I was able to play today with eric. PLayed for two hours almost.. What a nice day. The wind was blowing the sun was shineing. Oh it was a fabulous day. Probably one of the best days for shred ever. I don't think there will be days as good as this for a long time. I'm so lucky I got to shred todya. Amazing

im going to post some ideas i have about footbag in here. as far as im concerned this is my blog so if you argue with me or my ideas i'll more than likely ignore you or tell you to eat a dick.
i hate how people try to make footbag into like a magical journey where everyone has to go the same way. there's too much pressure to:
1. avoid add-hunting
2. be bothsided
3. always call it footbag (fortunatly less so recently)
4. play for the love of the game blah blah blah respect the sport whatever
my basic response to all of these is its just fucking hack you can play however you want. i mean i guess people are fairly understanding in terms of not being like you HAVE to do it this way, but people act like there's only one way to purely play the game. if your only goal in footbag is to hit a 7 add move, thats cool drill only the concepts you'll need to accomplish that and if thats all you want out of it than shit your all set. play as much or as little as you want, use only one foot if you want, play with no insoles on already injured shins if thats what you want (you wont be finding insoles in my units, thats for damn sure) and if you only play in hopes that the sport will sell out and you dont even care about the spirit of the game bullshit then im right there with you hoping the sport sells out soon. bad footbag karma? hahahaha. what a joke.

I felt like making a post, but didn't want to start a blog. This is as good a place as any.
I've played footbag four days in a row now - every day since my new bag came from DC (best bag I've owned, if anyone's interested). This is about the 4th time I've tried to get back in the game since I twisted my ankle and busted ligaments in summer 05, but each previous attempt was thwarted by a re-roll. It's also my third return to footbag from a serious injury or illness, having broken my leg in 2002 and being bedridden for about a month from mono late in 2003. I never actually played after having mono until a few weeks before I twisted my ankle.
I feel pretty good. Not playing any long sessions, not pushing myself. Listening to every squeak and moan from my knees, ankles, hips, and back. Slight pain has ended each of my sessions so far, but no rolls. It's been a while since I've had any aerobic exercise. I look forward to the health benefits.
My life right now is set up so that I can play at least 5 times a week, which is just what I want. Wake up > piano drilling (1hr) > weights (20mins) > shred (45/1hr) > work, Monday through Friday.
I hit my flip swirl for the first time two days ago, some 6 years after hitting the strong one. I hit toe barrage today, first time and first try after working some datws. I can't do tiltless strings longer than a few contacts. That's the last thing to come back anyways.
That is all.

awesome colin. i've obviously never met you or really talked to you on modified and i feel like its kind ok weird to talk to people you blatantly dont know like you do know them, but you seem cool and im glad you've recovered enough to play some footbag again and i hope your recovery is a permanent one.
anyway, so i had an epic frigging session the other day. i got a 6>5>5 on video that didnt share a single move as a real unique 5>5>5 i also hit on video. the 6>5>5 wasnt very original so i'll just tell you it was food>pdx blender>ps whirl (ok wicked unoriginal and one sided but whatever). im not sure what i will do with the footage from either one yet...wish i had hit either one like 3 weeks ago for the online comps...
in that session i also hit mind bender again.
goal for the next time i play: more infinity reverse swirl stuff like tombstone>infin. rev swirl
gyro whirl>infin. rev swirl
and im thinking
mobius>infin. rev swirl sometime in the next month.
here is spinning pdx egg from a few weeks ago.

pretty good session. i probably shouldnt have played, my knee hurts (first time in months
), i went to school and work today (somedays is only school) and im planning on playing a large amount tomorrow. but oh well, i didnt play long. i need to find my good shorts before tomorrow. couple highlights:
-void
-zoom style zoid midstring
-pdx blender>vortex>pdx whirl
-stepping same blender (flip stepping strong blender) i think first time ever on that side
tomorrows extended session should yield more resluts because
A. i'll be playing outside in
B. 50-60 degree weather with
C. my good shorts for
D. at least 2 hours total im betting
maybe even some 4 square, who knows.
edit-nothing to be proud of, but i just noticed im number 11 on the all time total posters list. certainly didnt picture that when i posted:

I didn't realize that you had set up shop in here Pete. Thanks for not telling me to eat a duck. Duck is too rich, I don't really care for it. I'll mosey on now, enjoy your blog-squatting and warming temperatures. Ducking osis > mobius is cool beans.

i had a few ill sessions in the past couple days. yesterday we got 3 footbaggers together down at the charles river and played some baggin. the kid from northeaster has an HD camera in his dorm and he stopped by radio shack after the session to buy HDV tapes for it or whatever. so we might be doing some filming soon in the common room at his dorm. should be ill.
had an even better session today i think at the park across the street. it was FAR too nice of a day outside to not play at all, so. plenty of little kids stopped to watch and eventually try it, and i fixed a chubby little girls chain on her fixed gear bike that had come off between ill guiltless strings. the highlight was right at the end when i hit "spyro" blender like gyro symple blender. it was so fresh.
and i copped a new track jacket at goodwill for 5 bucks...i think its rather pimp. i guess i'll take a picture. clean shaven for the first time in weeks too. good day.

BAMF!

i've also been mistaken for pete irish twice so far at footbag jams. you probably wouldnt from up close though.
had a late night session last night and remembered some more highlights from before.
ducking osis>pandora's box (i love pandora's box
)
stepping same clip>rip>stepping same clip>rip>side>stepping far clip>side>stepping far clip
pdx blender>parallax
i dunno maybe some other stuff. going to have a session at northeastern at 6:00 this afternoon, mostly so i can give the bag i repaired back to francisco (one of the 4 main boston footbaggers) but of course its a good excuse to have a sesh. i think my legs are up to it...they feel pretty strong lately.

session at northeastern was canceled so i played by myself, had a horrible session. only highlight was pixie rev. swirl and some stepping ducking which i havent messed around with in awhile. slept in until 3:30 yesterday and didnt play at all, meeting the gilf downtown today afterschool but im thinking i'll play tonight after that. also planning on kicking in worcester probably friday and/or saturday.
started a new bag last night using new templates. it looks like its going to be really small, but i like the new templates a lot so far, the pents arent as big proportionally and overall it just looks neater and more even or something.
it better stop raining and shit.

wow second session of the day (my first one got cut a bit short so i could play on the trampoline with my nephews--i was at my brother's house btw). it was somewhat unplanned and it went pretty damned well. i hit:
stepping whirl and blurry whirl bsos, but i think the last blurry whirl was the
heel set atomic same mirage
drilled flip pixie and flip atomic, which finally felt like it was coming back
footed tap>atom>rpt (sad because i have video of me hitting 5 contacts of this easily like over a year ago)
a string with sumo, blurry whirl, food, and pdx blender
atomic same pickup>smear (flip) --for me, pretty good
i need to stitch more and plan for CC2 trip.
got some AWESOME pics of me shredding down at the charles river. they'll show up eventually.
and on a personal note i had an awesome time chilling with taylor (the girl) all day yesterday. i likies.
