Damn! My name wasn't even mentioned in the whole topic.

I guess I'll go practice.

Oh yeah, The answer is still Kenny. He's the only player to hit a 9 add.

Let me get someone's opinion on this:

Can someone vote if they haven't played with all of us?

Every player is superb in his/her own right. This is like asking a crowd of people what food tastes the best. I don't think this question should be limited to 3 people, however far above the curve they are. I understand your overall goal but I just think it is useless to ask so broad of a question. If you were to narrow it down to specifics, like who can hit the best Whirring Swirl or things to that effect, then it would be much easier to vote. But you are talking about overall. There are simply too many different deciding factors for different people.

I was about to say the same thing!

Also, 'not sports icons'? Aside from being completely untrue, it's also insulting to any players who are working towards generating some income from the game via sponsorship/competition.

Also, fuck you Dave - lol it's the internet and I don't have to be civil! (the implication here is that I thought you came off a bit harsh considering how thoroughly Jeremy disclaimed his post, and also that your defense was silly)

The connotation of a sports ICON is someone that is seen in the media everyday by millions of people and makes their living off of the sport they play. You think any of the three people in discussion fit that profile?

I'm not dissing them at all, and I have HUGE respect for all three of them, or I wouldn't have even posted in this topic. I really wish people would try to read points instead of nit-picking on semantics.

Just to chime in on the Jim's form thread -- I love Jim's style but Jim has terribly inconsistent form. Watch his form on clippers in different moves and watch how his clipper form varies on the same trick. eg. a ripstein of his may have differing clipper placement from execution to execution. This holds true for a lot of his tricks. What's more, he has a super flexible body type. Watch his nuclear set and his superflies. But before you bag on Jim's form, watch his core, his pace, and his execution. For Jim's body type, Jim's form is perfect. The problem is that Jim's form cannot be replicated by the vast majority of players. I was recently of the opinion that Jim has worse form than the other two, but clearly Jim is throwing down at the same level. Thus, the issue isn't that Jim has poor form, it's that he is probably not the best person to learn by watching. Maybe trick selection, but definitely not form. For that, watch Dave or Jorden. Dave and Jorden both have impeccable form that the average player (in terms of body type) will be able to glean a lot from, if they look for the right things. There are a lot of players in the same boat as Jim if you look around.

As far as the best player goes? I've played with all of them enough to have a good feel for their game, but at the moment I have no idea which one is doing the best. This doesn't take anything away from any of them, though. They're all cool as hell and rep harder than most people on the planet.

we would all love to see more footage of you guys :)
Lon, is there any recent footage of you online?

As for the three players mentioned in the poll, I think you are all sick shredders and I think it's unimportant who is the "best". Keep shredding hard everyone :D I'd love to see more footage from all of you.

i think ive learned more by playing with jim and watching him, than i ever would have if i had schooled on my own. I dont think i could learn anymore for dave or jorden, its the fact hes better than me that helps me learn from him, i mean sure he give me tips from time to time...but for the most part all i do is watch him......

They're being discussed by footbag fans on a footbag forum. This qualifies them as footbag icons. Not outrageous.

Of course it's best to be tactful when talking about other people, be it Dave Clavens or Micheal Jordan. But by competing in anything you open yourself up to criticism from your peers, and by being fucking fantastic at something you inspire criticism from your peers. These are facts - I didn't make them up and I don't particularly like them, but they're true.

For what it's worth, I hadn't posted in this thread because I agree with your sentiment and think the topic is insensitive given that the subjects are regulars here. I just think it's less polite to tell someone else he can't talk about his sports icons on a forum devoted to his sport, especially when nobody has said anything hurtful.

I don't know about you, but I'd be stoked if people were talking about how I was one of the top 3 shredders in north America.

Yeah, so would I. Eh, it was just a point. I'm just the type of person that would have that conversation in person with a few people instead of broadcasting to an entire forum about how Jim's form isn't as good as the other two. I guess I'm alone in that sentiment.

Usually when players try harder tricks there form slips. I know this was the case in the last video. For example my blurry reverse torque may have not been the best form. I know I've hit it better. But I hit it out of nemesis. So it was harder to pull off. Also, you can't judge a person's entire game on a couple videos. When was the last time you played with me? I can't remember being in a circle with you. So that means you're probably judging me on my videos or from past tournaments neither of which represent my current level. And I would say YOUR not the best person to learn by watching. How many years have you been stuck at the same boring level? With your "slidey foot" style. Everyone's entitled to an opinion. But at your level you're better off critiquing newbs.

I hope people are having fun with this poll. I personally don't see anything productive coming out of it.

I've played a good bit with all 3 of these guys, and what matters to me is they all entertain me and make me want to play footbag. They're all fucking awesome. They shouldn't have to be posting in this thread defending themselves or measuring their cocks against each other.

Its not my fault that the posters in this thread aren't mature enough to set their egos aside and just hear some player opinions. After all, opinions of lesser players mean nothing except that we may use them (if we choose) to modify or enhance our games if we feel the desire.

Guys, you don't have to defend yourselves. I just want to get a feel for the general concensus.

Let's just get all the possible "best" candidates to post their most favorite 30 seconds of shred. No fancy editing or amazing backround tunes. We'll all vote. If you don't win, you have to quit footbag and hide your lavers in shame.

Ok guys, I'll put in my best 30 sec video.

Keep in mind, i'll pick the bag up 3 or 4 times, and I'll get to cleanly hit a few basic tricks, maybe some harder attempts. :) who can do better? ha ha just kidding

maybe that will calm this down.
