the tail is usually the side of the board where the pop zone is more of an upward arc.
once you figure out which side is which, make a mark on the griptape so you can remember without even looking at the nose or tail.

i also know that element makes boards (sometimes, ) that have both sides for tails. cant remember what they call them tho.

i would say skateboarding is alittle harder, since you get injured more easily/often. also, it takes more balls to go speeding up or down a ramp and into the air. the tricks being harder... idk... i learned what i wanted to relatively easily, but i didnt skate technically, with kickflips and shit. i never really had to struggle to hit new tricks for footbag, but i did have trouble getting them all into strings.

i liked grabs, and coping stalls or grinds (so i skated halfpipes). i also favored gaps. but ledges and shit werent very fun, so i never bothered.

Your wheels might be moving slow cuz you tightened ur wheels too much. Also if your bearings r all messed up and rly old, then you should just buy new ones. If they have dirt in it, then try cleanign them out. I would suggest getting Red Bones bearings. Also lube like Speed Cream might help ur wheels spin faster. If you want really fast bearings, then bones swiss ceramics r the way to go, but they r rly expensive(like $100).

Yeah i just figured it doesnt matter what side the tail is for now cause i seem to be able to ollie equally on both sides. My ollies are getting less akward. It reminds me of learning atws. fun. Anyway i have a skate tool but i havent adjusted the bearings at all, im thinking im gonna lube em up and if that doesnt help im gonna get some lucky's 5's. Them swiss ones sound to expensive i wont pay more than 40.

and will my entire body always hurt like this? my arms and my legs are so sore.. though the arms could be due to weight lifting

I guess lavers arent the best shoes for skating o.o especially mine that have no grip left hahahaahaha. Though, I saw my friend bust some stuff in his lavers and they dont even have the rubber on most of the bottom anymore.

Get red bones bearings. They're cheap($15.99) and good. I find the best site to buy stuff is from www.ccs.com If you won't go over $40, then get black bones swiss. They're $39.99. I've heard good things about these bearings and they they spin rly fast, except they break faster than normal bearings.
My old pair of Lakias lost the rubber on the bottom of the shoe in 2 months. I think that the rubber was rly weak. I like eS the best. If you want a good pair of skate shoes(if you dont' have any), get eS accel, antisocial, or accelerate.

es huh? ill look into them. I was gonna buy some element shoes, or DC, or vans as they were brands i'd heard of. Now my only focus has to be dedication. I made my parents buy me a brand new world industries board once and I never even used it for more than a week before selling it to a friend and giving up.
Anyway Ill look into those ES shoes thanks for the tips.

I guess i just have to know that I can do it.
It kinda sucks having no one to skate with and teach me though.

DCs fall apart fast and vans arent' that great. Never seen any1 wear elements. Right now i have eS accelerates. Also world industry decks r the worst you can get. I've heard that element decks crack fast and r weak. I like Zero, Mystery, Girl, Almost, Zoo York, and Black Label.

some of the ES look cool but anti socials are kind of ugly, I know its how they skate that matters but i always want something i can wear around. I think I will get those ES accel. Ive heard nothing but good about element boards.
I want to buy a chocolate board if i ever buy a new one. I heard they were good. how are toy machines?
Im flipping the board everytime now on kick flip but the board always lands a few inches to my right and my feet hit the ground.

Element everything is horrible.

the Rick McCrank model (Anti-Social) is pretty bad. Mine were shredded after a few weeks.

The best shoes I have skated are the Etnies Arto Saari - had them for about 6 months and just recently stopped wearing them. Just got some eS Accels. I haven't skated them yet but it's pretty commonly accepted that they are one of the most consistently good skate shoes ever made, since they have been unchanged for like 10 years or something.

Bones Reds are fine. No one needs anything faster unless you're like, racing or some shit. I don't know any good skaters that skate anything "nicer" than Reds.

Foundations are the best decks I've had, same with anything Tum Yeto (Toy Machine & Pig). POPWAR is often reputed as the best decks out there. As is FIGHT! (just google all these I guess).

Chocolates are pretty mediocre (same as Girl). So, meh.

Other great decks are:
KAYO boards (DGK, Expedition, Organika)
REAL/KROOKED/RASA LIBRE/ANTI-HERO
ZOO YORK
HABITAT
ALIEN WORKSHOP

yeah, bones reds are the way to go. theyre def the best.

dont get element anything if you are buying it, unless its fiberligt. theyre sell outs and make crappy stuff most the time. but i loved the fiberlight series, and NEVER broke one. ive got 3 now. i skated hard, and those decks last.

etnies are good shoes too.

tum yeto boards suck. i broke every zero board i had in less than 2 weeks. mystery too. toy machine arent bad, and anti hero are alright.
i ended up just skating blanks (no name, and cheap) until i broke them in a month. girl boards are like skating 2x4s.

spitfire wheels are the best. ricta are okay, but pricey.

not... either of the two you just mentioned.

but that's cool I guess. A Foundation was the best deck I ever had. Granted, I haven't tried Fight! or Popwar - but I hope to someday. I think Tum Yeto's are pretty good.

damn... from ollying theres a fat hole in my rod lavers which just ripped my sock open. so ive been ollying and sliding my foot up it scraping the skin off my foot.. until i looked. I for real need some new shoes.. Next week hopefully.

I was really into skating for a while. It was fun until everyone got super competitive and people just wore the clothes to be cool. I also got really sick of hurting myself. The tradeoff just wasn't there for me.

I always wore DC's... because those are my initials. And they seemed to be alright. But I had a pair of ES that were really nice and lasted fairly long. A few months I guess.

I was at one time really into deck choice and all that but then I realized it's all stupid and I just skated blanks. They were like $30 and just as good. Besides that I think it's stupid to base a whole company off one bad experience. You'd have to skate like 4 boards to really understand the dynamics I would think. I always changed what brand I used so I never really learned what was amazing and what was bad. I never really cared.

Skateboarding is cool but there isnt really enough variety for me. There are like 10 standard tricks. It also seems at some points it's more guts than skill (like having the balls to go down 20 stairs). I always think about taking up skating again but I like footbag too much, and I just can't justify spending hundreds on equipment.

This didn't help anyone, but it was fun reliving my 14 year old days.

Get into rodney mullen. I'm sure most people who skate at all know who he is. I agree with david that there isn't enough variety in skate boarding, with the exception of what rodney mullen is capable of. Instead of going for crazy huge stairs he works the technical aspects of the sport, and also wrote a book on how to skate board with out injuring yourself(I have not read it). Skate boarding I feel is a great sport, that I dabbled in myself, I'm content with being able to ollie over the curb. However if you do wish to get serious about it, yeah it's cool to land a huge a gap after 20 tries or so, but in my opinion it is more impressive to do lots of tech with many links, and long lines and also better on your body. Granted Mr. Mullen cannot do everything everytime, but much of it he can. Anyway heres links to my hero when it comes to skateboarding

as far as being able to footbag after skateboarding, that is just basic conditioning. Evevntually i fyou keep doing both, your body will feel less sore. But with injuries they hurt no matter how long you have been getting them. Keep skateboarding if you love it, and if it is worth it to you risk the injuries by going for the huge drops. There is risk of injury in everything we do, if your love for a activity out weighs the risk, go for it.

I can't agree more. Rodney mullen is my favorite skater and perhaps the best ever (at least at what he does).

It's funny because I'm such a standard trick whore when it comes to footbag, but I just love when Rodney does all these messy ass flip tricks that you can't believe he lands.

I think I'm going to buy his autobiography.

rodney mullen is fucking awesome. i like the rodney mullen vs. daewon song videos. i think the thing i like most about rodney is that he takes freestyle skateboarding to a completely different level.

rodney is to skateboarding as vasek is to footbag.

i agree with going for your dreams if the love outweighs the risk, too. that doesnt just go for sports... it goes for life. no one gets where they want to go by being lucky... they get where they want by trying over and over. if i keep trying and trying maybe ill get good. itll be years but thats the fun part.

I know who many of the famous skaters are, i like to watch skate videos and half of them are introduced in THPS haha.

btw how are the completes that ccs sells, the price is cheap how about the quality?

True that. i remember seeing him for the first time and my jaw just dropped, his innovation, creativity and control are ridiculous.

i used to skate a bit in high school so I may bring my board with me to college as an easier way to get around campus. maybe end up skating a bit, when i'm not footbagging of course
