Bad luck man. Maybe take a week off or however long you want, get your shit together, think about it a bit, and play after that. You might feel better then, might not. Worth a try though in my book.

hey dave,
don't be too hard with yourself. You don't have to show us how good you are, you don't have to verify that you can schred hard. Be proud of yourself, you know that you're good. If you're not motivated a day to schred, do something else...nobody obligates you to play footbag every day...
greetings

dont make yourself play footbag. thats what you need. play when you want to, and drill when your having a good session. otherwise, id just keep it simple like guiltless (i guess guiltless is simple for you?)
when i dont play well, i make it a short sesh. when i do play well, i go until i cant anymore. thats usually 2 hours, but i need to push it.
find other pursuits, and finish your homework before you have fun. youre not going to get thru college if all your working for is a worlds champion title. maybe pick up your yoyo, and dont worry about stitching so much.
i know, were very similar. i was gung ho about footbag, but then i lost the interest to pump out bags. then my bags got better. i stopped trying to push my limit, and just played for me. my game improved. if youre not happy about where youre at in life, your game will suffer.
so step back, and worry about your real prioritites, and less about dominating everyone at some hackysack tournament, which you will anyways.
and hit blurry torque b2b for me.

Spoiler: there is ony one piece of advice in here worth reading, the first paragraph. Don't read the next two . . .
Maybe you should read the Inner Game of Tennis. It is about maximizing your body's(Self 2's) potential abilities by taking Self 1 (your bitchy mind) out of the picture.
Just imagine if you weren't such a whiny little punk-ass-I'm-never-playing-good-enough-wanky-bitch* (who was never happy with the 7-7-7s he can hit or the 20 fearless), you'd be waaaaaay better than you are right now.
(told you
)
Its time stop stop getting down on yourself already b/c I'm getting bored of reading about your comstant self complaints. That's not why i read this blog.

I go through the whole footbag happiness > footbag depression thing too. Such is the life of a footbagger.
When I'm down, I always try to remember what a wise man once told me.
"Don't worry, it's just gas, it'll pass."

So this weekend was one of the best I’ve had in a while, and that’s funny because for once it really didn’t involve footbag (in the playing sense).
On Friday Ian Brill from Pittsburgh rolled up to do his electronic music demonstration on Saturday night. We met up late, went to an art show, and then chilled at this Brazilian-hosted party for a little. Ate some hot dogs, slab of meat, watched the fire. Very nice. I like hanging out with footbaggers in a non-footbag scene. We talked about hack, but mainly about music and where we are going with our lives and stuff. It was just so great to chill and relax. I had so much more fun chilling with Ian than I normally do standing at stupid parties just watching the scene before me.
The next day I woke up early at 11 and myself and 6 friends went camping. Now David Clavens is not a camper. I went to sleepaway camp when I was 9 and we ruffed it a little bit but I am not exactly Mr. Wood (cept in the bedroom). Anyway, my friends and I were set to go camping about 20 minutes away. Let me give you some background. I live in state college, pa, and my school is surrounded by corn fields, cows, and grass. And forest. It is not very urban except for where my school is, which really is just a small city to begin with. Bethlehem (my home town) is much more developed it seems, at least the outskirts, because there are 2 other cities very close by. So where I reside during the school year is a bit more countrysideish. Thus, the camping.
We got a late start around one and as we drove off I was pretty excited, but nervous. I hadn’t really packed much and was worried about my lack of camping experience. You can guess I am still alive though because I am writing this after all.
So we drive for 20 minutes and we pull into this weird farm thing. My buddy Merrick (the leader of this excursion) gets out and we follow him and he approaches this guy who is working on the yard or something. Turns out this guy owns the massive piece of land from where we stood all the way back to this big range of mountains past the eye could see. The deal was for $5 you could camp wherever you wanted, deep in the woods. Sounded neat. We paid up and were ready. We had two cars on us because we had 7 people. Merrick said there was a little bit of a car path we could ride up to get deeper in the woods so we took his truck there with me, the 2 girls, and my friend derrick in the back. 20 feet up the trail we hit this huge creek and water is everywhere, it was great. It was like a Disney ride without a safety belt.
We rode 5 minutes up into the mountains past trees that got thicker and thicker. The road ended and we parked. We then hiked up through the thickest shit on earth for about 10 minutes, but it was so uphill it was terrible. I guess this is the time where I tell you I was wearing my climacools, which I use for running and such. I didn’t want to wear my snow boots out to hike; I didn’t want to use my lavers, quantums, skating shoes, or really anything else. So I used the climas, which actually gripped the rocky hillside pretty well. They aren’t modded or anything, so they still are decent shoes. Anyway, they would later kill me, but for now, go climas.
We walked up until Merrick stopped and decided his camping instinct was spot on. It didn’t look like much of a camping spot. Trees scattered all over. The only good attribute was that the land was fairly flat, if there weren’t trees all over it.
2 hours and one sharp hatchet later we had a 15x20 area cut out with all the leaves pushed out, a rock circle for a camp fire, a tent set up, and a ghetto kind of tarp tent that we made by hanging one from 4 tries. (For non-English readers tarp might sound like a fish, or bird of prey. Ah, I caught me a tarp! Actually, it’s a big plastic sheet people used for camping or wrapping up dead bodies. Bien!)
So we had our shit set up and everything was peachy. We sat down admiring our work. We sat and talked and I stitched a few pents (duh, I brought my stitching shit). It was quite relaxing. We all just laid there and enjoyed nature. It really was nice being up in the woods far from the bustle of school. Merrick and his girlfriend went off with a bow and arrow and me and my bud Tyler ended up watching the view from this spot we found that wasn’t blocked by trees. He lived in the Rocky Mountains for a week, basically hunting for food and such. He knew a lot about forestation and how if you get the trees cut that’s what makes a forest thick, cuz the baby trees can come up and fight for space. True, undisrupted forests aren’t really that crowded because only a few trees per area can live, making a nicer less dense type of place. Interesting.
The sun slowly set as we started the fire and sat around it. We sharpened up some sticks and made hot dogs. Derek said he couldn’t be happier and for a few hours I really did feel that way. It was just so much better than the hectic world I normally feel like I’m in. Getting away from the clutter is just nice once in a while. I liked thinking I was sitting where maybe an Indian had ran hundreds of years ago. The stones from our fire might have been used for someone else’s centuries ago. It is a good experience to have and I feel bad for people who never camp and who just live in the concrete jungle for all their lives.
The rest of the night was filled with scavenger hunts for firewood, playing cards, talking, and eating cereal. I killed like a box man, it was epic. By 10 we were all drained and I wrapped myself up in a sleeping bag I borrowed from Merrick. I couldn’t really sleep though. The ground was cold and stiff and I kept tossing and turning. It was in a way nice though. The moon lighted our campsite with a weird glow, making every tree look like someone creeping up on me and my friends. I stood up in my sleeping bag for a long time while they all slept, just admiring everything, listening to the wind. I watched the fire slowly die at, the last embers leaping into the air as if their last seconds were their most valiant. It was something that made you smile but that warmth that would arise inside was quickly snuffed by the wind that whipped at any exposed flesh. I threw on another sweatshirt, making my layer count to a respectable four. Around 12 I think I finally fell asleep.
I woke up to the light cracking through my open sleeping bag, my friends bustling around. Half of the group was in a 5k this morning and had to get back. I joined these early departers because I just wanted to sleep in my own frikken bed, and I had plans for a shred with Ian (he was still in town). We packed up our stuff, picked up all the trash, and went down the mountain we had climbed up.
Here’s the worst part. Merrick was still sleeping and was going to stay till around noon up at the campsite. So the drive we did in his truck we had to do in our shoes. What shoes am I wearing? Climacools. Did it rain last night? Yes. Was it raining right as we walked down the hill? Yes.
My feet gushed through inches of mud as we walked back to the second car. It was probably about a half mile of soaked earth and puddles. The bottom of the climacool is not really all sole. It has these openings for me guess, foot breathing or some bullshit. So all this water came up through my soles and just soaked my feet. It was the worst walk ever. I made the walk of shame better by screaming “quit yer bitchinâ€
