Rozo's Footblog

Post by Rozo »

Hi Modified!

I'm the one of the young generation Polish players. I think I should now introduce myself.
So my name's Pawel Rozek, I'm 16 years old and live in Wroclaw (Poland). I started playing freestyle in june 2005, when I got lavers. I was lucky 'cause I met Ners, who showed me right way in footbag. :) Big thanks to you Ners! I also met Olaf, Budzik, Hania, Wojtas ..and other Wroclaw's shreders. Actually I shred with Ners and Olaf. I'm glad I shred with them, 'cause they're really really good. I want to be one day as good as them, or maybe better? who knows... :P Time to time come at session Budzik and Wojtas. In june 2006 I won Championships of Poland, in intemediate freestyle of course; in open first was.. Ners ;). At Zocha Jam 2006 I qualified to finals (I was in group with Vasek ;) ), and finally I was 10th... not bad

Finally I'm writing here, but I had a doubt about creating this blog. Let me explain why. I know guys who started shreding months after me (for example Milo or Woras); nevertheless they're much better than me. Some moves they've hit, are for me unattainable yet.
I thought, the reason is that I've had shin splints since I started playing footbag (it will be more than 1,5 year now) :? Recently I decided to beat them (shin splints) and I hope it will speed up my development in this beautiful sport.
Anyway I think I shouldn't compare with others, beacause there is always someone better and someone worse than me.

Now some stuff I've already hit:
-pdx torque bs
-blurry torque
-marius
-mobius bs
-void
-blurry whirl bs
-spinning pdx dlo
-fog

best drills:
-drifter>torque (rpt.)
-pdx whirl>torque (rpt)
-spinning pdx mirage>legbeater (rpt)
-ducking butterfly>diving butterfly>spinning butterfly (rpt)
-rubberman :!: :)

I'll write in this blog my newest achievements and experiences of footbag. It will be nice to see progress in time.
I know, my English isn't best, but I hope you understand me well
Please feel free to write some posts here :)

Great to see your blog bro!

Don't compare yourself with the others, it won't help you. I mean... everyone has a diferrent style, use diferrent tricks. We all are (luckily!) diferrent. Someone hits Whirlwind after a year? So what?! If you can't hit Symp Whirls because of Shin Splints, keep away from them. It's your privilege. Don't let anyone tell you what to do. If there is someone who takes responsibility for your progress it's you :!:

Besides, your syle is veeeeery smoth and goes in the right direction. Don't forget about it and stop being so modest. :P

I've got your insoles. They're pretty good. We will beat Shin Splints once and for all!

PS. That's the fourth Wroclaw's Footblog. Nice. 8)

Great to see your replies!
Thanks for support, but Olav, you said..
stop being so modest. :P
don't tell me what to do  My parents always tell me: "just be yourself", and I am. I'm not going to change myself, however I'll be trying to stop comparing with the others. Wait.. I've already stopped it two minutes ago.

Can't wait to shred with Spenco Insoles

Once again thanks for posting

Revolution
I haven't hit any new trick today, I haven't even played. But something has changed. Something in my legs. When I was running after a bus, surprisingly I hadn't got shin splints. Yeah, my dreams come true. :P Foot raises is the best way to get rid of shin splints.
Yesterday I had 15 minutes barefoot session in my room. I hit:
spinning clipper bsos,
whirl bsos,
dlo>pixie ss clipper (rpt.),
smear>pixie ss mirage (rpt.)
I'm surprised with my whirls barefoot, they're getting better. When I haven't got shin splints, everything is just easier. :)

Thanks janis :)

Yeah I'm free of shin splints already, however I'll do a lot of exercises regularly to be sure that they'll never come back :)
My new records:
23x ducking clipper
3x atomsmasher  (started with flip)

PS In my last post I wrote that foot taping is the best way to get rid of shin splints. I was thinking that foot taping means exactly the same as foot raises, but Olaf has put me right today. I've just edited that post.

Quite long I haven't been writing here. Besides having shin splints again, everything is good... I have two weeks winter holidays, so I'll be able to shred a lot. I hope my shin splints won't be too hard.
Recently I did:
-5x atomsmasher
-smear>atomsmasher (rpt)
-ducking butterfly>stepping clipper (rpt)
-run with: drifter>whirl(rpt), pdx mirage>toe whirl (rpt), pdx torque, ducking butter b2b
I want to practise pixie, stepping, atomic set and moves like paradon, barfly, barrage. In addition I'm going to make some huge tricks with Ners' advices.

Yesterday's shred was pretty good. Ners motivated me to do some 5s:
 fog - two times on each side
 mobius bs
 pdx torque bs
 spinning pdx whirl bs
 blurry whirl bsos
 blurry whirl> spinning pdx whirl>ss butterfly>blurry whirl>footed spin pdx whirl
I also hit nice drill in first try:
 atomsmasher>tap (rpt.)

Today we were playing almost 4 hours! It was definitely too long for my ...shin splints... :x Now I'm really exhausted and I need a rest.. I practised spinning osis doing spinning osis>whirl (rpt) and spinning osis b2b with holding bag for a while. They're getting quite solid.
I also hit for the first time pdx torque b2b, but althoug bag flew straight after that, I didn't catch it
And today's spontaneous short combo  : spinning butterfly>spinning osis>ducking osis>torque>stepping far osis. ..I will drill that.. yes I can! :)

To make my blog more attractive I add a picture:
Image
That's me doing spinning paradox whirl :)

Peace

Uhh I haven't been writing here for a whole month... I don't remember any amazing strings or tricks since my last post.
Mostly I have been working on my double dexes:
 barrage>paradon bsos
 pdx mirage>paradon (rpt.)>pdx illusion>paradon (rpt.)
 blur>paradon (rpt.)
 scorpions tail
and a lot of basics...
I also hit
 tripwalk bs :)
I believe that drilling the basics is the best way to become very solid in this sport, ..thus I like drilling :)

Ners made 2 brand new Wroclaw's videos! Check them out if you didn't do this yet!

Nice, we have now calendar spring! The weather isn't actually very well, but it's going to be really warm soon. That means we will shred outdoor :) I'm very happy about that.
I had two freestyle demos this week. On wednesday in my school (I go to secondary school) students and teachers were celebrating the first day of spring. Ners and Olaf came too. The public gave us great applause. After that we went shred and I hit spininng ducking pdx mirage, gyro symp mirage, vortex - all both sides.
On friday Olaf and I made short demonstration in Olaf's school. The organization was really bad, but finally our performance went well. The public was cheerful as we were : )

I feel nice because I haven't got shin splints for a long time now! 8)
I had a camera on our session last sunday and here are my pics:
