Shit. It's been around a month since I posted in here.

Anyway. I had a good session with Sam Neale the other day, and I'm gonna shred again with select Fatties and Mosher / Bagi tomorrow.

Anyway. From yesterday:

-Wauxpin (out of nowhere)
-The Clipper Drill in reverse (10 then 9 etc)
-Some 30+ runs pretty consistantly
-Some 10+ guiltless almost consistantly

Ok. I guess there weren't that many great highlights... but it was an amazing session with Sam, the first time we've played just him and I. He had some crazy shred too... I'll let him post that if he likes!

Yoyo,
it was great to meet/shred with you!! Your sickly long tiltless strings are inspiring, like, seriously inspiring. I'm goin out tomorow and aiming for my longest tiltless string, no more practicing super hard tricks.

Hope we can shred again soon!!
First think about how to practice or don't bother practicing.

Agreed.

It was a pretty good session for me. It's just been in the last couple weeks that I've actually noticed people liking my consistency, i.e. above other things.

As Tom said, I have to work on Guiltless, but in working up to that just I have to throw some more hard tricks in my normal runs. I plan on using tiltless to set up / recover if need, and set more, spin/duck more, etc.

Downtime guiltless needs work too... so many guiltless downtimes require a lot of energy... or maybe they don't, and I'm just not efficient enough at them yet :)

Jorden is so efficiency minded, and has what I like to call a Zen-like approach to footbag. Just thought I'd drop his name, as it's these philosophies that I in part owe my consistency to.

For crying out loud.
Cars are cool, but in the end the money and the hassle sometimes make you wonder if they're worth it.

Anyway I played footbag today with Billy Hladik. It was fun, anyway.

There was really only one highlight I wanted to post.

The clipper drill 1-10 and back down, completed 6's before dropping.

170 dropless clippers, 85 on each side.

I was almost sick after from exhaustion. Everyone should do it.

I had an amazing session with Alex at York yesterday.

Apparently Adam was helping Alex work on his rhythm and style of execution and it's really paying off. His strings are actually becoming strings, not Trick > Regain balance > rpt.
So props to both of you, I was really happy to see / hear that.

A guy named Jared (some of the older FAT members might know him) stopped by and played for a bit in his Doc's, but is bringing his shoes next Tuesday for a session. I'm excited to play with someone new! It's one of my favourite things!

As for myself, I am really excited about how I played today.

Spinning Clip > Ducking Clip > rpt for about 20-25 contacts. It totally just kept going.
Lots of DLO, Drifter, Whirl etc bs
Run with Magellan > Dimwalk, Spinning, Whirl, and Stepping all bsos
Paradon bsos
Lots of tiltless runs over 30, lots of guiltless runs over 12
5 b2b Spinning Clip bs
Whirl > Spinning bs

I ended with a really long run (around 40) and sat down. Then I thought... wait a sec. I stood up
I hit Skullsmasher
I sat down again and ended the session.

Dude that's one hell of a session. This was by far my favorite highlight:
Lackey82 wrote:Spinning Clip > Ducking Clip > rpt for about 20-25 contacts. It totally just kept going
I've hit ducking clip to spinning clip and vice versa on each a few times, but never BSOS and never like that. Makes me want to skool that shiz.

170 clippers is nuts. You've totally inspired me to skool clippers. Come to think of it on my long runs I almost always drop on clippers so it would probably help run length in addition to aiding all clipper based moves :)

Keep up the good stuff. It's good to see another player close to my level (but definitely above it in your case) that is focused on schooling the fundamentals and doing long runs, rather than posting only about the 4>4 combos they hit and the new 5 that took them 112 tries in one session to finally hit. (Awesome how skullsmasher was 1st try, XDEX totally counts on a crazy move like that).

I think I'll be reading this blog regularly from now on, hope you keep posting in it :D

Your skill undoubtedly surpasses mine, however, this is giving me a very nice goal to try and obtain for when I get back to Toronto.

Any chance you can get Mr.Chan and his nice shiny camera to get some new footage of you any time soon? I'm really eager to see something new, especially with these runs over 40 contacts.

Thanks a lot for the comments guys. This blog goes through highs and lows on my priority scale, and you all help keep it on my mind. The mutual respect in this community is amazing.

Ben:
I've been working on guiltless drills and such for a small while now, as it finally feels like long tiltless only is getting to be same-old, you know? I'm pretty happy with my consistency overall, but I still need to guilt, especially with Mirage, to recover from some tricks (Torque, Drifter, etc.)
Anyway, it means a lot to see people with the urge to work on more endurance and really refining the tricks they can already 'do'. Keep it up, I'll check your blog for Spinning Clip > Ducking Clip > rpt soon! :P

Jay:
You know, it's surprising. I've never been really happy with any of my on-camera shred. I'll include a nugget from quite a while ago just for fun for you though!
Anyway, keep it up. You're improving fast and I can't wait to shred with you. Push yourself to hit longer and longer strings. It's nice to develop a rhythm and shortly into think, "Oh! I'll try this!" and drop. Sometimes you need to fight that just to get used to going forever.

Since replies are done now, I'm going to post a few highlights from the pre-Breakdance Show at York University. Hopefully a vid of the footbag demo from the comp comes out soon. Unfortunately for me, I didn't get to see the show, and actually ended up having to leave just as Paul Agostinelli and Chris Dean and Camille were showing up... that pissed me off, but whatever. I'll school harder and shred it up with them even better next time! And we got our FAT shirts, what a bonus!!

- flip Pdx Drifter
- Catacomb
- Beta Blur
- Swirl / Rev Swirl bsos
- footed Witchdoctor a bunch
- Spinning Clip / Merkon bsos
- Toe Drifter > Drifter bs a bunch
- Paradon bsos

I need to learn Quantum... although another Clipper set would be better...

I played outside for the first time this season. It was cool. Dirty, but cool. I had the notion to play shirtless, but the new FAT t-shirts are just way too darn cool. Heh.

Anyway, Greenwood made it down and the guy Jared that I mentioned earlier from York brought his Lavers and played for about a half hour. Cool stuff!
Greenwood hit some post-worthy tricks and links, but I'm sure you'll see some of that in the Shred Symposium!
As for me:

Toe Drifter > DLO > rpt
Midstring GYBAS
Eggbeater bsos

Lots of good strings, some guiltless, some... not. However, I have been starting to spend healthy amounts of time on not tilting. Progress is steady, something I'm happy to feel again. I have some new goals to work on, and hopefully I can do so in the sunshine more often in the next little while. Talk to you next time!

Couldn't play with FAT today, as I got home from work late and had a couple family commitments. Anyway, in lieu, I played in my living room for a couple hours. It was pretty cool.

High Points:

Guiltless run w/ Spinning Clip > Whirl > DLO bsos

Dimwalk > Ducking Mirage > rpt

Toe Drifter > Rev. Swirl bs

Pixie op Dyno

Pixie / Fairy ss Rev. Whirl / Dyno - Dynos all on the same foot... grr. Next session will have serious attention on flip Rev. Whirl components.

Pixie ss Clip > Diving Clip > Stepping Legover bs

Both Near DLO / Toe DLO bsos – This deserves a comment. Iron Clad Ben has been giving DLO’s a lot of work and inspired me to hit all 4 DLO's in a string, so thank you. I decided I’d do it tonight since it would take a hard session of DLO schooling. Some hard work got paid off.

I also worked Whirls a lot, though I don't have any real highlights in that concept tonight. I made sure to hit all 4 Whirls each side a handful of times both sides, with some flip emphasis.

Erik, I know. Well, on the bright side, the Subway is going to be continued up to York. Not while any of us still have interest in it as a shred spot though, considering how long these things take...

TransCanada subway line! Oh man that would be seriously so sweet. Pay whatever the fee is, hop on, and in a couple hours per province you're there!

Amazing.

Anyway. Alex and Adam came to York today, joing myself and Adrian, a York-based sometimes-shredder. Good stuff all around. More shuffle than I usually do. I ended the session with a 42-contacter. My favourite quote of the day is from Adam: "Okay. Now STOP GUILTING."
I'll try.

No footbag today, though I feel the pull to go kick. I've been working my legs pretty hard lately, though, so I'll wait til tomorrow.

I jogged about 3.8 km today, which felt good. I haven't been going out nearly as much as I'd like. The whole time I was trying to equate the energy spent to footbag, and thinking about the cardiovascular toughness that running can bring to the circle. I'm gonna play tomorrow. It's gonna be a good time.

Dumpy mood the last few days.

Good shred.

- new guiltless record (23)
- Swirl & Rev. Swirl > Spinning Clip bs

Everything got the sauce too.

I just don't feel like enumerating it all.

Time to dig this thing out again. I'm actually rather proud of this blog; I don't know why I find myself determined not to update it. Well, here I am.

I've had a good amount of decent highlights over the past couple weeks.
Here's a recap:

Fog
Smog bs
Pixie Ducking Clipper bsos
 1st place MSJ2 Circles, Intermediate Division
Torque bsos
Shuffle record around 8
19 Guiltless... still need 25.
DSO bsos

Flip Atomic still needs work. Flip Fairy still doesn't exist.
Flip Stepping and Pixie coming along very nicely.
Dexless not much improved lately, but not bad.

I mean to work on some things today. We'll see if that happens.
