! It was great seeing the RFA old and new. More importantly I met Mike Anello for the first time and played with him. Strange how I was a member of the RFA for a whole year and went to GRASS I and still never met the guy. Well it was good to finally do that. AND I got to shred with Flash for the first time. I saw him at GRASS long ago but this was a first for me actually shredding and partying less than 3 feet from him.

Thanks to Chris and Mike and Paul for putting on a great jam. Again it was great seeing you guys again. Thanks for the compliments and the criticisms and next time I'll blow minds (as long as the knees hold up).

I wish I could have made it, I MUST make it to the next NY state tourny.

You guys should make GRASS07 crazy wicked. I will start up loudspeakers on the hype machine any time you want!

I am currently working on the YEAH 2006 competitions video. I have the intro and circle round 1 finished. I think this video is going to be really nice and showcase a lot of talent from everyone.

I have a question for you guys. Would you prefer a music track over competition footage, or would you prefer to hear the live sound from the event? Please let me know your opinion.

Keep a look out for the final video over the next few days.

Hmmm, thats a tough choice, maybe music track for circle and live for other's or vice versa. Whatever you think, I'm sure the video will rock!

Throughout the competition events, in the original video, there is always music playing and someone, either Matt Cross, Paul Agostinelli, or myself on the microphone making comments and announcements. In addition, you can hear the crowd cheering every now and then. As for video content, my goal is to showcase everyone's talents by keeping only those strings and moves that display each individual at the top of their game. I have finished editting the first two rounds of circle competition and let me tell you there is a lot of good footage that has made it into the final video. I will need to experiment, once the editting is complete, by watching the video with a music track or keeping the original audio and see which results in a more appealing final video.

I am so excited about this video in hopes that it will become a great promotional piece for YEAH 2007!
