Wednesday 1/10 2 hour session.
Total hours played in 2007: 2.5
Big session! We had 5 people and two video cameras. I had a few good long runs. I also managed to hit ducking clipper and smear mid run, neither of which I've hit mid run before. No new tricks though. Luis hit PDX mirage BSOS, which was cool, we were all pumped for him on that. I footed drifter like 3 times. I just need to practice the motion w/o the bag on that one and I'll get it. John's consistency has definitely improved since the last time I played with him, his flipside clipper/butter is finally catching up to his strongside. Also, his dragons are improving, he will probably hit infinity ending on a dragon pretty soon.
Thursday 1/11 1 hour session.
Total hours played in 2007: 3.5
Played at the gym. Just did a lot of drilling. Ducking clippers, stepping set, tiltless, illusions. Not a bad session but I didn't hit anything noteworthy. Note to self: hit smudge and blizzard. Further note to self: hit flipside pixie and stepping.
I feel like my game is stagnating a bit. I've really tried to work on endurance and run length and it's not improving as fast as I'd like. I guess even though I snowboarded over break, I didn't get enough exercise to improve my cardiovascular endurance at all.
Looking forward to Saturday session tomorrow. FOOTBAG FOOTBAG FOOTBAG. When will my obsession with this insanely enjoyable sport end? I do not know.

Ben awesome man! Good to see you got right back from Snowboarding and started up again.
Learned a note worth thing from the peps in CIC. I good practice to drifter is doing drifter style clippers. Which basicly means doing drifters w/o the dex(or mirage) motion. So instead of having it come through your leg your going to have it come over your leg but doing the drifter motion. Hope this helps!

@Carlos: Thanks for the tip. I hit 6 drifter-style clippers at my last session. I'm going to work clippers some more before I attempt drifter. You never can never practice clippers too much.
@Drew: thanks LOL. I actually snagged that off someone at the Clutch pro-rock.com message board. People over there have the craziest images in their profiles and sigs.
Well this week has been an actual week of true winter here in Austin, TX. We got SNOW! The last time Austin got snow was 2/14/04, a few months before I moved here. The city has been COMPLETELY shut down. I've had to work from home since Monday. Oh hey, our house DOESN'T HAVE ANY HEAT! That kinda sucks, but we're managing with space heaters just wearing sweatshirts and shit. Oh by the way, we got less than 1" of snow. Back in Massachusetts school wouldn't have even been delayed. This is all kind of hilarious to me. At the same time it sucks because I haven't been able to get out of the house much.
Saturday 1/13 1 hour session.
Total hours played in 2007: 4.5
This barely counts. It was so freezing ass cold outside I barely did anything. No highlights.
Monday 1/15 1 hour session.
Total hours played in 2007: 5.5
Nothing of note really. I went to the gym. Working on guiltless contacts. Tried to hit some new shit. Single highlight:
SS Butter > PDX mirage > Symp pixie [RPT]
Going to hit the gym in a little bit here. I feel like my body is atrophying as I sit at home on my computer writing emails.
Also, Cody, John... no session tonight I don't think. Tennis courts will be way too cold and no places will be open to shred indoors. Sorry

Its actually the easiest drill ever
Wednesday 1/17 1.5 hours
Total hours played in 2007: 7.0
Gym session. Didn't play too well. Several attempts at Merlin, footed it once
One run I remember, first time I've hit smear out of anything other than a legover.
Clipper > PDX Mirage > Smear > Legover > Illusion > Legover > Illusion > Mirage > Butter > Infinity > drop
Other highlight, no shin splints!
Finished up with 25 minutes on the ellipticals (cardio). That felt good.
Thursday 1/18 1.5 hours
Total hours played in 2007: 8.5
Went over to James' place and brought BOTS. Watched it with him and Cody and had a kitchen session. I was playing pretty well. Sauced a lot of bees, no new tricks. Got shin splints pretty bad this time. DAMMIT!!! I just remember telling myself to do toe taps today, now it's 5pm and I forgot
Night out with Amber tonight. Frankenbike shred tomorrow.

Keep going at it then. No, it isn't I think I've hit that complete drill a total of 2 maybe 3 times ever.
How high do you jump for your Symposium Mirages? I do them on a pretty regular basis and don't seem to bother me much. I'm probably not in a place to be handing out advice at the moment though.

Saturday 1/20 5.0 hours
Total hours played in 2007: 13.5
What a day. Well it was raining, so the whole Frankenbike thing was shot to shit. We shredded outside of Freebirds, got some stranger props and took a burrito break around 2:30. Later on, we went to meet up with John's brother at the Skatepark, and shredded there. Since it was a rainy day, the skatepark was packed. I got home after 6 that day. LOTSA shred yo.
John is visibly getting better every session it seems like. He was on fire on Saturday. He was hitting DATWs everywhere, even managed to BSOS it. After Cody left I asked him to go for double pickup. I thought he would go for it from clipper, but went for it from toe instead, and hit it super clean first try
. He said that was the 2nd time he'd hit it, I'd never seen the first time. At 15 years old, if he keeps up this pace he could be one of the better players in the US by the time he's 18.
At one point I mentioned how we both needed to hit Magellan, a move that had been alluding me since I started getting good at pixies. John gave it a few tries and was able to hit it 3rd for 4th try. Pass to me and I proceeded to hit it first and only try
My pixie sets are getting good to the point where they are duckable. I footed Phoenix 3 times. Flip is making slow but sure progress, I managed to hit a few flip PLOs.
Run length is coming along. I can hit 20 tiltless with 3's thrown in no problem now, but less if I'm going for tricky stuff (like ss butter > far pickup> illusion > rpt) Fatigue is becoming less and less of a factor. Cardio is paying off in spades.
Note to self, concepts to work on next session:
Butter > PDX mirage > rpt: Should be hitting 20 contacts of this by now. Averaging about 8-10. Push yourself here.
Infinities. Should be hitting 10 by now, avging 4-5. Remember to drop my weight with the bag and BREATHE.
Whirl. 20 attempts each side each session.
Drifter. 20 attempts each side each session.
Flip pixie. Hit at least 5 flip PLOs and smears each session.
Ducking. 30 ducking clipper attempts each session.
Osis. 50 osis attempts each session.
Spinning. 20 spinning clippers each session, 20 gyro mirages.
Illusions. 10 in a row on each side. Go for 20.

Monday 1/22 1.25 hours
Total hours played in 2007: 14.75
Played at the gym. My endurance is improving. This was the first time I can remember shredding for over an hour solo without really taking any breaks. By the end I had sweated through most of my shirt. Several 20+ contacts tiltless strings. Pickups were super easy for some reason, I was hitting a ton of them. Didn't really go for any big tricks, just focused on the basics. Haha, my session reports must be getting boring to read. Towards the end I decided to work on Osis and had kind of a breakthrough. I realized I was watching the bag too much on the side I was catching it on. So instead, what I did was as soon as I felt the bag delay on my foot I would turn to spot the bag on the other side and think of it as a clipper on that side. That helped a lot! I was able to hit the following shiz:
osis > infinity bs
osis > pdx mirage bs
osis x 3
Before I could really only hit far legover or near mirage out of osis, this felt soooo good to have more control over osis. I need to work on osis more next session. I would LOVE to get this move solid. I think I can do it
Capped off the session with 27 minutes of cardio on the ellipticals.

Great work on the Osis Ben! Sounds like things are getting a lot easier for you. And they may seem boring to read but it doesn't matter as long as you are improving.
Keep up the good work. And I've been following your advice on my Flipside, I hit an assload of Flipside stuff last night. Thanks!

Wednesday 1/24 1.5 hours
Total hours played in 2007: 16.25 hours
Session with John in some parking garage in downtown Austin. I felt like I was in the Eli Piltz "Undefeated" video
(If you haven't seen that you need to go Flipsider or YouTube and watch it, one of the first freestyle videos I ever saw, blew my mind).
Played pretty well. Hit like 23 tiltless just warming up
It was something like this:
[Clipper > Mirage] > rpt > [Clipper > Far Legover] > rpt > [Mirage > Legover] > rpt > [Pickup > Illusion ] > rpt > [Clipper > Pickup > Legover] > rpt > Butter > Infinity > PDX Mirage > drop
Also hit my first tripless link! I've never really tried really hard to link a 4>4. it just came to mind so I attempted it and hit it first try
Dimwalk > PS Mirage
Spinning was back on. I hit:
Spinning Clipper BS several times, almost BSOS
Gyro Mirage BS, getting easier
Experimented with Inspinning. Almost hit inspinning toe.
Worked on osis some more too, no real breakthroughs, just put in the time to work on the move. Also worked on hitting pixie sets out of more complicated stuff like symp mirage and ducking pdx mirage.
John played awesome. DATWs are getting easier for him every time. I saw him BSOS it again. He also hit swirl a bunch more times, and towards the end of the session, after several solid footings, finally hit flip swirl.
I need to dexercise. My flip pixie is way too far behind my strong one.

Played at the gym but the session did not last too long becuase shin splints kicked in pretty quick. I had a feeling if they hadn't it would have been one hell of a session. Hit a few ~15 contact strings. Worked on osis, was able to hit some stuff out of it.
30 minutes of cardio on the ellipiticals
