Yea it seems to be very good to practice both sides as i have been "hacking" for a couple of years now. Is a mirage/illusion pretty much like the pickup/legover except the setting foot is the opposite foot is the one that ends the trick?

yes, exactly. With mirage/illusion the bag stays on the same foot and it changes feet with pickup/legover

oh okay. my only problem is that every time I try to bring my leg around the bag when doing an atw my leg either hits it or my leg doesn't go fast enough.

Don't worry it'll come in time. Every moves feels impossible the first several tries. Just keep working at it. Make sure you are setting straight up and dexing with your calf/ankle area. Don't rush things, do what feels currently comfortable for you. You don't want to rush things and hurt yourself somehow. If you aren't getting around fas t enoughstill try setting just a pinch higher to allow yourself more time.

Yea, I've definitely improved a lot since yesterday but i think I'm setting the bag wrong. Are there any tips of setting the bag right for any trick?

Different tricks recquire different set heights and placement... but a general rule of thumb is always stay "over" the bag, not literally bending over it though. Try watching some Anz Trick videos: http://www.footbag.org/gallery/video/instruction
Those will help out a lot. Other than that, just go to the freestyle section on Footbag.org and look at the trick tips for ech moves, and search through the topics in the Trick Tips here.

Well, the video's are extremely helpful, but ive postponed shredding until I get my lavers because playing in converse is just killing my form.

you can practice all your toe to toe moves barefoot while you wait for your lavers to arrive, give insides and clippers a miss though

I think Josh just meant "in the spring, when it is warm outside, come play with us."

Might be a good idea to check out the CIC or FCFC blogs in the Footblogs sections and introducing yourself as a Chicago area kicker & that you want to come play with people, and just take it from there?

You were playing in Converse high tops, right? That sounds like it would make clipper really difficult. Good luck with your lavers!

well i just got my lavers today, and they are pretty tight =/ but it seems that as i wear them longer they break in and become looser. I did the toe box mod and replaced the insoles. Since then my game has improved crazily, and that was 2 hours ago. haha, well hopefully i can get the atw down and ive done a few rakes and stepovers so far.

With ATW it helped me to stop thinking about your foot 'circling' the bag. For me it was more like an upside down tear drop shape.

If that doesn't make any sense maybe I can come up with some visual aids.
