Handicapping Bears v. Seahawks -- any thoughts?

The Bears already destroyed Seattle in Week 4 (37-6) but that was without Shaun Alexander. The Seahawks have a better QB, better RB, better O-line, better receivers, and better coaching on offense.

But they still aren't that great of a team. They barely beat Dallas, mostly because of Dallas's own mistakes. But considering how many mistakes Grossman can make in a game, that might be enough of to get Seattle to the NFC championship.

The (Da) Bears have better D, and the best special teams in the NFL. And they are playing at home, and coming off a bye week (really two weeks of byes, the whole team took the game off against Green Bay even though they were on the field), so they have a number of advantages that they can exploit.

It will probably come down to whether Grossman fucks us over or whether he plays well. There's no in-between with him, so just hoping for competence is pointless.

I think the Bears have to change their game plan. Pretend Kyle Orton is still the QB, play ball control, let their defense win the game. Or at least stop throwing deep to Barrion on 3rd and 2 (such dumbass play calling all season).

yeah, the pats sucked most of the game, and fortunatly for them, so uncharacteristically did the chargers, which was partly coincidence, and partly the pats FORCING the turnovers.
you cant just be handed interceptions or fumbles, you either have to take them, or at least be in the right spot at the right time, and hold onto the ball.

is it still a coincidence that brady has the best postseason record of any qb? bullshit.

Hooray Patriots.

As good as the Chargers played, penalties killed them in that game. They got at least 2 Unnecessary Roughnesses and 2 Intentional Facemasks. That's unusually high for 1 game. They played well, but a few badly timed mistakes cost them the game. The Pats were able to capitalize on every opportunity that the Chargers handed them. IMO the Pats played good, but not great football. "Any given Sunday" as the saying goes.

Bring on the Colts. This will not be easy...

I don't know why you would try to pick up the ball and run with it on a punt return instead of just falling on it...

and I don't know why you would intercept the ball on 4th down instead of batting it down...

As much as I hate saying it, I'll be very surprised if the Pats don't win another superbowl.

The patriots will get stomped by the Colts. Peyton has had 2 bad games in a row, know what that means?

Brady and his band of merry assholes will get crushed. Crushed i tell you. And reggie/deuce will dominate the bears. All i want, and i can die happy when this happens, is for the patriots and bears to lose.

Fucking Bears got real lucky. Fortuneatly they are a bad team and wont get to the Superbowl, and even if they do wont win.

Your defense isn't really that good, my Hawk's ran all over you. Grossman played averagely at best against us, but that wont be enough vs Brees or Peyton or Brady. Good lucky you windy fuckers.

I agree, if the bears were any good at all they would have blown us (seattle) out of the water. Rex got picked off by a loan broaker we picked up off the streets. We were missing; marcus trufant, jimmy williams, dj hackett, robbie tobeck, cris gray, darrell jackson was pumped up with pain killer for his messed up toe so he couldn't catch the ball, matt hasselbeck's nonthrowing hand was broken. We had no buisness staying in the game.
Da bears are just as bad as the cowboys and are going nowhere.
Consider yourselfs lucky to be were you are, and when you lose to the saints be happy with making it that far. Good luck next year.

EDIT: I will give the bears credit for making plays when they had to.

So many excuses for those Seahawks...

At the start of the playoffs I figured whoever won the NFC championship only gained the right to lose to the AFC champs. Now that Baltimore and San Diego are out, that's probably still true, but maybe less likely.

Bears v. Saints? I don't even know where to begin. Reggie Bush won't be able to run against them, but could beat them bad in the short passing game (like Steve Smith last season in the playoffs). Unfortunately for the Bears its more about Drew Brees than any other player for the Saints, and they aren't going to be able to pressure him.

As bad as the Bears D has been lately, in order to win they'll have to play very aggressively on offense. Which is bad - I don't care how Grossman played last week, he could turn around and suck it up this week regardless.

Seems like the only thing going for the Bears is its a home game -- its going to be cold, and the field conditions are going to be bad.

If Bush gets above 50 combined rush/pass yards, and Deuce gets anything over 90, I will be amazed if the Bears win. You're probably right that Reggie wont have much sucsess between the tackles, but Deuce is their every down back right now, and by all means, is a fucking horse when he has the rock.

The only way the Bears have a chance is if their defense starts playing like the team everyone thought they were, or if Rex plays like he did the first 4 games.

Chicago's D needs to play an excellent game just to stay close. Without Tommie Harris they are in trouble.

Then again, New Orleans lost six games this season, to Carolina (twice), Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Cincinatti & Washington. Except for Baltimore, none of those teams made the playoffs (although two of the others were AFC teams, so there you go). Maybe the Bear's will be able to figure out how to win based on those games. Maybe I'm just grasping for anything that will give me hope.

I haven't watched enough Saints games to know what the lesson of any of those games would be.

I don't even need to list the teams Chicago has lost or almost lost to. The only defeat that really stands out for NO is to Carolina and DC, both of which aren't too terrible.

I have a real good feeling that Da Bears will dominate in this upcoming game... well maybe not dominate but win.

The Saints are a dome team, it just snowed here(and might snow on Sun) and the Saints statistically arent too efficient on the ground when its cold/snowing and when theres REAL grass under their cleats.

Im only worried about our secondary, Brees is one of our biggest threats, giving him some pressure and keeping Colston covered is a must.
