at my school their are all these people who have these stupid street names for all the tricks i ever do! Yesterday i did a mirage and this kid shreddin with me said " nice queens jester man!" and then i did a legover and he said " I can do kings jester too" ugh its so annoying!! where do these names even come from.. jeez...

lol, it took me about 6 months of playing footbag before i finally stopped calling butterfly's 'royal jester stalls'.

Now I just call them corpse grinders instead.

That only adds to its comic value.

If someone ever asks me 'whats that trick called', i would call it a flying butthole before i would ever call it a butterfly.

Some trick names are best cast aside around your average joe.

As for street names; legovers, pickups, pixies and fairies are all considered atw's around here.

About the only correct street name i've ever heard is the pendulum - and most people that i used to play hack with probably still think that pendulums are impossible.

HA! most people I played hack with would think a toe stall is impossible. Head stalls were BIG props back in my day. Now all those guys would have a heart attack

This is how it used to be in my world.
Clipper=Lazy Jester Stall
Flying clipper=Jester
Dragonflier=Atomic jester
Butterflier=Super Jester
Mirage=Reverse super lazy jester stall
Butterfly=Super Lazy Jester Stall
Osis=Oasis (I can't believe we were so close)

my one friend called butterfly the flying eagle, but none of my friends have ever hacked before. he said he saw it on tv somewhere.

drew, I had been wondering the same thing... then it dawned on me that they mean "the names by which these moves are called when you're playing with random hackers on the street".

The first guy I ever saw do DATW (first person doing good tricks I ever saw) called it Tornado.

We called dragonfly spider.

Let's not get into corpsegrinder again. It was meant as butterfly and toe in a weird way at the beginning. There's a thread. I hope I didn't open a can of worms. No one else mentioned it. Fight the urge to mention the origins of corpsegrinder. Let it be.

Yeah on another note: I don't mind the mod edit dyalander - this is your final warning sounding names such as butterfly, pixie and fairy, but it really makes it a challenge when you're trying to get new people into the sport. In such cases, I try finding ways to avoid saying the lame names. Ie, I refer to a butterfly as a toe set infinity lol. Pixies and fairies are same sided mirages and illusions respectively.

Once the person is into the game I might teach them the "pixie" set - and then go "ohh you can also call same side mirage a pixie for short". This way I can account for my misdeed and get them saying the proper names - A new player enters the sport without being put off by the mod edit dyalander as above names.
