Andrew Grant - King of The Jungle
This video is dedicated to Steve Irwin, the real king of the jungle.
Taken from a 1 hour solo session i had monday night. Not my greatest shred as i've had some nasty shin splints the past coule days, and i don't think any of the runs are something to write home about. However, i'm just really happy to be able to play, so every run has something i wasn't able to do (with out pain) last year, and it could be as simple as a flipside fairy set, so don't get excited.
i've been trying to work on my form recently, so there aren't many big tricks, and althought you may not beable to tell with the music, any one who knows my shred from around 2005 should be able to notice a different level of control and speed (i play a heck of alot slower!)
Been having trouble getting the compression right. it was either too shitty or too huge, and this is the best i could come up with. i'm trying one more compression, and if it's any better i'll repost that.
so without any more yakkity-yak...
[edit] did a version in mp4. it's actually smaller and better quality...

Awesome man! Very nice Blenders and Torques, really smooth. I like your form and speed a lot. It's not too rushed and not deathly slow.

Great video. Liked the editing. Little soccer break there in the middle was pretty funny.
I was like, wtf?!
You were sooo close to that one trick. Scary. Have you gotten it?
Last link was sweet as pieee.

Favy video in a long time? you bet!
I loooooved all the butter swirls! barfly>flurry?? too sexy!!!
The editing was juuuust right, if I was good at edititng I would do it just like that.
Amazing music choice too.
Our strings are really similar now eh? The only thing is that you can do lotsa things I can't. (fogs and pdx blenders and stuff)
You're the best Andrew.
Your number one fan,
Tom

i think so. i've hit it a bunch, but i have never seen it on video, so i can't be certain if it was clean. i've had people tell me it was clean, but again, when it's that fast it's hard to tell. monday was just not my day, but i thought it worked well with the video.Isilwar wrote:You were sooo close to that one trick. thanks for the comments Tom. i haven't seen a video from you in a while. maybe it's time again eh? I know how monotonous tripod footage can be, so i tried to mix it up a bit with the editing. looking back on it now i think the first black screen was way too long and i should have filled it with something. oh well. expect more butter swirls when my shin splints go away!

Heck yeah!
that first chorus is from a louis armstrong song. Good Choice
It's great that you can play more now. Hackrifice seems to be pretty notorious for injury. Looking great. I love the way your pdx blenders look. You rotate your torso and it's just right there. The toe2toe rocked. pretty much everything rocked. It's always interesting to tweak your form here and there.

Wow. That was really well done. Normally I am not impressed by videos I watch, but that really got me. I was pretty glued.
I thought your style was really on. You hit a lot of good concepts. You have lowered your arms so you look less.... sky praising.
You hit things pretty solidly, good form on most tricks. You do some nice links. The blurry drifter>ss butter swirl was really neat. bsos too I believe. barfly>flurry midstring totally unexpected. Good janis and everything, only one looked low.
I'm happy that you are still playing. You were one of the coolest people I met in montreal. I hope one day we can play together again.
Keep up the good work. Thank you for sharing this.

I'm prolly coming to Winnipeg again this summer right after Worlds (I'm missing folk fest this year
). Hopefully another session can be had with the Hackrifice crew?

Thanks for breaking it down. That was really helpful and I appreciate it. I will definately check out the set. I am an electronic musician, and by no means I purist, but I have great respect for the skill that is involved in making great art, ie: classic DJ'ing.hacksterbator wrote: for those interested the tracks were:...
The number one reason I ask is because I evaluate each in different manners (though the final aesthetic is the imo the most important.)
I am blown away by your style. I'm glad there are cats like yourself, Vasek, David and Jorden (Etc..) that really integrate all of this hard work and creativity to this sport. The way that the video was all captured in one general perspective really enhances the sort of Street Fighter II-80's breakdance aesthetic that I love.
Also, since I studied art, I thought I would interject a little bit of rhetoric, via:
Giorgio de Chrico's Mystery and Melancholy of a Street.
The exagerated perspective of this painting is supposed to encourage a sense of paranoia. It is accredited with the imminant attack of the creeping shadow above. The surrealists were big Freud-heads. All about paranoia man.
I bring this up because as an unrelated (to footbag) aesthetic, this angle really (for me at least) reinforces not only the jilting, kinetic nature of the sport, but it also reinforces the taste in cuts both interms of music and video.
I think before I went to school I would have been like, yo, that shits dope and shit, but you put together a surprisingly unique, and challenging style/vid. Fuck yeah. Some of you motherfuckers just rock.
