That was a very well articulated post Jeremy.
Hey, I apologize again if the banners offended people. I stated that they were merely jokes while we waited for .ca to come back. It didn't come back. The baby Vasek one was ESPECIALLY funny to me because I thought it was silly for him to have a baby picture of himself on his website. I guess no one went to the Vasek site except me. Also he never posts here, probably never reads it. It was just meant to be a joke to last 2 weeks.
I don't know what else to say, but I agree. All the 'jokes' have gotten a bit stale now. I'd be happy to make some more professional looking banners that I'm sure people would be pleased with. Also, let's just bring back the old .ca banners as well. It would take me less than 10 minutes to photoshop the new web address into all of them using the original fonts. I'll PM Mike and ask him to send me the old banners.

I had multiple reasons for requesting the removal. I did not state all my reasons, only the one I thought most others might share. I didn't feel I need to explicity state every reason. I am a rational person and if there were a good reason for a banner of naked child on a site such as this I wouldn't have made the post to begin with most likely.Jeremy wrote:In fact you didn't bring up the idea of "making sense" at all in your first post. Was it wrong of me to assume that your opposition to the banner was for the very reason you stated for getting rid of it? That seems like a pretty safe assumption to me.
Ok.Jeremy wrote:I also did not say that your opposition was because of paranoia.
Lastly my issue beyond people thinking I am viewing questionable material in the library is more so not to offend others. I am not afraid of people thinking I am looking at kiddy porn site because I know I am not. However it might offend people walking by. My library is on a very PC campus where people get easily offended. People here are sensitive. Also my school library has know problems with people viewing porn on the computers. I don't need to make some staff person near by nervous over a misunderstanding on their part. Hope I explained myself well enough to address your issues.

the text on top of the picture basically explains why that picture is there.
it seems like the only thing holding back your request is the presense of mike hansen... and people are trying to get a hold of him. i suggest in the mean time that someone (zilla and other volunteers) come up with the replacement banners, that way when mike gets around to doing the replacements then it will be simple and fast on his part...
...also, if we do that then people can say what they like or dont like about a banner, and we can decide if something is "offensive". i suggest if you have a banner, then post it in this thread... and we can all give input.
edit: suggested topics for banners
new online comp banner
worlds banner
emilys pajammy jam banner
etc.

I don't exactly condone taking down the current banners, but I would definitely like to suggest more sporty banners to visually influence the integrity of footbag. Like, sometimes when I see the banner with Johnny Suderman resting up after a warm-up of footbag, that gets me more pumped up to play whenever I surf modified. There's definitely some impact whenever people surf these forums, that whenever they look at the top of the screen, they would see the banners and immediately define modified as so.
Plus, it would definitely help influence more players to play more. I know I have a lot of problems motivating myself sometimes. It helps sometimes to visually train my mentality before I start playing, and that gets me riled up to enact on it.
I guess what I'm trying to generally make mention is this: less jokes (acceptable always however), more sport.
Please don't take my post too seriously on the matter.

I think it would be funny to have baby pictures of myself on an forum that's surfed world wide!! Shall I sent some in?james_dean wrote:I know I wouldn't appreciate baby photos of me being put up on the forum.
I don't care about the banners that are up right now... if they bother some people, take them down. I think some fresh banners would be cool regardless.

Does this mean pengpeng is my sister? or is she matt's sister? I havn't really watched the movies.
I always thought it was kinda weird having my face as one of the banners in both banner sets. Though if I am not in any of the new ones I will fucking kill all of you!!!!!!
I hadn't been self-concious about baby vasek in the library until now, thanks jon.
