I was just watching some video by this Augustana dude. He was playing his piano in the ocean, and some waves knocked him off and stuff. It reminded me that I just had this dream with you in it. I guess I was swimming in the Pacific with you, and this HUGE wave built up behind us, and I freaked and curled up in a ball while you were like, "Lalala..." playing in it like it was nothing. It ended up passing over me and I was fine. Then you were telling me some kind of advice about it. That's all I remember.

It probably means I'm your anchor in stormy water. 
I'm really busy these days. To take a break from that, over the weekend Fletch and I visited Lon Smith and Joe Crain in Grass Valley CA for the first time. It was about a 4 hour drive each way and it took about a (12 gallon) tank of gas round trip which I think is pretty good. We got there Thursday night so we had three full days with no responsibilities before our drive back today. Yay. We hacked on Thursday night at a church across the street. Then we played some Wii which I hadn't done before. It was a great first experience because they have a ceiling projector and roll down huge screen. I mostly played the bowling game and got 188 my first game.
We did other stuff on other days, including going to the cliffs, the river and climbing around on huge river rocks, playing random hack, freestyle three days, and hanging out with them and their friends. It was a fun weekend and getaway.
I'm stealing this picture from Fletcher's blog. I had Lon and Joe's friend Mark take the picture.
This picture was taken on Sunday and it was the only time we played 4-Square on our trip. The really neat thing is that this, Hennessy School, is the school and exact court where Footbag 4-Square was created. Plus we played with two of the three people who created it. I'm totally stoked on that.
Mark (camera man) and Chappy were the other two players during our three games. It's fun that people I don't know as footbag players can walk into a 4-Square court and be just as good or better than a (net or freestyle) Footbag player. You could go several places with that thought but I don't want to. I want to go watch Smokin' Aces with Fletch and Jeremy.
Oh yeah, I think played footbag a few times since my last post and one night Fletch and I set up a 2-Square court in his room for a few good games. No memorable highlights.

Weekend post Part II:
We also got to play a little freestyle with Toby One Kenobi. I knew the name but didn't know where he lived or if he still played. It doesn't seem like he practices, but he can still string better than I would have expected. Fletch, Lon, Toby and I (then Joe for a bit too) played on astro turf before the three locals played a pick up game of soccer, which they all seem into right now. They're on an indoor soccer team. The surface was okay but the little fake dirt got in my shoes too much for comfort.

Friday night session at UCSC with Fletch and Dustin. It was too cold to kick outside (for me) so it was really lucky that we found an indoor kick spot. It was a great find; well lit, plenty of room, a bunch of comfy couches, plus it was attached to an office building not dorms so we didn't need to worry about sound.
Today (Sunday):
Fletch, Jeremy, Dustin and I tried to kick in the same spot but it was locked. We tried a few other places and found a spot in a cafeteria/auditorium. After we had been playing for a bit a piano player came to practice on the piano on the stage. I liked playing to her music. We were on the side of the stage on thin carpet. For those of you who didn't catch it, yes, Jeremy Mirken played freestyle.
He wasn't as rusty as I would have expected after not playing for something around a month and he hit some cool stuff.

Haha, so... I just now thought about it and realized that both legbeaters were on the same side. It wasn't planned out in my head before I tried it so after I hit the 2nd one in my head I was like, "both sides, sweet" which is why I was so stoked. Yeah... I hope I don't get voted the biggest airhead in the modified yearbook.

What did I do over the weekend? I went to the Pomona Toy and Hobby Show to demonstrate for Duncan for a 2nd year in a row. It was a good weekend, let me tell you about it. Just like a bad book, if you get bored just skip to the end.
Duncan agreed to pay for my flight, hotel, and a rental car in addition to paying me to demonstrate. Neato. I had never rented a car before.
Friday:
Fletcher Funk dropped me off at the San Jose airport in the early afternoon. I took a 50 minute flight to Ontario (CA) Airport in Southern California. I had a bag and a backpack --which means I packed lightly.
I arrived at the rental place to find that the car wasn’t pre-paid for and they wouldn’t accept the Duncan guy’s credit card over the phone. Often in the corporate world people who travel pay for their travel expenses and get reimbursed by the company after submitting a travel report. I’m guessing the person at their travel agency didn’t know that I was supposed to be any different because I had to pay for my car and hotel. I didn’t have a credit card on me so luckily I had my ATM card and enough money in my account. They had reserved a midsize car for me. With Alamo you take your receipt to the lot and there are several options to pick from within each size. I didn’t know which to pick, so I asked the guy working in the lot which one he thought I should take if I wanted something fun. He said to take the one with the spoiler and told me that it has satellite radio. It was a Silver 2007 Chevy Impala.
Yes, I rolled down the windows and bumped the music.
After I got to my nice hotel I drove about 15 minutes to go hang out with Mike Hansen. We ate dinner at an awesome Mexican place where they make fresh tortillas. Yum. Then we got good ice cream and watched Pan’s Labyrinth which was good but not what I was hoping for. I went back to the hotel and slept.
Saturday:
I woke up at 8am to get to the full complimentary breakfast in time, and drove about 20 minutes to the Fairplex where the toy show was being held. I parked in the $8 parking lot which ended up being the wrong one even though the security people said it would work. So I had to ask them for my money back and park on the other side at the $12 parking. I went inside and met up with the woman who I worked with last year, the sales rep for California. I found out what the new Duncan products were and some other basic information in case people asked, which they did. The neat thing I was excited to tell people about is that if they carry Duncan footbags or yo-yos and have a store event, Duncan will pay for someone to demonstrate at their store one time (if there’s someone in the store’s area). So every time someone made a “cuteâ€

I met these 4 people in Kaua`i, and they told me they were from Santa Cruz! I immediately repressed my desire to ask the question, "Do you know Emily and Jeremy?" But then I thought what the hell - maybe it's a small place - and asked about you guys and footbag. No Dice. Turns out the one couple moved from Santa Cruz to Hawai`i, and i thought how weird it was to move from one beautiful place to another.

One day there was a mom and her little daughter watching a movie and the girl saw people having sex in the theatre. The curious girl asked, "Mom, what are they doing?"
"Oh! Uh... they are... they're are baking!" Replied the surprised mother.
After watching the movie they went to the park. While walking through they saw people having sex behind the bushes. Again the girl asked, "Mom, what are they doing?"
"They're baking too, dear."
Later on at home the little girl rushes into the kitchen and says, "Mommy, I know you and daddy were baking in your room!"
"Uhhhh, how do you know that, dear?" the mother asked nervously.
"Because I licked the frosting off the bed!"

I didn't blog the awesome session at Steve's when Nate L. was in town. A bunch of people were there, maybe 10? incuding our very own Jeremy Mirken with his freestyle shoes on.
Thursday 3/5/07:
Today I kicked with Peter Irish in Maryland. I came to town to work for a week. I leave tomorrow on a 6am flight which means I get up at 4am East Coast time which is 1am my time. That's messed up. Tomorrow morning I fly into SFO airport and tomorrow early evening Fletch and I leave SJC airport for San Diego. I hope it's sunny and warm there; there were snow flurries here today. It felt weird since it was 80 degrees two days ago and there are still blossoming trees outside. We fly to San Diego tomorrow, Saturday is the session with some SoCal folks, then Sunday is the Duncan promotion for the San Diego Padres. Pretty fun.
I played terribly today, but I still had fun because I was kicking with Pete. I couldn't kick to save my life. Right inside kicks, why did you leave me today of all days? I had to take a short break during the session so Peter juggled in my down time. It was awesome, like my own private half time show.
