Should I go to Worlds?? UPDATE w/ QUESTION

Well, I first picked up a footbag a little over a year ago, and got really into it. was stitching bags, etc. However, since about october of 06 I have slowed down A LOT. Became really busy, etc etc. I can still bust out nice infinitys, osis, and spare other tier 2 tricks, but am wondering what would be my best bet? There are a lot of footbaggers who have either been awesome support wise for me on my footblog or who I have done business with that I would really like to meet / shred with. I am also getting back into it now that the snows melting. Thoughts??

Update: Okay guys, your responses have been awesome and exactly what the doctor ordered. Now my final question is...WHO CAN I ROOM WITH??? I need to stay with some people to cut dwn on cost t make this happen, But don't know anyone right now. Let me know how to figure this out!

Everyone should go if it's possible.

Probably going to be the biggest footbag event yet.

doubtful. no euro players have really signed on yet. i would think prague worlds would be the biggest event yet.

Not very many north american players went to the european worlds, though (correct?).

EDIT: But you should go either way.

you should absolutely go. if you're getting back into footbag, and you want to become inspired, worlds is the place to go. You'll make a lot of friends and advance your game in a big way. It's gonna be a blast.

You should kick with a local shredder in your area to get back in the string of things and then once groovin go to worlds

Sorry, I don't think that is correct. It has been a while, but, if I recall correctly, at Worlds '03 in Prague players from the United States made up the single biggest group based on nationality, and Canadians were also a very strong showing, being one of the largest groups represented. I don't recall so well anymore, but, like David was saying, there were alot of people from alot of countries. There were alot of Finns. There were alot of Danes. There were alot of Germans. There were Estonians and Slovenians and Russians and French and Swiss and Austrians, and all that doesn't quite cover it. It wasn't exactly everybody, but it was about as close as I've seen to it. There were even Aussies and Japanese. Yeah, Prague was pretty epic. Plus, they had beer on sight that was cheap and plentiful and way beyond good. Do you think they're gonna let us have beer for sale in Disney? If they do, it will be expensive, bland, and there will be restrictions up the wazoo on who can buy and where they're allowed to drink it. I'm sorry to say it, but as far as personal liberties go, everywhere I've been in Europe seems to have more of it than we do here in the USA. Our country has become uptight and litigious, and everything is against the rules. Sorry for the rant.

So if I understand you correctly Jon, basically what you're saying is that Worlds will be amazing because footbag players and events are amazing, and that he should go if he can?

if you think its not worth it, then dont go.
if you want to go, then go.

dont let your level of play effect your decision. let your passion for the sport effect your decision. dont let hype effect your decision either.

otherwise, you could save your money up for the next footbag event that you think youd enjoy more.

Not true. Helsinki '05 had a lot more players than Prague and I'm guessing so did Ffurt '06.

At least 10 Finns are going to Disney Worlds.

If you have the means, go. No question. I mean, it's the WORLD FOOTBAG CHAMPIONSHIPS! You will be inspired for sure, and will want to get into footbag even more.

I've been to 2 footbag competitions and spent a bunch of money on them, but I don't regret any of it. I would've paid more if that's what it took.

Ya, I'd say go. My fiance and I are currently trying to figure out a way to get there. Money is short and we're getting married a few months before. If we can save up, we'll be there.

my second year in footbag I went to Worlds, and I was on a very tight budget. Thats when i feel in love with footbag as a sport. I thought the local tournaments were great, But being at worlds and seeing all the people there, WOW! The worst kicker there was GREAT!!! If ya got the money go It might turn out to be the closest worlds in the next ten years. I don't no who said it but this sountry is heading way down. Europe has many more freedoms than the USA We should be back there soon or who knows Australia or Japan. Any way my first worlds was 1992, Than I went 4 years in arow and than from 2000 to 2006 and I am going this year. Hey I suck ask Matt Cross but I play my best For me and not anyone else.
