College Footbag Clubs

Post by tstep84 »

This is directed towards those that have started or belong to a footbag club that is recognized by their University. Carrie, Drew, and I attend Temple University. We are interested in starting a club on campus. Last night our ambitions were increased when we were told we weren't to play in the atrium we have been for the past month or so. The atrium is in "The Student Activities Center." I think what we were doing, fell under "Student Activities."
If you could answer some of the questions or have other info regarding this, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

How have you benefitted from starting or participating in this on campus footbag club?

What connection does your club have with other Campus Affairs?

Does your University provide you with resources that you would not have if you were not a University recognized club?

What obstacles, or impediments did you face if in starting this club?

How effective is your club in getting for people into footbag?

Tell me a little bit about your club also. When you meet, for how long, How long have you been around, has the club grown since its inception, how difficult is it to keep it start one/ keep it going.

I have a really tough semester. A lot of writing/reading intensive courses, plus many agencies I have to make time to visit each week. I don't like starting things and not finishing them. So any help you can provide I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

Tom

Definitely start a club. It makes recruiting easier when you can tell people you are an official university club, and you get perks like being able to have a booth at the activities fair (really key for recruiting) and you can do things like reserve a weekly spot on campus.

Starting a club isn't all that hard, provided you have enough people. Usually you just need to talk to the university to find out what are the requirements, and they're never that hard. Its usually just drafting a constitution (you can copy one off the internet, or find a similar club and copy theirs. We copied the juggling club constitution), having a minimum number of members, and going to a couple meetings.

Good luck.
