Just sew it up with floss. Or, if you're opportunistic, take the mesh off completely and replace it with a thick facile. Back it with a good strong glue and sew it on. Since you colored the white mesh pink, Rose Quartz and Rapture Rose come to mind as a good replacement imo.
Ben Rawsko completely removed all of the material on the toe and inside of his pair of the new Rod Laver model (the ones with some weird nylon outer, foam layer, and thin fabric backing). He had the black model with the white trim. He replaced the surfaces with Black Noir, and I thought those were the phattest shoes ever.
