These Lavers are local and I'm trying to establish if they'd be alright for a beginner looking to up his game from his current shoe(my current shoe isn't half bad though). What can you tell me about these? Good, bad? Same as mesh or what?

Those are 'good' in the sense that they are lavers. Bad however, because they are leather. Leather lavers are very bouncy unless you take the top leather layer off, not really good for anything with it on.
Besides that, you can find them much cheaper elsewhere. Such as here
Though if you're interested in paying more, and modding out the leather ones, go for it but...60$? You can find them much cheaper, especially at the aforementioned link.

As the universe is curved, there cannot be a straight answer...

Ya, Mesh are generally considered to be better, but leather's good too from what I've heard. Nate Pipenberg plays in leather lavers, and he's super good. There's other players that shred leather lavers too, but I can't think of their names... anyway, they're not the ideal begginner shoe, but they're not from from it either.
edit:
Just saw this new vid. It should help to emphasize my point.

I think he's since switched to mesh lavers.
