Okay......directions.

For TTC...Go to woodbine station. Take southbound bus, ride until you can see the beach(it will be obvious!!), we'll be around front of the big concrete pool structure.

For Car...Go to Woodbine and Queen. Find parking. Walk south on woodbine toward the lake. You will soon be able to see the beach, and we'll be in front of the big pool structure.

Ask back if you have any questions.

Yeah the olympic pools are just a huge building right at the foot of Woodbine, where the bus turns right onto Lakeshore, which is when you get off. It is surrounded by concrete, we play on the side facing the beach. Nice spot.

Andrew, you played with us there that time I was filming.

There is a parking lot or two just a bit further down on Lakeshore. It will surely be packed tomorrow though. Not sure the rates.

Well, I have a cell, and I've been to the beach before, but I'm not sure what specific spot they mean. If you Oshawa guys get lost you can call me, if nobody else has a phone. I don't know my way around Toronto TOO well, but maybe I would be able to help in a bind.

Go check out Google maps anyway to get an idea -- that's always my first move.

I filmed my "tour of Toronto" footbag video today with Mike. It was WIIIICKED. It was super, super fun and we got a lot of awesome shots at a lot of awesome locations with a lot of awesome weather and a lot of awesome shred. I was playing the most consistantly I've played in ages. It was like, every run was good. I can't wait to watch the footage and make the video -- won't be 'til I'm home though.

We did Kensington Market (and were filmed for some school film festival thing) at a bunch of spots and then we went down to the harbour front and did a bunch there and then around the CN Tower at a bunch of spots. Was that it, though? We were going to wait until tonight and go shoot at Dundas Square and Chinatown, but we gave up on that pretty quickly. I think it was good enough -- it should be a fun video. It was really fun filming.

Hey nobody's really posted about tomorrow still. I like the regular 3 time better than 2; when does everyone else plan to show up? Does anyone else have a cell?

I'm coming, but some people still need better directions, I think, and nobody agreed on a time. I vote for 3, but I'm not going to be awake until it's too late to know what everybody else says, 'cause it's 5 now and I'm about to go to bed after not getting enough sleep and spending the whole day playing footbag already...

Once its summer and fall I can join you on the bike missions using a skateboard. You wouldn't think I'd be able to keep up, but I'm about the fastest skater you've ever met.

Anyway.......

The red star is the bus stop, the red blob is the big raised pool, and the blue spot is where we will be playing.

It was pretty awesome, but surely you were there in spirit.
The beach is amazing.
It was so nice out, though I was wishing we had somewhere to play closer to like the sand and people. We got lots of attention at some points, though, which was cool. Footbag makes me feel like a superhero

Andrew and Cassy showed up before anyone else. Cassy is goooooodd! She was averaging, like, 10 tiltless. She had some runs that were surely 20-ish and some guiltless links (reverse whirls BSOS multiple times!!)

Alex brought a friend who said he wants to start coming out, and he was showing lots of potential, but I forget his name.

Camille showed up with some friends and they seemed all excited to play near the end. I remember hearing one say, "We should play every day!!"

I had a few neat highlights:
-3 rotations of far rev whirl > rev whirl [repeat] (so 12 contacts)
-a 73-contact run (and a bunch of, like, 50-ish...)
-pixie same symp rev whirl
-lots of consistancy and my bigger tricks
-20 diving mirages > symp rev whirl
-20 symp pixies > symp rev whirl

I dunno...stuff. I always forget highlights when it's just cool runs and not specific drills or combos that I thought up ahead of time. It was good to see everyone, but people kept saying how it felt wrong that Josh and Mike weren't there. There was a funny incident where Mike came up when some passing guy said something about music, but I don't really remember and Adam can tell it better, I'm sure.

The beach is wicked!!
It was packed!!!!!
I biked at 2:30 and got back home at 8:30ish...so I was basically working out for 6 hours straight, non-stop @____@

That session was awesome, I hit BSOS butterfly which was awesome.

My buddy's name is Nathan and I'm hoping he comes out to more sessions. Ima make him go on modified so he can keep up with all the sessions.

Stereo man story - So, this guy, bout in his 20's, white, kinda built was watching us for a while. I'm pretty sure he was boarding. So anyway, he says that we should get a stereo and do this to music. Adam says "Yeah, but our stereo guy isn't here, he's always here" ...the guy looks at Adam with a blank face and says "You have a stereo guy?" ...I guess it didn't come across quite right. Adam salvaged the initial explanation with "Yeah, he comes out to all of the sessions and has a stereo with him" ...the guy keeps his dumb look and walks away. Which begs the question, what did he think a "stereoman" was? A man made of stereo? A midget with that follows us around pushing a stereo? A guy we hired to carry around a boombox? Either way, he definetely didn't think of a fellow player who provides awesome beats on a consistent basis.

Bottom Line: The session was awesome, but I completely agree with Erik, it felt incomplete without Josh or Mike

Awww shucks!

I had a solo session before work yesterday and could only play 45 minutes before my legs were too painful to continue. Not from injury or anything - just over-use! It's probably a good thing that I didn't come out the the beach sesh. I need to re-coop.

Weeeee! I love the beach!

Great session, lots of cool trickin' and suchnot. Beauty weather, though the wind was a little strong at times. A constant flow of people who were seemingly amazed by our skills. Cassy is making a ton of improvement, and Andrew's form has improved a lot. Camille's friends/nieces seemed really into it, and one of them even managed to land a couple legovers. It seems like the GTA has a huge base of new players, and in the years to come we will have a prosperous and vibrant crew of kickers. Such a huge change from 2 years ago, when it felt like only myself, Camille and Graham were playing on a regular basis. When I get back, I hope lots of new people are stepping up and really working hard to improve their game.

I have worked the last six days straight, which is why I have not contributed to the dialogue lately, especially (and most unfortunately) not in person. I really missed you guys on Saturday, but my shift was 10-7. It's so awesome to see the activity and how well everyone is doing though!

May 19th we should come to Oshawa, if I'm going to drive. Now that summer is here I work one job Wed/Sun and the other Mon-Tues & Thurs-Fri, and one or the other has many Saturdays. I'm going to try and keep the 19th open for a trip. If everyone else wants to go before that some time too I'll miss out but hope you do it.

Other updates: I met a guy in my building who hacks, and IronCladBen has informed me recently of a guy and a girl who might be interested. Adam, you said it. It's time for FAT to explode!

It's pretty wild, I think this is the biggest blog and it was only started a year ago. I would love to come back to visit Toronto some day, it's a great city, I've been there 3 times, I love it. But unless my company sends me on business to our Markham office, I don't think it's going to happen

Does anyone here know any really intelligent or enlightening posts made on modified about footbag?

I'm thinking of adding a 'footbag wisdom' section to the site. I'm looking for more general themes - not good trick tips or things like that. The only three that I can think of right now are Jorden's "21 ways to become a better shredder", Jorden's thoughts on the 3 types of players, and Iron Clad Ben's "strategies for entering hack circles".

There is lots of gold here on modified but it's hard to find sometimes. Let me know if you think of anything. I'll get everyone's permission before using their words on the FAT site.

read ken somolinos' blog. he has really interesting insights to the sport, having been a freestyler for nearly a decade. he's also quite the wordsmith. i can't recall anything in particullar, BUT i do remember him writing something about what makes footbag so great. also, i'm afraid i can't give you any page numbers so good luck with that
