Good stuff man, best part was atomic whirl, great crowd reaction.

I have to say I expected that whirlygig finish though, especially when you got that shit on "lock".

i assume you really want a critique on your routine...
first off:
props on going dropless of course, technically amazing as expected, at worlds a routine like this will most definitely get you into the top5 or even on the podium.

i did think though that the artistic part wasn't all that convincing. of course you played well on the music, but i don't think that the song really is good for a routine. with the technical skills you have you could easily prepare a routine that really is completely choreographed. so i think it would really be worth thinking about picking a non-pop-music song, something that really has many different breaks or builds up really well. also i think you could try to get across even more that you are playing for the audience, not for yourself. also a single thing that i think helps is doing single "little" tricks with the music (eg. symp whirl, flapper kick, "dislocated knee", flyers ...swirls)
this said i was comparing you to the best routine players in the world... and what i feel would be needed to be beat them. i don't know exactly where but maybe look around for one of stefan siegerts routines. he often is amazingly good at being creative with the music. he really keeps his technical difficulty low, i am solely talking about the artistic part.

haha. i wish i could play a routine like you did. props,
max

I realized tonight there are a lot of things I had that I no longer do. Some are material, most are not. I jotted some down.

I miss...

my first abshire bag that I lost and never found.
the friendship me and ashley had.
waiting at the bus stop.
early dismissals.
snow days.
not knowing how to stitch.
dropping atw.
going to new jersey every last sunday of the month.
josh and chris.
watching sunil, flash, and peter in a conference room in maryland when i couldnt do 80% of their tricks.
competiting intermediate.
my cat.
having footbag idols.
vhs footbag videos.
the old flipsider shirts.
carol bags.
the feeling in my stomach when I pulled up to my first tournament.
meeting vasek for the first time.
not knowing anyone at a jam.
playing alone every day.

lesson: things you don't like now (like not being good at freestyle) you will wish you cherished later.

night.

Although you couldnt do 80% of their tricks they cant hit 80% of the tricks that are possible, you still suck at footbag. At least you will always have that.

Miami Blog Part 2

The first part of this blog can be seen one page back.

So this blog takes off where the last one left off, which is Monday morning. I slept on alex’s roommate bed and it was alright, but kinda grimey. He had this picture of a girl above his bed and I kept looking at her. She was hot. Eeek.

So we woke up kinda late and alex busts out this gross cereal called Weatabix, its supposed to be the best cereal for you in the world or something. It tasted like wood chips. It was terrible. I took down a bowl though because I needed energy for the day. It was really bad. Alex is really into healthy shit and I want to eat well too but not if it means eating what beavers make dams out of.

So we got dressed and walked to the car and drove down to Miami. The walk to the car sucks. He parks at his sisters house so its called the walk of shame because its like 15 minutes long and I didnt feel like doing it. we finally got there and then drove to miami. The road going there wasn't bad view wise. I liked the scenery, but I could tell that there are some areas that aren’t ritzy at all. Alex said most people in Miami are actually pretty poor, and the social elite are not the people that occupy most of the city like I thought. Most of the skyline is under construction. The water was super blue.

We headed down to this street called Lincoln rd, but first threw on some suntan lotion.

lathered up and looking like old men

We walked up the street which is lined by shops and saw Ashley, dan, and sam kicking. I had not seen Ashley in a year and one month. It was pretty epic to see her again and it was nice to see sam too. If you read this blog you might remember sam telling me he hated me and stuff but he got over that. I am just too lovable.

there they are!

We moved down the sidewalk and threw down our gear. I changed into my shred stuff and the session began. I don’t think I played amazing that day but I managed some stuff. Ashley was having some trouble but I could tell she had gotten better since css. Sam was doing his normal unique flowy stuff and alex was playing well too. Dan played alright, but I saw him play way better later in the week. We filmed, chilled, and then headed over to this restaurant for lunch. I got a smoothie and a chicken wrap, but it didn’t rival the ones from home.

We went to the beach which was the shit. I love the beach. It was so nice to sit on it and chill and watch everyone running around. We played footbag on the beach which is really hard. I couldve died. I later got thrown into the ocean. I was walking towards it and sam came up behind me and jumped on me. I hate salt water. It's so disgusting. But I got over it and me and sam rode some waves up and down. It was really fun . Alex and Ashley came in and dan stayed on the beach because he was trying to be a little girl. He suceeded.

We went back to Dan’s house and set up 4 square and played a few rounds. I still hate four square, but I played. It was alright. Sometimes it is fun. I don’t know who won, but we all had a lot of points. I think I have potential if I wanted to dedicate my life to it. Maybe when I get older and work at google and have a hacky website.

Sometime after that we went to this park at like midnight and played footbag. It was really cool. We were with matt isanuk who is this guy from NYC who was on spring break. I shouldve frikken taken his picture. He's cute, take my word for it. LOL if someone didnt know me theyd think i was gay. maybe if they did know me theyd still think i was. shit.

anyway i frikken killed that session.

We peaced out of there a while later and headed back to alex’s. My memory escapes me as to what we ate for dinner, but I know Ashley watched me stitch and we all showered and got into bed at around 3. They slept on the floor which was a bummer but there weren’t any other beds.

The next day we woke up and I worked on the bag more and ate my cereal. Sam was feeling pretty sick and overtook alex’s bed. We finally got moving and went to play 4 square. We ended up playing outside this architecture building under an overhang which the bag got stuck on. It took like a half hour to get it down.

We were all 4s’ed out and went to a restaurant where the stupid lady wouldn’t give me anything off the kids menu. I hate people like that. She was so anal. Like wtf, just tell the guy im 12. I don’t understand how that works. I ended up getting adult sized chicken fingers which were more like chicken hands they were so big. Geeze.

Ashley and Sam gathered up their stuff and we headed downstairs. Got some ice cream and then they both left. It was really nice to see them again and I’m glad me and Sam are civil.

So that was Tuesday afternoon and now I’m having trouble remembering what we did. Shit. I’ll think about it. Look at this:

Ahhh Miami, the land of expensive cars and big rims. I remember one night walking down a city block and seeing one ferrari, three porsche, and a bently (there was a lambo on the other side of the street).

Nice writeups man. Glad you had such a good time! Superb pictures too.

I'll be in Florida not this weekend but next actually. Unfortunately I'll be in Bonita Springs far from anyone who plays. :?

That cereal looks interesting... where can you get it?

Great write-up. There's definitely a lot of cherishing moments I feel from reading all of this.

I don't know anything about Miami or Florida, so you'll have to school me on the geography of the state when we meet again some day (oh and footbag too!). :P

Peace.

Quite early, considering I woke up at 2:30 yesterday afternoon.

This weekend was good. I played footbag outside yesterday. It was a lot of fun playing on the concrete right by my dorm. Good times.

I got an inspiring pm this morning. I think it will help me in whatever I choose to do.

I have one more class and then the rest of the day is mine. I hope its warm enough to play more hack outside.

I'm antsy to post new footage.

I cut my finger on my razor. shit.

english 101 time.

Well we all know how to solve that!

Don't go posting shit footage though like you usually do.  Hehe. Try to throw in some of the drills from your challenges page if you can.

I got some Weetabix at the store tonight.

They actually aren't half bed man! Hell it says you can even toast them! Though they are fairly flaky.
But if you don't like the taste you can just pour in some sugar and stir it up and it tastes even better! :P

**EDIT: Nicelittle run you had. I liked how smooth that Walk-over was.

Played ultimate frisbee today with 2 of my friends and like 12 kids we met on the lawn of the student union building. Way more fun than hack.

Tons of school work to do. One big test tommorow night.

If you're finding ultimate way more fun than hack, then its time to learn some new hack tricks. Say for example, sunback, toe jam, flying mousetrap, roll spike . . .

Seriously though, I'm partnerless for worlds . . .

I just played footbag and it wasn't fun. I was playing bad and I was pissed that I had to play in Units because my lavers are basically scraps right now. I wasn't hitting anything and I just sucked. I'm sore as shit from yesterday so that didn't help.

I get so tired of feeling like I have to play well every session. I hate when I can't do drills I hit in a few tries the day before. It bums me out to watch old footage and feel like I can't do most of it anymore.

I know some kid is going to respond and give me a "footbag is about fun, just spin and duck!" statement, but that's really not what I need. I don't know what I need really. I mean, I talk like this and then a few days later I'm back in it all gung ho, but it's a really stupid cycle that I'm in.

Sometimes I feel like I'm playing just so I can have a good showing at worlds. Right now I don't feel like putting 100 hours into a routine though.

I'm bogged down with tests and papers right now too. I couldn't shred with a 5 page essay and a 25%-of-my-grade-test hanging above my head.

meh.
