I've never been to Boston. But it does sound like me. Were they possibly wearing blue/white lavers? Does the name CJ ring a bell? If so it seems he's made some freakin progress. I will now take partial responsibility for that progress.
So how's this for a short story: I was practicing in Grant Park across the street from the office building where I work. I've decided to push myself harder during practice - 20 attempts of all my 2-dex moves & selected other 3-adds I've hit or am working on, unless it takes more than 20 attempts to land it, plus 10 attempts of all 2-adds, both sides, except for minimum 50 attempts of weak side clipper.
So after a little more than an hour, I was out of water & thirsty. But still needed to practice pixie pickup, double-over down, weakside terrage, paradox mirage & ducking clippers. So I went back across the street for a smoothie. About 5-10 minutes later I came back to Grant Park.
And I heard, very faintly, what sounded like somebody calling for help. Then it stopped, and I wasn't sure what I had heard. Then I heard it again: "Help me somebody help me". So I grabbed my shit and headed in the direction of the voice.
I went up a flight of stairs, and turned left, and this young woman was waving her arms at me, and there was somebody lying on the ground. So I ran over. There was an electric wheelchair in the bushes, and this young man (who I couldn't tell if he was a man or a woman because of his soft voice) who had been in the wheelchair was lying face down on the ground with his pants around his ankles. The young woman had just got there & didn't have a cell phone.
I called 911. I asked for an ambulance, & I told them that this person said they were assaulted, and their pants were around their ankles, so I thought it might have been a sexual assault. They sent an ambulance & the police. The victim wanted to talk to his mother, so I got her phone number & dialed & handed him the phone. Then I waited for the police.
So once the police & paramedics got there, I grabbed my phone, and the guy's mom was on the line & wanted to know what was happening. I didn't know, and the paramedics & police couldn't tell me. So I had to hang up on her, because I needed my damn phone back. I feel terrible about that.
And then I was questioned by the police, they took down my info, etc. Took about 40 minutes. One of the cops was a bumbling fucking idiot. A police captain also came to the scene, and they taped it off. About five cop cars were there, plus a cop on a segue. Anyway, I didn't see who did it or anything, but I had been in the park all afternoon. I wish I had seen something or could have been more helpful... or hadn't gone to get the damned smoothy.
The young woman was visiting from Germany, said she was leaving the next day, so they didn't want a statement from her. They wouldn't have been able to follow up on it. But she was freaked out, so I walked her to the hostel and headed home. Oh, and the victim stopped us from leaving and thanked us, which was pretty gracious considering what he'd just been through. I mean, even if it wasn't a sexual assault, can you imagine being a disabled person, getting beat up and robbed and left helpless like that? Fuck...
Well, that's my story.
