David Clavens - G.R.A.S.S Juggling Show Performance

Not gonna lie, I have a hard time watching other's footbag performances outside of competition. To see someone stand in front of an audience mostly of non-footbaggers and present it to them for likely the first time is hard for me. I get nervous -- I want the sport to be presented in the best possible light. Sometimes if it's demonstrated and talked about the wrong way people think it's lame and the show is in vain. I especially want jugglers to like footbag. They have the capability to get us gigs. If some jugglers take up footbag there is hope for it becoming popular in the entertainment industry.

I clicked along the timeline of the vid, seeing small bits and pieces along the way. And like, 80% saw was you talking. 7 minutes talking, 2 minutes playing. I'm like, fuck. The sport is really vast -- how could he possibly show people how much there is to do and possibly turn them on to it?

Then, today I finally watched it in full.

It....was....perfect. Dude, I was ALMOST IN TEARS at the end! Haha I know that sounds lame as shit.

You barely played, but it was amazing. I got that same feeling that I had when I stumbled across the sport almost 6 years ago. That has NEVER happened before. I...don't know what to say.

Good choice of song too.

I have never seen any footbag player connect to the audience so well. Damn.

Stitch yourself up some larger, brighter and solid-coloured bags. Armed with these you would be unstoppable in stage shows.

Dave, I can see you being a professional footbag player as your career. For 99% of freestylers, I would say no.

See about getting onto talk shows and stuff. I will too.

PS: I actually had a footbag presentation I did at school the day after I saw this video and I used your same progression of teaching and it worked great. It helps them understand what is going on so they can appreciate it more. The whole class loved it.

Great demonstration David. The pace was well thought out. You introduced your self and the sport very well. You spoke clearly and immediately had the attention of the audience. It always makes me smile when people go crazy over ducking clippers, that is now that I know it is not as difficult as it looks. Even so, you performed them in sync with the music and that made it even more impressive. The entire routine was done with just the right intensity. You mike it look like a lot of fun, without making it too simple to be passed off as easy. The audience was very impressed - it can be heard in there many reactions.
