hahah good ole josiah!

I miss you!

You know what bag gets played with regularly these days?

The bag you made for me as a trade!! Whenever people are like "whoa this bag is sick!" I make sure to pipe in that I taught you everything you know. :P

I finished an assignment for one of my classes today! I feel so accomplished. This semester I am doing all my own work and I am still finding it satisfying.

KFM is tonight! Yesss!!!

I look forward to Thursday night at 7 so eagerly all week, it's the one guaranteed super fun activity that I do every week.

What tricks will I work on tonight? A bunch I guess.

Lately Ive been steering the multiverse pretty intensely and rather frequently.

There are some potentially impending impactful things afloat and I look forward to discovering which way it will all turn out.

I am at a unique turning point in my life right now where I am coming to the end of six years in Kingston and at Queen's University. In like.. 8 weeks or so I will be finished my final two courses EVER. After that my lease on my incredible apartment of 5 years will come to an end and I will move out.

I havn't moved out from anywhere in a long time, that means I have ALOT of shit. Like, heaps and heaps of stupid crap that I have acquired. I like my crap, I am the kind of guy that feels the need to hang onto things 'just in case', hence I have alot of things. If I didn't always seem to find uses for the crap I keep then I wouldn't keep keeping crap. What a sentance!

After Kingston I guess I will move to my parents house to regroup everything and figure out what's next.

A big part of me really wants to move to Berlin. Like, most of me really.

There are a million reasons why Berlin wins in my head as the best possible city to move to. The crazy thing is that in reality I get to pick anywhere in the world to move to. Any place would mean a total life reset and accustomizing to a new environment. Berlin lit my brain and heart up like no other city ever has, and frankly, why not??

So that would be the ideal next big step.

I really look forward to purging piles of my junk in a final goodbye to Kingston.

I still don't know what I will do for a job but with a mechanical engineering degree there will be many doors opened to me.

Ich auch verstehe ein bission deutch. Hah, I haven't tried typing it much before, I bet I got a bunch of that wrong.

Anyways, I have alot more to say but that will come in time.

I wish I typed in here as much as my mind wants me to. I am just so often busy doing a million and two things and I never slow down long enough to spew anything out in here.

Someday I will have the time on my hands to make this bloggy great with fun stories to read. It sucks that my blog makes it look like I don't do anything, the reality is that I am doing SO much that I don't have time to say what's up. Everyday is filled with wonderful hilarious experiences that are too numerous to share, how lucky I am! :)

You could always check out Osaka for a bit. You can even sleep next to me, but I like to hold hands when I sleep...

Man... Ive never even considered that before RIGHT NOW.

Geez, if I magically wind up with a ticket to Osaka then I will let you know right away. Oh yeah and I may need 'money' too but that's just a detail.

Count it entered into the mix of ideas smashing around my head.

KFM tonight was great!

There were FIVE shredders! (Three fixed gears too!)

Tonight was me, Derrick, John, Greg and Jared, go KFM!

We hacked and shredded a lot! The session ended with a game of massive 4 square. It was really a 20 foot diameter circle cut into four slices, it made for high flying fun!

I had a few highlights, best of all was spinning pdx whirl bsos to end the session! Ive wanted that forever!

I hit osis>pdx blender rpt, though I guess that is less impressive than blend>p blend rpt from the other day. It's still something.

Everyone else had lots of great strings too!

We played in lots of circles of different sizes and it seemed like people were getting props for every touch of the bag for a while! Very supportive and enjoyable.

I am so stoked to see Greg Raymond back in the circle!! He has such looong smooth cool strings and he finally has shoes with support so his body isn't dying this time back at footbag. He had been busted for so long and I was afraid I wouldn't ever get to play with him again but he is back and going strong!

John Bagi is making great progress as usual, geez, he needs his own blog to cover his progress. Solid guy.

Derrick is sooo smooth and shocking sometimes, he just comes up with the hardest most ridiculous combos that make me shake my head and then he actually busts them all in my face!!

After the sesh as John and I unlocked our bikes to head home to our wives in time to keep them happy this band from New York called Jupiter One was outside giving out free demo CD's saying they were playing tonight. People were declining the free CD's but I accepted the offer and grabbed it and thanked them.

I am glad I did too, turns out the main single is really catchy and I keep playing it. So go buy or download or something Jupiter One - Countdown, you will like it. Tell them Tom sent you.

Its not like back to the old class but its getting there..
Ich auch verstehe ein bission deutch. Hah, I haven't tried typing it much before, I bet I got a bunch of that wrong.
"Ich auch verstehe ein bischen deutsch." That is what I can see that is wrong :P Ich denke du bist sehr gut zu deutsch sprechen, mein ist sehr schlecht. I haven't written german in more than a year.

Berlin is the sweetest city ever. That and San Fracisco definitely tops my list.

I am seriously considering making it to Disneyland right now! I am earning soooo much money at the moment so maybe it will be possible.

It was 2004, I had been playing footbag for not even half a year and I was at the World Championships in Montreal.

After using the toilet I went to wash my hands and a few steps ahead of me was Ken Somolinos. We only just barely knew each other then, I wasn't a footbag superstar ( :P  ) yet afterall.

He did something then that really struck me. I'm not sure why he commentated his actions but as he shut off a tap someone had left running he said "well that's wasteful." For a while that comment only made me feel like 'why did he have to draw attention to his deed?' and not much more. Ive changed alot since then. Now, thinking back upon that memory I have a different reaction. Waste has become one of the things I care the most about and his comment seems appropriate. Even if all that was required was to shut off the tap, announcing the fault makes others more conscious of their actions to some degree.

Waste disgusts me.

It's easy to take thoughts of this nature to extremes, and so my head has.

I think that far too people view waste as a big issue. It ties into many/most of the big world problems we have.

Everytime I see something being wasted I envision plumes of pollution being pumped into the atmosphere for zero gain.

I see these plumes everywhere I look now.

How much energy gets used by scardycats needing nightlights?

How much energy is used to power peoples computers to read this post?

How FUCKED are we that cars are so popular?

When someone doesn't finish a meal I see people starving to death and more plumes going up from the machines that were involved in the harvesting, transporting and cooking, FOR NO FUCKING END RESULT!!! At my work we throw gourmet food in the garbage when a fat fuck orders it and doesn't want it. I regularly and shamelessly eat that food from the garbage. I hope Peng doesn't dump me if she reads that. I just can't bear being the 'end of the line' for that disgusting wasteful process of food production and let the food just go to waste.

How much energy does las vegas waste just to be a retarded gimmick?????

The problem is that so many people make enough money to feel okay wasting a little. 'who cares? we can afford it!' FUCK!! IT'S NOT A MONETARY ISSUE!!! Use your fantastic surplus wealth to do something good and beneficial, to waste ANYTHING is shameful.

It disgusts me how so few people feel like this is something to give a shit about.

I feel VERY guilty when I am wasteful, do you? If not, why not? Are you selfish?

I have so many footbags, that is wasteful. Food had to be made to fuel the stitchers, the fabric and filler had to be manufactured, so many plumes of pollution sent to the heavens for me to have a pretty footbag collection.

OMG I suck, I just ranted my way through half a class!!!!

Yep, I just WASTED my dad's hard earned money. Irony, it hits you when you least expect it.

I resent that

I agree that this world is wasteful. Our ecological footprint is exhausting the world. We need to eat local produce to decrease transport. Turn lights of when not in use. Increase usage time of clothing, and don't buy new clothes unless neccesary. Don't eat fish. Pick pencils off the ground instead of purchase them. PLant trees(only native). Take shorter showers. Bring canvas bags for groceries. Walk more, or ride a bike to places, or public trans, or atleast carpool. Internet has been good at reducing paper waste maybe? People send emails now instead of letters. Don't smoke, (ciggarette butts are one of the leading crap found on beaches, and anywhere for that matter. Limit children number to 2 to maintain or 1 to decrease. Reduce, reuse, and recycle in that order. [/i]

Last night Derrick and John and me had a fun session.

Neither derrick nor me were bitches! John likes it when he doesn't have to put out the fires that derrick and I sometimes spark up.

highlights:

- fairy ss blender bsos, first time trying trick
- blender>pdx whirl bsos
- reactor bsos w/sunil in seal string. (was kinda a joke because right before that derrick hit reactor bsos and then dropped on sunil :P I'm such a jerk)
- phoenix>ps whirl bs (maybe new)
- duck>dive>spin rpt
- zoom set gyro blender (styyyylish!)

There's probably more but that is still some good stuff.

Go watch the new takumi vids!!!!! The funny one had me laughing hard at times.

Today I write my last midterm of my life! whoa!

It's in biomechanics.. I guess it's fine.

For the last 8 years or so (heavier earlier on) I have been a 'user' of ritalin to help me do school work. In highschool it fucked me up pretty bad. I lose all my social skills and get irritable and become a zombie that hates everything... this didn't help me make any friends. The only friends I had in highschool were the few that hung out with me after school once I'd come down from the rits.

I absolutely hate ritalin and it's effects. But dammit it does wind up allowing you to get some work done I guess. So I am glad to say that I am very near the end of my ritalin dependancy. I have one midterm and two finals and then it's out of my life for good. I can't stand my head sometimes. I really CAN'T get it to work and study without help. My mind experiences this constant flood of thoughts and passions and drives that pull me in every different direction at once. The ritalin makes me feel so unpleasant that doing *anything* other than sitting and processing is impossible. How fun.

Aaaaaaaaaaaanycase. I am on the verge of alot of major life changes and I welcome them.

I get to purge so much shit from my life! Ive lived in the same house for 5 years now, it's the best place in Kingston and I am lucky and all that... but Ive filled it with shit! We're going to have a party where we have all our best friends come over and we'll give away all the shit we don't want. The rest of the shit we don't want will go to the good will or something.

Oops, time to go to school.

Maybe later today when I am all hopped up on ritalin I will get all obsessive and attack my blog and barf out a tourny report. My long overdue worlds, kickass2 and NYJ writeups are still in my head, perhaps ritalin will make me NEED to barf it out.

PS do people still read this shit anymore???

The amaretta from nathan arrived today! :D

I am motivated to stitch again!

I can't wait to see what my stitching style comes like with this material. It seems like most of the amaretta stitchers are big-panel-high-flange types and so mine will be something entirely different.

Amaretta is THIN! And it seems like (from my two minute rush inspection) that the colours are all pretty similar. Finally! I am fed up with stitching with inconsistent materials. Facile sucks sometimes.

Shit, I really don't have time to write here, I just wanted to share my fabric excitement.

Tom I read your blog. We think very similarly in a lot of ways.

I read about the clutter in your house. A great rule of thumb I heard about: "If you haven't used it in a year, throw it away, give it away or sell it". That gets rid of clutter FAST. We have so many things we don't need, and many of them if we do need them some time far in the future we can just go buy them for $5 or $10. I hope your purging goes well, you will feel GREAT once it's done.

I am definitely trying to be less wasteful too. I HATE bragging but here is some of the things that I do:

 I buy food from a local co-op. Not all the time, but most of the time. I own canvas shopping bags but always forget to bring them. DOH!
 I do not have a dishwasher at my house. I do it all by hand, consumes a lot less water.
 My car gets 44mpg highway. I still try to minimize driving when possible though. I live in a neighborhood where I can walk less places.
 I throw out all organic waste into my side yard. Hooray for composting!
 My house doesn't have central air or heat. If it gets hot, we open the window. If it gets cold, we put on coats and hats. That's how people got by 100 years ago, it works!
 I own a small TV, those big ones guzzle tons of electricity even when they're off!
 Between my gf and myself our energy bills are usually less than $50/month
 I have been vegetarian for 2 years ago and as of yesterday I am trying to go Vegan. Meat is sooooo wasteful. If instead of raising livestock to make meat for everyone we would have enough grain and vegetables to feed all the people in the world + more leftover. Also it takes 25 gallons of water to process 1 lb of meat, but only 1 gallon of water to process 1 lb of vegetables or grains.

Anyway that was more to lift your spirits and let you know there ARE other people out there being less wasteful :) Every little bit helps!

Congratulations with finishing up school and kicking the rits. I know you definitely have great things ahead of you :)

Hey Tom, I read your blog too! It's to awesome not to :P

If you do end up going to Germany, you will be pleasantly surprised as to how waste conscious they are in comparison. Since you went to Frankfurt, I'll assume that you already picked up alot about that.

Also, I was thinking about going to university for mechanical engineering as well, got any advice? Is Queens the place to go?

Oh, and when are these new Armeretta bags available? Your bag treated me well today ;)

Tschüß!

I really can't say if Queen's is any good for mech eng, I have nothing to compare it to. I think that any university is just a means to an end and you should think more about what the local city has to offer rather than the actual school.

That said, the school you pick does matter too of course, many things about Queen's are very good and even more are very bad.

As I leave Kingston a footbag scene is left in my wake, that makes Kingston like.. twice as good as it was before me.

Heh, it's pretty neat that basically all my friends here are shredders. What do people do that don't have life-encompassing passions? I guess they watch TV or something.

I have my midterm in 4 hours. bleh.

Back to the books Tom!
