This blog doesn't get much use right now, so I'll post the dates I'll be out of town this month and next so you'll know I won't be at the park on these Sundays.

March 9-11 Footbag demonstration-Toy Show
March 31-April 5 Baltimore Maryland
April 6-8 Footbag demonstration-"Footbag Day"

How far is LA from Santa Cruz?
I could have looked it up myself, but then this wouldn't have gotten bumped.

About 6 hours. Are you going to be in LA any time soon?

Hi cutie pie. :-)

Santa Cruz update:

Jeremy = a total net-head. :-) He's throwing his first net event next month, which should be a lot of fun.
Fletcher is injured for the time being.
I am just not playing much. Trying to pass my math class so I can transfer to UCSC in the fall. Fletch will graduate in June (good for him!), but Dustin and I will still be school mates. :-)
Dustin is (right now) the only active freestyle player in town as far as I know. Watch out, he has already started training for worlds.
Max was in Las Vegas last weekend. His 2's are getting better and his string length is getting a little longer.
Matt Marks still exists apparently, because I heard a teacher talking about him the other week at school. After talking with the teacher, I'm sure it's him. He still has my pair of shoes that I want to lend to Kathryn.
Kathryn works on toe stalls and inside/toe kicks when she is in a circle, which isn't very often as far as I'm aware.

Fall 2007

Emily's school schedule:
MWF 12:30-3:10
W 9:30-10:40
TU/TH 10:00-11:45

I'd love to figure out a few days/times that we can kick on campus every week. I'd like to figure this out before school starts so I can plan my work schedule around it.
Dustin, what does your class schedule look like?

Edit: might as well...

Santa Cruz update:

Jeremy Excluding Worlds, I think he has played freestyle two times in the last 6 months. BUT he did really well for his first time competing net at Worlds and has made a name for himself.
Fletcher is recovering by playing freestyle and net. :-P He now has a full time grown-up job.
I haven't had a real session for three weeks because my knee started to hurt. I will start at UCSC in about three weeks. My knee feels better.
Dustin is not in town for another three weeks or so as far as I know.
EJ I'm not sure if he's kicking freestyle these days but he's getting better at net.
Christine started coming out to regular sessions in the Spring. She didn't have Lavers yet but seemed really interested in coming back in the fall and learning more. I sent her an e-mail letting her know that I haven't forgotten about her and that I hope she hasn't forgotten about footbag. :-) I asked her to e-mail me once she gets back into town.
Brian S. and I played a few times a week after school let out. He didn't return my last phone call. The last time he did that I left a threatening note with his roommates.
Max hasn't played for a long while as far as I know.
Matt Marks doesn't exist anymore.
Kathryn went back to Switzerland but she'll be back in a year.

Yep I'm not back in town for a couple weeks. I'm really hoping we can get Christine and Brian back once school starts. Hopefully your threatening messages will work. Also I have an old pair of lavers that could fit Christine. I remember we were talking about it one session (I don't think you were there) and our shoe sizes weren't that different but it was one of the last sessions and my old shoes were at home.

Anyway here's my schedule...

Monday
Math Methods lecture 9:30-10:40
Physics lecture 11:00-12:10

Tuesday
Linear algebra discussion 8-9:10
linear algebra lecture 10-11:45
math methods lab 4-6

Wednesday
same as monday +
math method discussion 5-6:10

Thursday
linear algebra lecture 10-11:45
physics lab 12-3

Friday
same as monday

My schedule got kinda of crazy this quarter. The lecture's are the only thing's I really really have to go to though. I can probably get by doing the labs by myself sometimes and not always going to the discussions but I won't really know till school starts.

Anyway MWF it looks like I could easily play after your last class.

On tuesday we could probably play after your 11:45 class but on thursday I'll have a lab (*note I'm not sure how vital that will be)

Anyway it looks good It'll be fun getting to play in santa cruz again :)

Hi all. :-)

I was going to make this post in my blog but I feel like it belongs here more.

Well this is what I get for not posting right after a session: I have no idea what I hit during the last sessions. I guess that's what you get for me not making a quick post. Anyway...

Scott Davidson was in town a short bit ago. He came to SC and kicked with Dustin, Brian, and me. Here's a pic of Brian:
Image
So the extra super cool thing about this session was that we kicked outside in a public place. You know, exposure and all? Yeah, it never works. Even if someone seems interested they just walk away in the end.

By the end of the day I had gotten three e-mail addresses, one of which is for a girl, all for people who were interested in coming out next session to try it. No, this is not me getting my hopes up about doubling our active club size. This is me thinking it's way neat to get three people's e-mails, that's all. :-)

-Person one thought it was awesome.
-Person two is a girl who thought it was awesome and watched from a distance for maybe 15 minutes before moving closer. Until she came closer I thought she had been watching while waiting for someone or talking to her friend. Nope, she was there because she thought it looked so interesting.
-Person three walked by and said "Footbag!" I wasn't really surprised about that because it has happened before that someone randomly walking along will know the name for footbag and just keep walking. Not the case. This guy knows Sam Potter, Allen H. and lived with Dan F. for 6 months or something. He tried a few tricks and hit a mirage and butterfly. Yeah, at that point I was excited. :-)

A week or two ago I remembered about the two people who came out a fair amount a few years ago, Alex and Steve. They had found out about footbag because they knew Lon from Grass Valley. I e-mailed them and invited them out. Alex doesn't live in town anymore, but Steve is interested in kicking with us at some point.

Then today I did what I don't usually do and randomly brought up footbag when talking with a friend/classmate. He was really impressed that he knew someone who actually played footbag and went to events. He said he's really out of practice and only ever hacked, but that in high school it was his life for like 2 years. I invited him out to the session on Friday.

...now let's see if anyone besides Dustin shows up. :-P

Do you guys kick at all? anyways I was wondering what time were you guys leaving for San Diego? IF its a good time I was thinking we could do like a prekick session and have a train of Footbag cars going on! Or rather I'm too lazy to know where to go :)

Yes, we kick regularly but Dustin and I both have blogs to post in if we want, and the other people don't visit Modified. We kick MWF 2:15-about 3:45, then we usually go play free pool in the near by cafe on campus.

I'll PM you about the car stuff, but I know I'm not interested in kicking right before a 9 hour car ride. That sounds like a recipe for cramped muscles to me. :-)

Oh you best believe we kick. Like emily said MWF and for one week or so we tried MWThF but then we went to Steve's on Saturday too and decided that 3 days in a row was not a good plan...

From Anne, taken when she visited us in Santa Cruz. They're blurry but I like them a lot, especially the last one.
