A short road trip is a lot longer than most flights.

i am guilty of flying a lot, cause it is is very convenient and often much cheaper with all these cheap-o carriers around. hypocritically, i think people should fly as little as possible. airplanes burn OUTRAGEOUS amounts of fuel per person travelling. even driving across the states alone in a big-ass suv is better for the environment than flying in an airplane (even if it is booked out completely). i am really amazed that nobody here mentioned this, thinking that footbaggers are often kinda aware of things like that.
the convenience of flying is without doubt... at least we have a better train system in europe than in the states, which should really be the alternative.

According to The Economist, (magazine) for long distances and assuming each mode of transportation is fully booked, buses are the most fuel-effiecient, albeit, dreadfully slow compared to trains and planes.

Screw planes. I don't mind riding in them, but the journey is half the fun of going somewhere.

I've ridden a plane once going to disney world last year for a band trip and was a little scared. My second time will be this august going to the world championship(hopefully)

I was in Colorado after new years and the airport security took my toothpaste. They just said it was to big.
