thanks henjy.

so i am really stoked on footbag right now. it was about 70 today and i played outside in front of my new digital camera with video capabilities. i finally actually like my style. i think on some tricks my style still looks too small, but it seems to improve as my legs grow.

i hit:
pixie duck drift. might be new but who cares.
a 178 shred 30. it was only like my 5th try so I am okay with that. i think by worlds i shouldn't be going below that by much. the shred i have planned scores 254 dropless, so i am really looking forward to putting in 30 minutes a day on this till worlds.

other than that, buy my amaretta bags. seriously. don't make me get a summer job.

I'd love to see a new Nathan video. As for your style improving as you grow, that doesn't surprise me. It happened with Vasek, and I correctly predicted it would happen with Takumi too. Hopefully I'll get to meet you at worlds.

thanks for the comments and thanks dave for the video!

heres a short story I wrote late last night. its not meant to be serious.

In front of Johnny stood a sharply dressed man. Behind him was a perfectly square building erected of red bricks. A single glass door broke the monotony. Inside all Johnny could see was blue.
The man held out a hand to shake.

I feel like doing some honest reviews of footbags, mostly just for me to look back on later. so here goes. i think i will do four twonight.

Abshire- I have two of his bags. one 2003 regular with 2004 filler and a 2005 mini.

reg- this bags rocks. its from the era of 6 month break ins and 35g filler. its shell is thin as paper and because of this stalls without a lot of weight. it has one hole in 2 years of serious use and 2 years of occasional use. its big but the perfect bag for a low key session. just writing this review makes me want to request another one like it from him.

the mini i was quite disappointed with. its stiff, and kinda sticks but doesn't really. i was prepared for a long break in, but it never turned into a good bag. it seems by early '05 his filler is way heavier and not as gushy.

Mark Telman- i have a purple/print bag from about a month ago. it was $12 so i bought it on a whim. it has no gather and it's at least 1/3 smaller than any other functioning bag i've seen. it doesn't break in since it has no gather, but it still doesn't stall, which is really weird since the filler feels really good when i'm kneading the bag. it sucks to play with though.

James Hermey- I've had a grand total of 5 of his bags, most through trades. two were very early models before he sold. they were nothing remarkable but neither were the bags i gave him.

the next two were somewhere around 3 months apart, one from a trade with henryg and one i bought. the two bags couldn't be more different, except that both had bad last panels. the bag from henryg was larger, gushier, softer and an overall good player. the one i bought is nothing but good to look at. I consider it a dud from a good stitcher.

I traded him again about two weeks ago. Mostly i did this to get a bag once again from a stitcher I used to talk to a lot, but i'm glad to say its a good bag. the filler feels too large for my liking, but the shell is soft, has good colors and is well made. I look forward to breaking it in once i change the filler.

Alexey Antipov (lesh)- Alexey was the first person to introduce me to amaretta, when he traded me an amaretta bag along with some material, for the same from me w/ ultrasuede. this bag is great! no break in, softest bag i've ever used, but that is changing as more people get amaretta. he used a strange mix of size 11 or so lead shot (awesome), seed beads (awesome) and big plastic beads (sucks). i took those out and its been great ever since. really no faults except maybe its a bit too big, and the filler could be denser- more lead less sead beads.

hope this helped some people maybe.

You write fairly good reviews.

Want to test one of my bags?

heres my post grass post. I'd do a long write up but I have more on my mind about footbag than just this tournament so I think I would start to ramble. so here are my thoughts:

- danny petrick is mucho improved since last year
- josh lewis surprised me with his game and is a really chill guy
- it was good seeing all the rochester/former rochester guys again. i think the rochester club is one of the clubs i know the best.
- penn state represented well. i realize that we really do have a strong crew, but i still wish i had some kids my age around to play with. we'd share the same schedule then too.
- circle competition is fun but i think judging it is too hard.
- juggling is really cool. this tournament renewed my interest in juggling but also made me grateful that the footbag scene is different than that of juggling.
- i hope GRASS got the word out about my footbags again. i think after 3 years of sewing i deserve more respect than i get- but maybe my bags aren't that good. either way i can't blame anyone but myself.
- lately i've been upset with my footbag game but i think this tournament was a turning point. I think I am good at the concepts I put in strings and it's time to learn new moves and put more 5's in my game. so i'm excited to keep playing.
- i liked meeting the montreal crew. everyone who came down was really cool.
- really stoked for worlds. i hope i am good at footbag by then.

Props on making circle finals at GRASS. Too bad I couldn't go there and meet you, but hopefully we can meet some time soon and shred. You've got mad potential.
