a look at the future of footbag. whats your opinion?

at the moment i cannot imagine how the playstyle of footbag would develope. the only thing i can think of that shredstyle will remain but become harder with harder and new tricks or links in it. i dont see any reason for a general change. well but who thought of shredstyle before kenny shults? i guess noone, so maybe we will be surprised with something new, too?. do you think the limits the top players have reached will become standard? of course its hard to say, who knows what will be in the next 10, 20 years. the other thing i can think of is that the bags will get a new quality and magnetism on shoes will be used. maybe there are more game variations such as 4square. like hitting the bag in a basket or something. what do you think footbag, the equipment and how its played will change in the next 10-20 years?

Personally, I think that there will be a resurgence of Footbeg Net, and not just because I happen to like it

When the freestylers of the present generation realize that they are to old to be busting theie top-notch freestyle and they want to develop a new aspect of their game, many will switch to net and Net will again flourish. in no way will this diminish freestyle, which will likely always rule the land.

One of the biggest changes I see re: footbag is simply in the extent to which it will become pop culture. I think it will eventually be used to teach eye-foot coordination and cooperation within school PE curriculums.

I do think tjhat within 25 years, there will be a shoe company selling shoes for footbag, although I don't know whether they will be offered in major retail stores.

I can't imagine magnets would become acceptable. A great man, Andre the Giant, once said, "it doesn't seem very sportsmanlike." But improved equipment over the course of 10 - 20 years seems inevitable.

The way to see 10 years into the future is to look 10 years into the past.

I think the biggest evolution in "shredstyle" (:roll:) is emphasis on form. Being sloppy used to be acceptable, as long as players were going hard. Today I think more players make an effort to have nice styles and refine how they hit moves instead of just hitting them. It is a very good thing of course.

I think aliens will come to earth and find footbag to be the highest form of socialization and make all people who participate into leaders of this world after they set their new laws for our planet. we will be fare rulers but strict forcing everyone, who is able, to atleast kick and love each other no matter what.

Truly there is no way to predict the future, but a good guess is that if and as the game expands four square will become the most popular disapline, and i think that is the best way to get people interested in the game. It's easy to learn and all you need is kicks and you don't even have to be good at kicking. I can see children playing four square in school in the future but again who knows. the nose knows.

magnets would not be unsportsmanlike. They would just be realy friken stupid. Think of the huge increase of difficulty that you would play with if your bag was always being sucked downward toward your feet! The hardest thing in footbag is sets, magnets would just make things way harder... maybe some other use of magnets (I can't think of what) is slightly possible, but putting magnets on catching surfaces would be a bad call, I should think.

I think I will simply wait see what happens over the next 10-20 years and then answere this question acturately.

Very weak magnets would allow the bag to get drawn to the foot more, but the set would still be quite possible.

I see more women playing as well. I think that's one of the few sureties for the future of Footbag. I could see Footbag in the Olympic as well possibly, I mean... if curling can make it, why couldn't we?

Curling is in the olympics because:

1. Winter olympic sports need far less support than summer olympic sports.

2. Curling is very popular (relative).

Footbag isn't in the olympics because:

1. Summer olympic sports require more participating countries than winter olympic sports.

2. Footbag isn't popular.

Ah, I can understand that. BUt either way, I can still eventually see Footbag in the Olympics, If anything probably the Routines and Shred 30.

But as has been stated, it's impossible to tell other than just waiting those 10-20 years.
