 12-13-06 1 hour

Good session last night didn't hit anything new but still working on concepts and I started taking Matt Cross' advice where I warm up my legs by kicking consecutives for about 10 minutes before I start and after(as well as streching).

Break down:

Clipper to Op Clipper : 10 non stop
Osis: 10 contacts
Flip Osis: 6 contacts
Mirage: 6 non stop
Flip Mirage: 3 non stop
Legover to Op Legover: 10 non stop
Pickup to Op Pickup: 4 non stop(need to work on more of these)
Double legover from clipper: 2 contacts
Double legover from Toe: 1(harder for some reason)

Moves have down but need to get more comfortable with:
Flip Illusion
Flip Whirl
Flip Rev Whirl
Op Spin

Trying to work on:
Osis to Op Osis
Flip DLO from clip
Flip DLO from Toe
In spinning both ways
Stepping concept
Pixie concept
Fairy concept

 By concept I mean going into other moves after stated move.

Edit: Finally hit page two of blog Yeah!

Yo man. Good to see you are drilling and schooling that flipside. Don't worry about sets. Yes they are a path to more ADDs, but they're not as important as mastering your downtime concepts. It's OK to fool around with them from time to time but don't force them. They will come. I can do stepping and pixie on one side, but they just sort of happened one day. I only do them periodically because it's fun to hit stuff like ripwalk, but I still can't hit 10 infinities. That's much more important.

Master legovers and ATWs, pixie will come
Master butterflies, stepping will come.
Master pickups and ATWs, fairy will come

Keep at it, keep playing. You are making good progress.

Oh yeah, I watched that video the other day. Toe bails = yech :x Main thing, SLOW DOWN. It consumes energy and hurts your style to play that fast. Watch the new Matt C (freestyler4life) video, he shreds reallllll smooth and slow. That is a style we all should emulate.

Yeah still playing!

Had a couple of good sessions. Finally hit sym mirage for the first time two days ago LOL. Awesome! Mostly been working on form, speed and control so the next time I get filmed(Hopefully NYJ), I won't look so sloppy.

Sucks b/c I'm just a touch behind getting drifter and torque! I'm keeping my fingers crossed b/c I'm hopeing I'll hit them sometime this week LOL Not drilling just trying here and there. I'm not going to rush anything.

Props on symp mirage :) That's a fun one. Just be sure once you start hitting it consistently not to do too many in one session (more than ~10). They are strenuous on your body, and you may not feel it during the session, but you will hurt a lot the next day.

Go for SS Symp Mirage aka Symp Pixie. Kind of a goofy move at first, but a good variant on Symp Mirage. You toe set, then switch feet so your set foot is planted and your other foot is off the ground, then do a symp mirage. Kinda messes with your brain at first to do the plant-foot-switch, but fun to do once you figure it out.

Hope to see drifter and/or torque hit soon! I footed drifter 3 times last night, so that's extra motivation to you to hit it before I do :)

I'm not gonna footblog for a little bit b/c I'm working on trying to get a video footblog working so everyone can tell me exactly what I'm doing wrong and what specific tips would help me, I'm looking for tips on form/height/speed/etc... It's gonna be like a new start LOL! I have a digital camera to get the small stuff like basic stalls, but I'm going to get a camcorder sometime next month so quanlity will be alot better when I get that.

 1st Video Blog

Here is what I did up right quick to help me out with this video blog. I tried to hit two different styles of each basic move so that you guys could tell me what I'm doing wrong with each one or even which style I would use for that move. Hopefully this will work out for the best Here are my first video blogs

Note: Again I note these first videos are not that good b/c they are on a camera, I will be getting a camcorder next month so the quality will be a lot better later on.

P.S: Sorry about that sweat pants it was late night and I was washing my footbag cloths for NYJ! Also it was done late night so was doing the videos kind of quick and didn't get to work on the section as throughly as I wanted to, but hey it's a good start :P

Ok, sorry about not posting lately but been doing a lot of stuff with, school, work(mandatory OT at that), and Family. Still be playing but just not as much. Going to start the Video series over b/c I was looking at them and they sucked LOL. Got a camcorder so video quality will be a lot better.

Been trying to hit SS swirl, killing me b/c I keep footing it everytime! Oh, well it will come to me someday. Haven't really gotten a chance to drill lately but have been shredding. Oh, Jocelyn(my wife) decided to try and start playing also! it's good stuff just starting out but I got her to hit toe stall and inside stall first night, in response to that she wants me to cook Vegan meals for here once a week(oh another thing to add to the list LOL).

Promise to keep updated and really sit down and work on this video blog thing!

Laterz!

Hey man, those clippers are coming along well. I loved the baby clapping for you in the backround. Keep at it. For your swirl, I'm not sure what ss means, but if you watch a video of vasek, or penske or people who are good at swirls when they do swirls or ripsteins there is a little hop for every time you swirl the bag, it is about right as the bag is going up and then right as your doing the dex. And it is not really a hop, but raising up on your toe. I'm confusing my self. I'll see if I can find a video.

here http://www.footbag.org/gallery/show/-ripstein-ales.mov
ales doesnt do the two hops for the ripstein, he's just a beast, but he still does one. Notice how he doesn't leve his foot, but the heel comes off enought to help with the set and getting around for the swirl.
"...You have to get, really, practice, like eight hours every day. Then you get good level and then you can compete....There is no money, so players are like big family and that is what I -like" -Vasek-

Tom,
Thanks for the comment, I'll have to get on that video blog thing sometime this week! Just keep putting it off.

Reid,
Nice to hear from ya again man! Thanks for the tips on Swirls I'll have to drill until I can get it. I'm so close though!

Also SS = for me equal Strong Side( I know a lot of people use it as Same Side!)

Yesterday wasn't to bad of a session just getting a shred in for about 30 minutes. Didn't do anything new but still working on Torque, swirl, hop-over swirl, drifter, and different spinning method. Also working on clippers and drifter clippers off and on. It's a lot but I figured I should be able to get it down at by least next month, especially with the video blog and help.
