I'm flying out tomorrow evening, arriving in Madrid on Friday morning. Getty pretty psyched!
But I'm a little worried about the weather...

I was planning on just meeting up with everybody at the first location, Plaza de Oriente...

But if it is raining...

Is there another place to meet instead?

fucked rain

It is going to rain the whole weekend, so we will not be able to do the spainjam in the street.

We will meet in the social center "La Alarma" that is in the street " sebastian Herrera 13 " at the "Embajadores"' metro station. We will be there on Friday from 5 p.m., and on Saturday and Sunday from 12 a.m.

On Friday morning we will be in "La Prospe", that Luis Cabrera Nº 19 is in the street at the metro station of "cartagena"

SPAIN JAM!!! DAMN!!!

WOW.

I´m a little bit at a loss for what to say. This event has been AWESOME! They really know how to have fun over here. My head is still spinning. And this city is incredible. Everybody should come to SpainJam next year!

So, the Madrillenos have got it all going on. They´ve got a pretty big club with all kinds of talent ~~ younger guys, older guys, shreditas, technical players, guys with unique styles... everybody is laying it down! And there are more Spaniards from Barcelona too, like Mario 2 (Mario 1, Mario Borras, is from here, Madrid, and has been an excellent host to myself and Matthias, Toby, Andy, Frank, and Adrian, and shreds hard too, with kick-ass pixie and fairy combos and many other skills too) and Joel Roset. Joel is the guy you may have already seen videos of busting Triple Around the Worlds. He´s got some other bad-ass skills to compliment that crazy triple dex of his, like a very nice symposium double-down, and he busts combos like Enterrage to Dolomite like cake. Its pretty killer.

In addition to the locals, there´s been solid representation from Germany, France, Austria, and Switzerland, in the form of Matthias and Tobias, Frank Remy, Martin, and Andy Peier respectively (there may have been some others, but I can´t remember right now, all-together its been a bigger event than I had imagined, and way cooler - its almost disappointing, as I was hoping for a really laid-back jam, and instead its been all crazy and shit - shredding, partying, more partying...)

Oh, yeah... lucky for me Adrian Dukes of the Maryland/Washington DC area shred scene is here in Spain studying Spanish very near-by to Madrid, and its been nice to see a familiar face, especially one who can help me with the local language... she´s playing pretty well too, and having a real good time as an ex-pat. And together we´re gonna bring some of the better local customs back home to the US with us...

The local kickers, Sergio, Mario, Paloma, Arturo, Michael (sp?), Aaron, Rafael, (there´s more, but I can´t remember everybody right now, sorry) -- not only are they strong shredders (double dexes, triple dexes, pixies, fairies, spins, ducks, dives, whirls and paradox whirls, ... you know, all the skills... ) but they´ve also got some crazy hook-ups for the good times. We were figuring on playing out-doors in some beautiful public parks, but the whether hasn´t been too kind to us. So our hosts here had us shred in some very cool underground clubs... squatter community centers that are also climbing gyms, and squatter bars/basement concert-halls that also lend them all the space they need to shred and even to host a killer lunch for all attendees. Spanish Omlettes and jamon y quesa y vino... Best lunch I´ve ever had at a footbag jam. Plus, they printed up event t-shirts for everybody ~~ and this was all a free event, no player´s fee at all... THATS F---ING COOL!
We´re all going to be lucky to have some of them at Worlds this summer.

And the city of Madrid... I can hardly begin to tell you all about that. You´ve just got to see it. This place rules. I´m all psyched to come back next year, maybe catch a ride over to Barcelona after the jam...

Okay, so I´ve said my piece about SpainJam 4. Thanks to everybody for hooking it up and showing us all a good time, and for helping this helpless Gringo to get around town. Now I´ve got to go see about rejoining the party two floors below and outside... Its nuts and I think I´m gonna get to see a full-on drunken street riot... Yee-haw! I told you - these guys are serius about having fun, and they don´t stop till sunrise...

Hasta La Vista, Babies.

damn u jon! you really said it all! :D

I'm back at the office already (after last night's street riot and drinking and no-sleep) and it feels 200% weird sitting here now back in lazy Germany... (too bad we lost each other during the first wave of police panic!)

SpainJam was really BIG time! all nice people, all nice locations (the squat ruled!), all the way party!! thanks to everybody organizing it and especially to mario letting us squat on his place so long!!! thanks man!

I'm a bit dizzy in my head, gotta chill a bit now. I'll write again when I uploaded some fotos later this week!

so thanks again and hope to see you in austria or also in bavaria!

cheers,
TOBY.

John and Tobias, thanks for your posts... I hope see both of you in next Spainjam, as I hope to see all forgein players whom had come, Matthias, Frank, Andre, Martin and Adrian... THANKS FOR COMING.. I've learned so much playing with all of you, as I said, it was an honour for me.

To everyone else who couldn't come, I hope that next year we can double the number of shredders, so it's in your hand to come here next year...

For the spanish shredders, well... As always guys, we must keep kickin for the rising up of our sport in Spain...

QUE PASA TIOS.. QUE LA HEMOS LIAO!!!!!! :D :D :D

Hey all!

I'm back in the office! Busy days. I took some video footage at spainjam, so I hope to edit it all together to a neat shortvideo. But for the moment I can offer some pictures as well! Not much, but browse through! :-)
