My blog title is so awesome. It's the best one out there IMO. I'm so keeping it forever. Some insanely awesome idea will have to come along for me to change it again.
Amber and I got a puppy last weekend. If you go in the post your pic section you can see pictures and a video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2qWAhuEsdIQ
His name is Tuesday. He's a bichon frise. He's very friendly. If he sees people or animals within 50 feet, he HAS to go up and say hi. He's teething so he nibbles on everything. He is sooooo cute
Everyone loves him. He hasn't learned to do #1 and #2 outside though
Also, he doesn't always sleep through the night and usually wakes up super early. As such I haven't been getting good sleep all week.
I had a couple sessions since my last post.
Friday 3/24 2 hours
Total hours played in 2007: 62 hours
Total hours played in Mar 2007: 18.5 hours
Session with Cody and new guy Jonn (not DaGoodSmoke, different guy). Ugh I felt like crap and I played like crap. In that whole session I really did not hit anything good. Also, the wind was blowing hard which was fucking up my mojo. I'm writing that one off.
Saturday 3/24 3.5 hours
Total hours played in 2007: 65.5 hours
Total hours played in Mar 2007: 22 hours
Still playing like crap. I just didn't feel like myself. I was dropping on the most basic shit. I tried some spinning sets halfway through the session and they turned out to be working well.
Spinning Clipper BSOS, twice
Spinning Butterfly BSOS, first time, first try
I think that is my 2nd ever BSOS 4.
I didn't hit any of my challenge drills but I think I will this week. I need to take a good NAP at some point. I think I'll shred tonight. Bad sessions happen, it's the nature of the beast. I hope the next one will be good.

I saw the video in the pictures thread! Cute little puppy you have Ben!
Bad luck on the disappointing sessions. The next few will probably be great though. ; ) And that's an awesome feeling, to have a wonderful session after a few shit ones!
Props on the Spinning though! Especially the Spinning Butterflies! Out of all the SPinning moves I've hit with exception to Rakes and the one Dyno, those are the most fun to do.
How did my tutorial help you?

Alan: Tutorial helped a little bit. It's like my brain knows what my body should be doing but my body can't do it. I'm going to try Mirken's technique and also another mental trick that I taught myself butterfly with. I still can't hit the friggin move, it's driving me batty.
Josh: thanks for the continued reading. Still in a bad run here, but I'm slowly climbing out of it.

Stuck to the RAW basics for this one:
Toe stall x 300 (not consecutive)
Clipper x 100 each side (not consecutive)
Butter > Osis > Mirage > rpt x 3
Triforce: 3 pieces

Session with Cody at the tennis courts. Slowwwwwly coming out my slump.
Notable footings: Flip Pdx egg (wtf? it's my flip egg and flip pdx illusion but it feels more possible than strongside). Flip DATW-in... gahhh so close. Gotta dexercise yo!
Cody was a on a big trick kick, he hit Mobius (footed flip), Blurry Whirl, PS whirl, Pdx egg (first time, "I got him coach!"), toe blur x 2, spinning whirl probably some other stuff I don't remember.
EDIT: How in the hell could I forget?!?!?! I'm gonna be a homeowner! I put a deposit down on a new condo that will be finished in the summer/fall when our current lease is up! W00tage! Now I just gotta shop around for a lender. The condo is in the perfect neighborhood and the price is a total steal! Heyah!!! I'm pumped

No, but I will be. The initial deposit to reserve it was $1500, that's what I put down yesterday. The actual mortgage downpayment will be a lot lot bigger.morsecode wrote:Dude, I didn't know you put down payment on that place. nice!
I just remembered last night I hit butter > pdx mirage > rpt 17 contacts new record I think. The combo is much easier when I magic hop on the pdx mirages.

You've got eggbeater ben - Nice.
I feel the same way about attempting pdx eggs too man, they just seem easier. I think its got something to do with the momentum of the move. Wrapping your leg around for that pdx illusion just makes it soo much smoother. I feel like i might be able to hit egg in the nxt month or so, but the first dex just doesn't feel solid. I'm going to try and work on leggy atomics and see where that gets me.
Spend a couple days and just Work on torque man, you'll love it.
fast plant + baseball pitch style mirage(leg swing for momentum) + laid out clipper(clipper pulled out of the cross body position) + upper body driven osis + spot the bag! + turn head away (:P just so ya don't forget) = torque
Attempt it from all 4 setting surfaces to learn the move better. If you feel you've got the motions and the timing then your good. Just keep trying different sets until that bag lands on your foot instead of beside it. I found that setting it from the same leg you dex with (but keep everything downtime) is the easiest cause ya don't have to plant. If you can hit it this way then your well on your way to hitting it from every set.
Btw, pm shredzilla for the 10 second video he had in his sig yesterday. Its a close up of him doing torque in slow mo from a great camera angle. It basically taught me the secrets to torque. He's got the technique dialed and makes it look easy. Just watch that vid!

Think stepping set, but w/ out the dex. So while your setting from a clipper, hop on your support leg to go under the bag. This will position your body to the opposite side of the bag for an easy mirage. This basically makes the pdx 'leg snake' much easier. Took me forever to find a vid of this, but here it is- Enjoy.beenjammin wrote:magic hop? Video please!

What a weekend
Friday 3/30 1 hour
Total hours played in 2007: 70.5 hours
Total hours played in Mar 2007: 27 hours
Solo session at the gym. After having hit flip eggbeater a couple days before I was determined to do it again.
Eggbeater BS
Bubbabeater
like 3rd try. Using flip eggbeater. It actually feels easier than toe eggbeater for some reason. I tried hitting it strongside but no luck. I ended up hitting it like 4 or 5 times.
Some other crap. I really need to post soon after my sessions or I forget a lot of the strings I hit.
Sunday 4/1 3.5 hours
Total hours played in 2007: 74 hours
Total hours played in Apr 2007: 3.5 Hours
Eggbeater BS
Bubbabeater BS
SS Eggbeater BS (kegbeater?)

Blur BS almost BSOS
DLO BSOS a bunch of times
Spinning Osis a few times
A bunch of long tiltless/BOP strings with the occasional 4 or DLO/egg thrown in.
I played at this outdoor concert/skateboarding thing. Got a lot of stranger props. Gave a flyer to one guy, maybe he'll get into it. He thought what I was doing was awesome.
After I got home, I made a video. It's part footage of my dog. I just wanted to show some of my double dexes. I was really worn out so there really aren't any strings in it, just single moves mostly. I'll definitely make a full length video this spring. It's got eggbeater BS, DLO BSOS, Blur BS and one bubbabeater. I couldn't hit it on strongside
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=srJfzNXX_nQ
EDIT: It's Monday now. I am soooooooooooooo SORE. Just in my hip joints. All those eggbeaters... owwwwwwwwwww.
My hips ache something awful and I have a big bruise on my thigh where I kicked myself attempting an eggbeater or a bubbabeater or something.

and Tuesday is awesome!
Your next task: Go to the bathroom.
Wash your face.
Put your shoulders hunched upwards.
Look really, really slowly upwards towards the mirror like in the movies
And slap yourself in the face.
With your game face on.
And go shred with jim.
It'll work, trust me.

Session with Cody and John
Bubbabeater a couple times but only with flip eggbeater
Eggbeater BS, but only once on strong side. Hmmm
Some spins. Some pixie. Flip pixie is improving but didn't hit anything other than flip PLO.
A few long runs 25+, TONS of toe tiltless. I can do that shit forever.
Footed Whale Tail (gyro DLO) both sides
The first time was just a total shot in the dark, coming off a long run wanted to go for something big, it was flip DLO and I actually came pretty close. Then REALLY close on strong side. Like rolled off the foot, shoulda had it. The trick definitely feels possible now that my DLOs have gotten more solid. Very soon, I will hit this, both sides
I need to work on infinities and just clippers in general. Right now I can only do 3-4 infinities, 6 or 7 if I'm lucky, which is down from what it used to be. I prefer toes, but clippers are fun
I hate to say it, but I'm not drilling clippers enough.
Shins hurt today, hip does too
Also, Cody and I decided we are going to drive to Worlds. It's 17 hours. If we do it in shifts we should be fine. We have a couple other people in mind to ride with us. My car gets 40mpg, so it turns out to be much cheaper than flying when we do the math. I'm PUMPED! With the money we save doing it this way I might be able to afford to fly to the US Open again. That would be sweet.
Day off work tomorrow. Fu Manchu @ Emo's Friday Night. Elvis On Speed @ 710 Saturday. Booze and Rock N Roll baby, YEAH!
If I feel healed on Friday I'll play. Maybe even do some filming

You really have long nice tiltless string, I love to do some like this from time to time, but yours are very good. I hope I see you at worlds ( hope I'll be there ).
I remember you we're asking tips on drifter, I been doing some lately and I noticed that doing the mirage more leggy than usual helps, that way you just have to continue the leggy motion to the opp clipper instead of hippy mirage and stop before rushing into clipper. It should be one big motion I think. That's what helped me but as I told you I'm beginning to do them so I'm really not a master at them. But maybe you are doing the same mistake than I was, and from your last vid that looks a bit like that. Hope that helps!

Mat thanks for the tip on drifter. I fooled around a little bit with leggy mirages last night and I can see what you're saying. Weird concept, but it seems viable. I footed toe drifter BS doing them leggy style but I really didn't have the patience to give it a good 20 tries each side.
Dear footblog,
I am still in a footbag slump but I think I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. It has been rainy and cold lately. I have fallen off the wagon with quitting soda and I am not doing well with veganism.
In good news, the whole condo dealie is coming along well. The asking price has gone up $10K but since I reserved mine I've already locked in the lower price. I got pre-approved for a loan of way more than what I need. That was suprising
I think I basically just made 10 grand, assuming everything goes through
I did not play footbag on Saturday. It was raining and I was feeling sore, hungover and lazy. I did catch up a couple sweet concerts this weekend that you can read about in the Arts & Leisure subforum. They were great. I think the only time I drink is at concerts these days. I got pretty crunked at both of them. It was nice.
I got 3 new Ben Rea bags in the mail on Friday. Once I have a few more sessions with them I will post a review on them. So far so good. They play very close to as good as 32's, so at less than half the price I'd say they are a very good deal.
I bought some mats from Lowe's (thanks Maraxus) and they seem to be working well. I only have 16sq ft and it's not enough. I need to get some more. Hopefully they will help prevent injury and soreness in the future. I am stretching like a mofo before and after every session and I still get soreness.
Tuesday 4/9 1 hour
Total hours played in 2007: 77.5 hours
Total hours played in Apr 2007: 7 Hours
Gym session. Pretty much just worked on the basics
Legover > Mirage > rpt 21 contacts first try, first run of session. Good start.
Butter > Pickup > Mirage > RPT > Butter > Near Legover > Illusion > RPT
Gyro Mirage BS, fairly easily
Illusion > Pickup > rpt 15 contacts
SS Butter > Infinity > RPT a few times. I need to get to 20 contacts of this. I should be way better at this.
Ducking Pdx mirage. This move is so easy these days on strong side. Easier than even ducking clipper. I need to work flipside more so I can BSOS it, flip is sketchy.
Pixieage. Flip PLO, a few strongside pixie tricks
Stepping, osis and spinning were teh suck
Stopped when shins started to hurt again.
Footbag to do list:
Call JABPRO peeps about TX state tournament
Work on infinities/ss butters for MFJ shred 30.
Drill 2 sick 1's for MFJ. (4-add Safety trick is locked
)
Come up with a few sick 3's for MFJ.

Dear Footblog,
How are you? I am doing well. I had a session yesterday with Cody.
Wednesday 4/11 2 hours
Total hours played in 2007: 79.5 hours
Total hours played in Apr 2007: 9 Hours
Highlights:
Some cute combos I hit:
Butter > Near Legover > Mirage > Illusion > rpt
SS Butter > Infinity > rpt 7 contacts
Butter > SS Butter > PDX Mirage > rpt
Other crap:
Toe Drifter
FINALLY!
Eggbeater BS, footed BSOS twice
New side has become new strong side
Gyro Mirage BSOS
Yeah boyyyyy
Footed Blizzard, Blur BSOS off the foot on flip.
DLOs and spinning were kind of sketchy. Need to practice them more, kinda lost consistency on those. Flip pixie, baby steps, baby steps, a few good looks at flip smear, but nothing concrete.
Stoked to finally hit a friggin drifter! Many thanks to MatS for his tip to do the mirage dex leggy-style. That was very counter intuitive but helped a great deal. The move definitely feels more and more possible every time I attempt it. My body is getting used to the motion. On flip my body stills try to do dada curve instead of drifter
Footbag to do list:
TOE TAPS!!! Proactive shin splint preventiion
Work on infinities/ss butters for MFJ shred 30.
Drill 2 sick 1's for MFJ. (4-add Safety trick is locked Wink)
Come up with a few sick 3's for MFJ.
Got in touch with the JAB productions dude. Tournament is looking to be pretty sweet. They will hunt down sponsors and provide trophies, cash prizes and scholarships. We just need ppl to pay an entrance fee $30-$75
9/22 in Houston is the anticipated date. More later.

Props man.
Sounds like you've been slamming away at everything in my absence, even in your self-proclaimed slump.
Keep it up man. With me, the more Spinning I do in strings the better they get, not so much with individuals. Today I couldn't hit Spinning Whirl at all in my attempts but then I did a small string and said what the hell and nailed it for the first time. Try that out for size and see how it works.

Yo Ben! I'm pretty stoked to kick with you at MFJ. I expect to see 1000% improvement since last time or I Kill. It's coming up soon, I really hope to get my car all fixed up in time. If Arnie were still around, he would have it done faster than kevin crowley's sex drive.
That's .2 seconds. I've timed.
