ok, i've got this pair of airwalks, they are not the typical skate shoe. they are really thin material and not heavy at all. so i was wondering if they would be shredable, here are some pictures.

anyone else have any experience with these shoes? or ideas how to prevent pain from the shoes?

the best way to prevent pain from shredding in these shoes is to buy lavers. you might also consider the Fire mod on these shoes.

I hope ben rea reads this thread and posts about his experience with using non-traditional freestyle shoes and then switching to lavers.

that was funny matt because i was thinking you would post something like that!! i knew you were gunna bust my chops.

but seriously, i used to use shoes almost identicle to that (surface wise).I thought they were great for shredding and i used them for a long time. unfortunatly i didnt know that my game was being held back by these shoes. i finally got convinced by everyone on the forums to get lavers and ever since they have made the difference in my skill. You have to stick with lavers especially as a begginer, no matter how good you think your shoes are.

Moral of the story: Buy lavers

pure white ones are 30 bucks (not too bad) and pretty colorfull ones are generally 40 bucks.

yeah, i'm planning on buying a pair of lavers or gunits, my main argument for the units is they are much easier to find in color and my size than lavers, and where i have found them they are cheaper too. i plan on getting one or the other within the next two weeks, so i was basically wondering if these shoes that i've got now would be ok as a substitute until i get the lavers or units.

Most people will agree that they are usable, but inferior. If you already are progressing in these shoes, lavers will up your game at a surprising level.

Sandmasters suck unless you're a tall player or if you enjoy playing with large windows. Good hacky bag nonetheless, though. The Instructional DVD is good but not necessary. You can find Rod Lavers in most online shoe shops at a cheaper price, but World Footbag (and Freedom Footbags) have been long-time providers and sponsors of the sport of footbag and the IFPA. It'll be good to donate a few extra dollars if you plan to buy your Lavers from World Footbag.
