You go about 3-ish blocks East, to University Ave., and then about 7 blocks North, to Queen's Park (ish?). It'd take about 20-ish minutes to walk?
I'm guessing it's going to be packed? Do you guys have a regular Weed March spot?
The beach was amazing. With the weather beginning to get awesome, I am sad that I won't be in such an awesome city for summer shred. Beach shred every weekend? Wow -- our beaches in Winnipeg are at least, like, 40 minutes away (by car). So, like, compared to Toronto's 30-minute bike ride, it would be, like, a 3 hour bike ride in Winnipeg... I don't know -- I'll definately miss beach shred.
Oh, I'll do, like, a writeup, I guess.
I was running a bit late, so about halfway through my bikeride, East on the Lakeshore bike trail, I got a vibe on my phone from Mike. At the next intersection with a red light, I stopped and called him back saying I would be there soon and sorry for being late. He had arrived and nobody was there and he wasn't sure if he was at the same spot as where we had jammed the weekend earlier.
So I continue on my way, and, like, five minutes later I skid to a stop, and giving a second look back I recognize Sam Neal (did I spell it right?). I was all surprised that he was planning to walk all the way to Woodbine Beach, and he kind of explained later that it would be a huge pain to try to walk to a TTC route, way out of the way, and that the course he was taking was out in the middle of nowhere. I told him that Mike was waiting, so I took off and arrived in about 10-ish minutes, like I said.
Mike was shredding already in his bright green FAT shirt. I pulled up, parked my bike, shook hands, and his boombox came to life. I took about 3 turns of decent pants shred before peeling them off and strapping on my stench-ridden-patella-armour.
The day was supposed to be 19 celcius and sunny, and it was. It was a perfect day for shred. Adam arrived after about 15-20 minutes and said he wanted to shred in the sun (opposed to in the shade of the swimming pool complex), a few feet over. It was such a key temperature that Mike had to explain that it was just barely too hot in the sun. Everything had that springy glow -- like a summer glow, but minus the green. There weren't as many people out as the previous Sunday, but as I said, it came in waves, so that when there were people, there were just as many, just not as consistantly.
About half an hour after I arrived, Sam finally showed up. Very awesome shred from everyone ensued. Mike was busting pixie sets like crazy. I saw him hit pixie legover > pixie clipper on multiple occasions, and probably pixie legover > pixie osis (or clipper) on the other side, but I don't remember. There was also one run where he hit either two pixie moves back-to-back, or two op-side pixie moves beesauce, and an atomic move in the same run! I think it was tapping clipper, or tap...one of the two.
Sam was saying about how he wished he could hit longer runs with more bails, like Josh, the superguiltless master (I just added that part) -- this was about halfway through the session. Practically every run after this conversation with Adam, was, like, 10+ contacts. I counted one 20-contact run, and I'm sure there were a bunch of that length or longer. He was hitting some cool tricks too, like backside smudge, a run with, like, 3 double dex moves, I think. paradon > barrage, some smokes....umm, and stuff.
Adam was also on fire with his long, unique shuffle runs. He hits some cool tricks, like, stepping pickup (which I also started trying to do more of recently, due to its awesomeness), tapdown, slapdown, tapping legover, eggplant...as well as the basics, like, dimwalk, and you know. Anyway...he was doing a lot of quantum today -- lots of runs with, like, the toe blurs, or tripwalks, or slapdowns BSOS and stuff. He also did lots of pixie ducking stuff, like, phoenix and alpine parkwalks...he had a run where he almost had all four beesauce -- that's some wicked consistancy on hard moves. We were doing lots of PS mirages too, which are just super.
I started out playing well, and then, like, something happened and I had a crapout for, like, 45 minutes or so. I tried to eat an orange, and then a muffin, and then snap some action photos with my manual Canon...to no avail. Oh, Mike also offered to take some photos of me, which was nice -- inspired by Josh's kind words in one of his writeups, perhaps. Then I broke out the camcorder and after a while, Mike decided to take a break and offered to film and then I got my jive back. I forget most of my highlights, but I played REALLY well on camcorder -- and not crappy "tripod" camcorder either. So I'm even more excited to make this FAT video when I get home, also because this will be the first, and possibly only outside footage... I did some quantums earlier on that kind of cramped up my bad hip for the rest of the sessionm but not too bad. I hit slapping clipper beesauce, which felt styley, I was close to blubberman for the first time in...years, I guess. I also did some PS mirage stuff, like, PS mirage > diving symp mirage beesauce, and spinning ducking clipper > ducking PS mirage beesauce (though may have dropped the sauces on either of these...) I got some cool highlights from earlier sessions on video too, which made me really happy! Pixie ducking clipper > blur [repeat], spinning ducking clipper > mobius beesauce... I don't know...lots of typical rev whirl stuff, I guess...I was trying so hard to try to diversify and do more spinning ducking and symp stuff... I'm psyched for the video, though, 'cause I haven't really seen myself do any reverse whirl stuff yet...that's how long it's been since I've made a video. OH! I also hit this: rev maelstrom > handcatch > flip rev maelstrom > handcatch!
(I guess I sound a little conceited because I wrote the most about me...but I just remembered the most about myself...as I think most people do?... I thought I'd clarify that........)
Yay!
Then we went to some pub, which was pretty neato, on, like, a third floor patio that was killer on the waitresses (she didn't have water, and said she had to go to the basement to get us a pitcher...seemed a little unrealistic...) We ate food, after waiting for a long time in the freezing cold (I forgot a sweater)...but it just hit the spot for all of us, I think (minus Sam, who took off early). Yummy! Oh yeah, there were some ghetto punks wearing, like, shorts down to their ankles and shirts down to their knees, and every time they would pass they would chant, "Who wears short shorts". Usually I'm easily aggrivated, but it was really funny. Adam yelled back, "Who wears capris??" I got a bunch of them on tape.
My girlfriend just asked if I got a tan, so I checked, and then said, "Their arrows blotted out the sun, so we played in the shade!" It wasn't that funny, but I thought I would say...
The end.

Thanks Erik!
It really felt like I was there!
FYI: The meeting spot for the March is near the big horseman's statue in the relative middle of the park.
Cassy: From Union you can take the TTC up to Museum station, it's like a 2 minute walk from there. You'll see all the people who are OBVIOUSLY attending; you can just follow them!

Last year I showed up at around 10:30 am. I plan to show up early again just not sure how early. I will also plan to stay late that day.

I plan to be there early too. maybe 11 ish. I want to play all day! Sadly, I have a previous commitment at night, so I'll have to cut off the hang-out at around 8:30.
Nine-and-a-half hours of shred is enough, right?

I'm there now - in a tent! Posting on modified with my laptop.
So, under the new regime at work, I will be required to work a bunch of sundays a month from here on in. Would anyone mind switching the usual FAT sundays to saturday? Let me know what you think.

Also I have been living in the tunnels underneath the park since the march last year. I am posting this from my cellphone.
