WFNX Radio Talent Contest

General footbag-related topics that don't fit elsewhere go in here.

If you want to help me, read everything in this that i wrote and tell me what you think i should do.

email and ask them if it will be a problem, and say that im willing to lie if it would help Wink (because they're already amply impressed by the footbag, i believe)

WFNX Radio Talent Contest

Post by slapdash21 »

http://www.fnxradio.com/1/dakinshow.asp

i sent them couple paragraph-long, rather well-written and intelligent email briefly explaining the sport and trying to make it seem more unique and cool, basically, with a link to my video from the fall...

just thought i'd show people know in case anything comes of it. one plus is that the actual contest is in less than a month, so at least i'll know soon. anyway.

Thanks!

im either going to email and ask them if it will be a problem, and say that im willing to lie if it would help  (because they're already amply impressed by the footbag, i believe) or get a fake id, or just dont ask and assume it'll all work out the night at the place. like, what are they going to do once im there and they find out im 19. they'll find a way im sure without eliminating me. those are the options as i see them.

EDIT- in fact, if you want to help me, i think i'll make a poll about it since i have until january 31st (like 10 days) so tell me what you think i should do out of these three or so options:

1. email and ask them if it will be a problem, and say that im willing to lie if it would help  (because they're already amply impressed by the footbag, i believe)

2. email and politely ask them if it will be a problem, and then be pissed if they say it is

3. try to get a fake id

or

4. just dont ask and assume it'll all work out the night at the place. like, what are they going to do once im there and they find out im 19. they'll find a way im sure without eliminating me.

the place is called jose mcintyre's...its this downtown place thats at least partly a bar. so i dunno.

Considering you're over 18, getting into the bar shouldn't be a problem as long as you don't drink. I've been in a couple bars, and so far nobody gives a damn as long as you don't drink. I'm not sure if it's like that in Boston though. I choose option 4. :?

Option 4 could easily backfire. Then again so could all the other options  Ive been into a few bars but most of them kick you out if youre under 21, however that all depends on whos calling the shots and how cool they are. Hopefully its a bar/grill lol. Thats a tough one man, good luck.

Your best bet is to let them know ahead of time. If you're only there for the contest it shouldn't be a problem. If you hide your age and they find out you might get screwed, but if you're upfront about it from the start they should be able to make arrangments for it.

Honesty is the best policy.

Look up the law for the city of Boston. If I remember, in the city of Cambridge, you are allowed to be in a bar if you are over 18, you just can't be served alcohol.

Now that I remember, I went to see Gangta Bitch Barbie (an awesome Boston rap/rock crossover group for their time) at Bill's Bar on Landsdowne street back in Summer of 2000, I was 18 at the time. I got carded, showed my ID and they X'ed my hand. I could go inside but not drink.

I think you should be fine.
