Closed for the season, see you next year.
Well after a very long footbag hiatus, it's finally time to get back into it, pain-free this time, and just as motivated!!! i'm busy with my final exams at the moment, but as of april 20th, it's full footbag steam ahead. I'm going to be working with a personal trainer in the next few months to help me get back into my old physical shape, but leaving my footbag progression up to me, sooooo....
i'm looking for some challenges to work towards. let's start off easy, like really easy, and progress it from there. At present i'd like to work on easy shuffle combos, i love repeats, and throw in some downtime components here and there to play out of, just to make it interesting.
here's the run down of what i can hit, and how well i feel i can do them...
(ranking system as follows, from solid to weak: Excellent, Great, Good, Mediocre, Poor, i can't do it if it's not listed (but i might have just forgotten so feel free to ask) but no surging or other such insanity thanks)
sets:
-stepping (excellent)
-stepping ducking (good)
-pixie (great)
-pixie ducking (poor)
-fairy (mediocre)
-atomic (good)
-quantum (poor)
-furious (poor)
-spinning/gyro (poor)
-ducking/diving (poor)
down time:
-mirage (excellent)
-legover (excellent)
-pickup (great)
-illusion (great)
-butter (excellent)
-drifter (great, pdx good)
-whirl (great, pdx good)
-osis (great)
-dlo (good, pdx mediocre)
-egg (mediocre, pdx poor flip)
-blender (good, poor flip)
-dyno (good)
-paradon/ barfly (strong good, flip poor)
-dso/ reaper (great/ mediocre)
-torque (good, poor flip)
-swirls (poor)
-symple swirls (good)
-butter swirls (good)
-whirling swirl (good, poor flip)
-datw (good, mediocre flip)
-barage (poor)
so, i'd really love some longish (10-15 contacts) of shuffle heavy challenges with some downtime stuff inbetween. feel free to toss in a 5 here or there.
here are my favorite hard 4's, 5's and 6's:
-ripped warrior
-spiked hammer
-fog
-blurry whirl
-blurry drifter
-flurry
-haze
-bedwetter
-ps whirl
-pdx blender
-blurry torque
-food

haha forget that last one, just poking fun at peopel who post 45+ long tripless combos as challenges.
Anyway you've probably hit these before but yeah:
pixie muted same (foot) clipper > pdx egg [rpt]
spinning blender > food BS
ripped > flurry > atomic op osis
pdx blender > gyro dlo
if those are too easy I'll find some harder ones

no, max, those will be plenty hard. i think i've only ever hit spinning blender once or twice flipside, so stepping out will be quite a challenge. i can't zoom so the last one will give me trouble. i think i should get the ripped>flurry> crispy flux first or second try, and i've hit the first challenge before, but i'll hit it again.max wrote:if those are too easy I'll find some harder ones
thanks for the challenges folks.
thanks henry, that's perfect!!!

That pdx blender > gyro DLO sounds like a swet combo.
Stepping same pickup > fairy same whirl > pogo far clipper > backside blur > atomic clipper > sidewalk > stepping same pickup > fairy same whirl > tombstone > stepping mirage > tapping clipper
(or slapping clipper is you want -- that would be cooler, but I put in some kind of tough links as it is...with no break...)
(I tried so hard to be creative!)
I'm trying to integrate stepping same pickup -- what a cool, obscure trick!

i'm not ragging on ya, just gonna have to give me some time on that challenge.Isilwar wrote:Sorry I try to be helpful.

yes, my legs are big and strong, but my muscle endurance isn't what it used to be. also lacking the power i used to have. I'll be working with my Advanced Resistance Training professor at her gym. She specializes in working with high performance athletes and took a bit of an interest in footbag (in a conditioning sense, she's not interested in the playing, just in the moving) because of what it demands from the body. i designed the program my self in class as my final assignment (got a 98 on it) and she's going to fine tune it a bit and bring in her knowlege. Mostly she will be supervising, monitoring my progress, heloing to keep me motivated, etc, etc. alot of what i'll be doing is working my anaerobic lactic system, trying to get me back into shred shape and getting prepped for worlds. also going to be working on pylometrics, core stability, and other proprioception stuff. i'm really looking forward to it.Michu wrote:hey andrew,
what did you meant with your personal trainer? Are you going to a fitness center because you have huge legs, I don't think you got them from footbag. Nice drills!!
schred hard

henry, i refuse your challenge because i hate dada's and i don't care to work on them. i'll do it with a drifter if you want.
