I can conduct interviews. I think I'd like to start with Jan Zimmerman, a joint interview with Mads and Mads, Vojta Polak, Tom Mosher, and other famous scene starters. If I can set up some of these interviews, would you be interested in having them?

I think the idea is great and would definately buy it.
The internet magazine seems pointless to me, I would much rather be able to take and read a magazine anywhere I want than have to get online.

it is my opinion that making a footbag magazine in an online format will allow for a much better product (video media instead of still, interactive comment section on articles from all readers, online store, and on and on) that is much easier and cheaper to distribute on a far wider scale than a paper version of the same thing that one has to have printed and will have to mail individually by hand. you won't be able to carry it in your back pocket, but I think all the good outweighs the negative. And besides, these days, nine times out of ten, any place where your back pocket is will probably have internet access.

Those interviews would be seriously f*ckin awsome if you wouldn't mind doing that Matt. I'd really appreciate that. Send me whatever you come up with when you're done.

If you want to handle the player profiles, that's super-cool, Allan. Just pick a couple players you'd like to do it on and profile'em!

Some pics would be really great too if you wouldn't mind including that.

Online magazines would be cool too! Somebody else can handle that one

I'd like to see a footbag magazine in any format really, I was just pointing out some of the advantages of web-based versus printed. Printing a magazine is more expensive and is harder to distribute too.

One website that I read everyday is http://www.slamonline.com. It's a basketball website which has good articles, comment sections for the articles, good presentation, and links to videos. I think it would be a good template for a footbag online magazine. I think Eli was talking about turning Flipsider into something like this, but he didn't have time for it.

As for articles/interviews, I think it would be informative to have a throwback section, where an old-school player is interviewed. Give the newbs some sense of history and their elders.

I don't know how current you want content to be, but i'd be amenable to letting you use some of my older stuff (Tom Mosher interview, "Do you know how luck you are?" essay). Finding people to contribute regularly is the bigger trick though. I think monthly release is a bit ambitious. Quarterly may be more realistic.

I can do the stitcher's section of this magazine. However, I won't submit my work knowing that I'm the only person to contribute into this. I think there should be a small discussion preparing (probably on Footbag Chat) what should be written and presented to the public on this section of the magazine.

What I mean is, every stitcher has different favorable aspects that they like to put into their bags. Take for example, myself. I enjoy stiffer (and sometimes) thick colors, floss for thread, and steel shot and seed beads for filler. Reader's would see it as a biased claim. It's like videogamers discussing the Fall line-ups for different gaming consoles, or which vehicle would have the best gas mileage for your buck. It should only be fair that every experienced stitcher should contribute.

Say, you think I could be in a committee of stitchers with a long table in a high class room with comfy chairs on wheels where we all dress super professional and talk about nothing but stitching and whatever?

i think you should use tabloid paper rather than legal. tabloid is 11x17 so thats half of letter.

i would be happy to help design this magazine. if youd like help with that, just PM me... im going to school right now for that and id like more practice.

The more I think about this the more excited I get about it.

I definately see what you're saying Matt, and I'm still undecided... but I also think it would be cool to see how a print magazine would go. It's a tough decision. But Ben's obviously already made up his mind so I guess it isn't a decision anyway, I think both would be awesome.

I would definately be interested in investing a lot of time in this. I'm excited to think of what could be done with it. I was also thinking the same as Waylon, that we should get a group of dedicated together and have a chat as to what we want to do with the whole thing.

I'm also interested in some design work if it's needed. Although I'm probably not as good as Holly, I think I can design some cool stuff

I definately do want to start designing this soon, and some help would be super great. I've got a snow-day today, so I think I'll start a kind of rough blue-print. I'll post about it when I'm done and then we can discuss it/make changes. I'm realizing now though that I will need more time to shove all the articles together once they start coming in and if I want to publish in April, I'm going to set a more specific deadline. March 18th will give everyone enough of time. Lemme know if that doesn't work for somebody... Although I don't see why it wouldn't.

I'd suggest a spot in the magazine for tournament results.

You could also ask someone who goes to a certain tournament to write up a review of it. Kinda like a blog post, but you could have it geared more towards the magazine readers.

I was at Staples today and it looks like the printer that can handle over sized paper is too expensive, so I maaaay just be forced into using legal size... I don't really think that that's toooo big of a deal. At least to start... if the first couple editions go over well then we'll upgrade for sure. Maybe I'll find a cheaper one and we'll have the 11x17 sheets to start off with, but... whatever. I also looked at the possibility of having the mag printed proffesionaly, rather than me doing it at home and we're looking at nearly friken two bux per sheet, so 5 dollars wont cover that at allll. I don't think that's the way to go... I'm still in search of a cheaper way to do things. I plan on doing all the cropping and the formatting myself (with some help designing

), so once I do find the printer, ink will be the biggest expense... although, ink was recently stated to be the most expensive liquid on the planet. I think that might just be common liquids found in standard homes, but still... it left all the other liquids in the dust. It's pricey shit. Oh well. We WILL have a magazine this April!!!

I really want to have tournament results included. I think that would be super-duper cool. I definately plan on having them included. If we could cover all the tourneys in the world that go on within the season that said magazine pertains to that'd be prime.

I would like for this magazine to work on a global scale. ...I'd like to at least start out that way... if it proves not to work, then maybe we'll cut it down to just NA, but that's truly not the plan. I hope that I can find some european support soon. Covering that scene will be huge.

I also really like the name Blurriest.

A solution to the lack of video could be to have "Blurriest TV" or whatever you want to call it. A website with video content and maybe news updates or whatever. Videos could even work together with the magazine content, you read an article and it has a link to a complimenting video? Just an idea.

Ben, what help will you need in the graphic design department? Maybe you, me, Holly and whoever else is interested could chat sometime to throw some ideas around etc, and divide up workload once the articles are in?

I think that event reviews should go along w/ event results.

also for trick tips, maybe have one 1 add trick, one 2 add trick, etc. through 6 or 7 add tricks per magazine.

Maybe this magazine could help people get sponsored as well. It worked for thrasher, snowboarder magazine, etc.

I really think that a magazine, after a few editions have been published, would greatly increase the amount of sponsourships that go on in footbag.
