badass graph

Post by Chema »

I'm taking pre-calculus in high school, and we're currently studying Polar Planes. Our most recent assignment was to create our own cool graph, so this is what I figured out:

I think many of you will appreciate the magnitude of this awesomeness.
there's probably lots of ways to do it, but this is just how I did it.

(I did it on a "TI-84")

First go to "mode," the fourth row in this screen should read:
"func par pol seq," set it to pol (for polar plane), and make sure the calculator is in radian mode.

hit "2nd" "Zoom" and set the "axes" off.

Then, set your "window" to:
(theta)min=0
(theta)max=2Ï€
(theta)step=Ï€/24
Xmin=-3
Xmax=3
Xscl=1
Ymin=-1
Ymax=3.5
Yscl=1

Then, in your "y=" screen set:
r=.87sin(theta)+cos(6(theta))–.44sin(theta)ˆ420

to get (theta) press the "X,T,(theta),n" key
ˆ means to the power of ___

Now hit graph..

I got a 0% on the assignment, even though I called it "hemp leaf" instead of "marijuana leaf." I don't get it, hemp is legal.

oh yeah, dude, I don't know where your pants are, I thought you already got them...

I showed my Alg and Chem teachers that today...They got a good kick out of it, heh. How long did that take ya' man? And a 0% for that? come on, that's hilarious, should've gotten a 90 at least :p
