I won't be around tomorrow either, sorry. Easter begins early when you have to travel home!

I played a bit in my living room today... wasn't bad, but nothing special.

Come one come all on Tues!

Hey we should go to Brantford sometime to shred with Johnny.
Guelph was a fun trip, and Johnny always has to come out here...

DARN!

Mike, so sorry. I just checked my hours for work this week and I work Tuesday morning. I've been so unreliable lately. Can we push the meeting til Wednesday? I don't think anyone was planning on coming yet anyway.

I swear that Restoration Hardware hates footbag.

Let me know. Hopefully see you on Wednesday!

I'm not gonna play tomorrow.
I know Mike will probably be in Hamilton.
And I haven't heard if anyone else wants to play?
It's 5 AM and I won't be awake enough to play, as much as I was looking forward to it. Plus I'm doing a turkey tomorrow so that was going to complicate things anyway.

...just so nobody shows up and waits for me or something...
I usually post-confirm before FAT shred.

I know this is pretty late notice, but I'll be down for a shred session at York U Tuesday morning 10am ish. I have a broken toe in my left foot so I won't be shredding for too long or too hard but still if anyone is down Ill be there.

I always check this blog hoping to read some new insight on the Toronto shred scene but it's always just:

"we're shredding this sunday, anyone want to come?"
"I'm in"
"I can't come"
"that shred was fun, shred tuesday?"
"see you there"

Tell me fun stories dammit!

Oh yeah, and Peng and I realised something yesterday, we are both moving to the Toronto area! Maybe we can become trainee FAT members. :P

See you jerks soon! :D

Sorry our blog doesn't entertain you Tom. :? :)

Anybody up for playing this Saturday instead of (or in addition to) Sunday? I have to work.

Hope to meet you soon, Toby!

Yes to Saturday. Its gonna be 14 and sunny!!!! :P

Fun stories is what you want eh?

So this last Wednesday I was invited to perform at the Mississauga Living Arts Center for a high-school anti-violence art show! The girl who picked me up to drive me out there is a master of spoken word freestyle, and the entire drive there was just spitting CRAZY rhymes and all the nuts philosophical dialog. I couldn't even believe it. She had been performing earlier in the day at some high school, and had made a really good connection with some of the kids and was just zoning like crazy.

Anyway, we got to the event, and were treated to a full buffet of fruit and sushi and awesome juices and such. I was expecting this event to be like most of our other shows, kinda laid-back and low budget, but the organizers had gone all out, and I soon found out why. The attendee's were high school principles and all the local education trustee's! Everyone was showing up in suits and dresses, while our little rag-tag group of performers were rocking t-shirts, and in my case ratty shoes and short-shorts.

So everyone comes in and sits down, and all these monumentally boring speakers come up and say their speeches, and then it was our time to shine. The freestyler started it off, followed by the beat boxer. The introduction to the break-dancing/footbag/pop n' lock section was the beat boxer laying down a beat and me shredding for as long as i could to the beat, which he could change at will to make it fit the tricks I was doing. I ended up laying down something like 50 tiltless with links like Pendulum>osis, Datw>Double Switch and tons of ducking>ducking.

After that we all started jamming and doing our thing, going in turns and busting hard. Crazy ass break-dancing to say the least! My runs went well, with a good ducking run and a run where I would toss it really high in the air after toe moves and catch it on my clippers. As my grand finale I did a walk n' shred run right down the center aisle, and when i got to the end did and osis, turned around, and came back the other way! People went nuts! :D

After we were finished a bunch of school administration type came up and asked if I could come perform at their schools, and I might be doing a performance for one of them on the 19th. Sweet night, not to mention the paycheck. Buh-ZAM!

So after 5 hours of sleep, I wake up, get ready, and after driving the lady to work, head down the better way, the red rocket, train after train (and then two more) to meet fellow FAThead Mike Faille for some early morning shred.
In order not to disturb my dog Clipper by coming home only to leave again ten minutes later, I arrived early and did a Jumble puzzle while listening to Leonard Cohen. The puzzle was sweet. The question was "What the professors turned the cruise into" and the answer was a "Scholar Ship." I smiled to myself, happy that I'm a linguistics major.

Mike soon rolled up with a big smile on his face. It had been weeks since I'd seen him. He had played last night with Erik (which I envy; I'm totally coming out to a late-night session soon) and so matched me in the droopy eye department.

We warmed up briefly with kicks and mirage / clipper drills. Then we began the footbag.

Mike, your style lately has gotten tighter and more controlled, and it was really showing, giving you nice straight sets and lots of time for stylish tiltless runs. I'm sorry that your ankle is still not 100%, but really do try and take the opportunity to make your flip Clipper eclipse (haha footbag word) your good side.

I dropped a lot at first, it seemed, though I guess it always does. When playing solo lately I've been trying to flesh out my guiltless runs, but today when I tried it, it just didn't feel like the order of the day. Maybe that sleep thing did it to me.

However, I have to say, overall I was really happy with my playing today. Nice links were flowing together like Osis > DLO, Spinning Clip > Whirl, Toe Drifter > Whirl > DLO, etc. all both sides. Tiltless links don't ever really feel hard as much like they used to, which is great but at the same time it's been harder and harder to make myself really proud. Oh well. I'll keep trying to do just that. Absence makes the heart grow stronger, not to mention the will.

The biggest two things happened for me were right at the end, which is another something that's been happening more often lately. These particular two were:

- 60 tiltless (with all the BOPs, and many genuine moves bs)
- The Clipper Drill 1 to 10 and back to 1/2 of 3's... =191 Clippers dropless

Huh. I also hit my flip Spinning Ducking Butterfly. Haven't hit goodside yet.

Go FAT. Hope this was an interesting shred wrapup. Hope to see you all soon. I think I may finally be around this Sunday!

Hey there dudes in Toronto and area. Guess who would be delighted to entertain you all this Saterday at a footbag assemblage. ME! JB! Well I'm heading up early Sat, so if you guys could do all your chatting and come to a conclusion on a time and place that would be splendiforous. Preferably at the Bahan Center because... well, I know where it is now. Great job on the breakdance show Adam, and Josh, sounds like someone has been practicing their hackey kick trick stalls and stuff. I'm eager to see both of you again, I've been dreaming about the night, I mean day, that we meet again 8O . Umm.... yah and I've put in some effort on my shredabilities as well lately. I hope you can make it out too Toby, get some work in on that new bag :D.

I like how there's so many progressing FAT members and you all have great communication skills, as your blog clearly shows. And I would like the KFM scene to flourish like the FAT one day, but seriously, Tom is rite, MORE STORIES. The two by Josh and Adam were wicked-cool.

Don't even know how I pumped out that post, soo tired :?
Hope to meet some new FATies, may be role up a fatty!
First think about how to practice or don't bother practicing.
