Heroes(the NBC show)
Any of you guys have a nice new site you are watching this from? The old one has been down for a week or two, and torrents aren't possible for me (rules of a program I am in,) and all of the sites I can find are either slower than a tortoise with shin splints from lavers that didn't fit, only clips, or a different show all together...

I've watched all up until yesterday's (16?).
What a slooooow show. It sucks; nothing ever happens.
I voted for Hiro as favourite, 'cause he's soooo good!
The invisible guy is pretty wicked too, and I like Claire too.
There's so much bad acting.
I mostly watch for my comic geekdom.
Stan Lee cameo as the bus driver in #15..
That painting of Peter turning invisible beside the beat-up taxi is totally by Frank Miller... Some of the building paintings that we get a brief glimpse of after that (when he's looking for Peter for what's-her-face) look like his style too. I also used to read a bunch of Jeph Loeb stuff which made me geek out when I found out he produces the show, or whatever.
This is all totally being set up for Syler and Peter to ultimate battle! They both absorb powers. It's like Pokemon -- a race to see who collect the most. Except I don't really understand Syler's powers. My girlfriend's sister thinks that his original power is to be able to understand how things work, and so cutting open people's heads helps him decypher their powers and use them himself...?

I was thinking the show had too many characters. And that they jumped around too much. They never seemed to stick with a character for more than one scene. But the show a couple weeks ago was all about the cheerleader and her family so it was a good change. And this week I thought it was a pretty good show. Peter is still the best. Now he goes invisible all the time. But the last show ended with Syler cutting into his forehead! He'll get out of it though. Probably just use his invisibility then fly out of the room.

:p I don't think I even noticed this. I blame LOST for that. I guess I am too use to long drawn out stories that go no where. I actually thought Heroes was kinda speedy plot wise.Erik Chan wrote:What a slooooow show. It sucks; nothing ever happens.

Thanks for the NBC link, but outside of america, or at least in germany anyway, they don't want you watching it...
Personally, I think that the earlier episodes were far better, but now I'm sorta hooked whether it is crappy or not...
Oh and if you wait a day or two, go to
http://www.dailymotion.com
and watch any show you want....Usually in three parts.

What do you guys think is going to happen, will NY blow up or not. I think it will, they haven't really been able to change anything that was predicted yet why would they be able to change this. I love this show, I don't normally like shows like this because they are passed really slowly but this one has super powers and stuff.

it looks like from tonights episode they're setting up peter blowing up, but surviving because he can heal.
also has anybody read the Alan Moore comic "Watchmen"? Cause the main plot of heroes is basically lifted directly from that novel. Anybody else think so? I won't post any spoilers yet, just wanted to put that out there.

Sorry, but I don't quite see the conection, other than a postmodern superhero story with some mystery.junkyardjew wrote:also has anybody read the Alan Moore comic "Watchmen"? Care to elaborate a little? I mean, I haven't been following heros very closely anymore, but...
Who's the Rorschach character? Mohinder? I guess I can see that... or is it the younger Petrelli brother?
Who's Doctor Manhattan? Syler? He fits the power profile, but he's sort of playing for the other team... Hiro? Again, his personality and the role he's playing aren't right.
Who's Ozymandias? Linderman? I don't quite see that. The cheerleader's dad? Or the agency he's working for? Maybe...
I don't know... I think its a bit of a stretch to say its a big rip-off. Like I said, their premise has some commonalities, but those are hard to escape in this era. And Watchmen, you might say, really began this era of postmodern, deep and intelligent comics, but in that respect alot of good stories of the past few decades borrow something from Watchmen; its influence is pretty big. That doesn't mean that everything is just a big rip-off, though. Or, I guess, maybe EVERYTHING IS, but again, I imagine it must be alittle hard to avoid for anybody writing in the superhero genre.
Oh, and by the way, only one superhero in The Watchmen actually had any kind of real super-powers. The rest were all relatively ordinary people (excepting possibly Ozymandias, who was somewhat extraordinary in body and mind, but not really in a genuinely supernature way) with various skills and motivations to play at costumed vigilantism.
In that respect at least I'd say that Heros is more like an elaborate and modernized retelling of, say, an X-Men origin story, or something like that.
Hmm... I wish I hadn't given my copy of Watchmen away... and to somebody who probably hasn't even read it yet, and won't appreciate it... I wanted to give him The Dark Knight Returns, I think its more accessable to somebody who's not already reading those kinds of comics, but I was in a hurry to produce a present for him and every store I checked was out. Too bad.

Not the characters, when I said main plot I really meant main plot -Care to elaborate a little? I mean, I haven't been following heros very closely anymore, but...
Somewhat of a spoiler alert:
basically Linderman wants to blow up new york to unite the world in fear and put the elder Petrelli brother in place as a leader with dictatorial powers.
not exactly a hideous fake alien creature attack ending war by uniting the world against a fake common enemy, but not a long shot either, and for a show targeted at least somewhat to comic buffs, maybe a little blatant. Its even the same city they're gonna blow up!
and if I'm right about where the show is heading, there's gonna be the same last minute attempt to stop it, which will of course fail, and then the good guys will kill the "bad guys" but still reap all the tangible rewards of the horrible plot.
on a side note, how good would a serialized tv show based on the Watchmen be? I would fucking love to see that.
