Here's a reason, though I don't know if its enough of a reason...

The company I work at monitors media outlets for mentions of our clients & their products. Once this magazine is online, I can get it into our monitoring system. One of our clients is a certain shoe company that you all might be familiar with...

So, if your articles mention certain fairly obvious things about footbag equipment, this shoe company's PR staff will become aware of footbag. That doesn't necessarily guarantee anything, but who knows?

Also, in case you are wondering, we don't monitor message boards. I've already looked into monitoring some of the Footblogs here on modified, but we can't do it. If anyone were to make a blog at .blogspot.com or something like that, we could monitor it.

Jeremy, I had my heart set on a printed magazine too. Believe me.

The book lets me use a more reasonable budget. I'm far more interested in creating this book than I am about creating the online magazine at this point... That's where most of my focuss is directed. It'll be great. I promise. I really hope that I can get support from everyone on this project. We'll need alot of articles. The deadline for stories/articles/artwork/etc for this book wont be until after Worlds, at least, so we've got time. Once I know more, I'll elaborate more...

How much does a good mag cost? Maybe one of these days in future 07 we should all chip in a little and make a kick ass printed magazine.

Just cuurious, do you want more player profiles now? I've got 2 already and 2 on the way. How does this affect the number?
I'm not necessarily psyched about the change but the end result is almost the same and equally helpful towards Footbag so I'm for it. Plus it's good that you are persuing your desires Ben.

And one more thing, does the deadline for profiles change then?

It's mostly the printer and the ink that are giving me troubles. Plus I'm unemployed right now... If we start off as an online mag, that'll give me time to get on top of my situation and we'll be able to print a super-def year book.

We still need articles for the online magazine if that's what we're going to do. In all honesty, I'm not too thrilled about the online mag. I would really love it if somebody else would just handle the online mag part and then I could really focuss on the yearbook. There were some people that were stoked about the online mag! I just think that it would be a much better product if it was created by somebody who was truly enthused about it. I'm "enthused" about the yearbook.. that's my new baby.

I really hope that I'm not disapointing anybody.

Can I suggest once again that you involve flipsider into this process. It's crying out for exactly the type of content you are looking to accumulate. Perhaps people could look to get their work up via flipsider and for your annual yearbook you would select and build on the best that came out each year - not only from flipsider, but also from the ifpa (I'm sure they'd let you reproduce articles from their newsletter, and no doubt you'd eed them to be altered an built into something slightly different for the print format), as well as taking direct submissions.
