* Federated States of Micronesia
* Palau
* Philippines (formerly d/m/yy. May still be found in certain contexts)
* United States (Although Independence Day is often referred to as "the Fourth of July.")

A majority use the dd/mm/yyyy and another group of nations use the yyy/mm/dd format.

For archival purposes (the most important purposes, obviously...), it only makes sense to record the date in DESCENDING order... It's complete silliness to try to organize information primarily based on the day, and especially the time. If you wanted to find "something", you would need to look through that day for EVERY SINGLE YEAR...

There is no way other than:
Year, Month, Day.

What do you mean by "archival purposes"? If it has any thing to do with a computer then they can just as easily be programmed to look at the yyyy bit regardless of what side its on. If you're talking about a file cabinet then you'd probably have different draws for different years etc. "archival purposes" is pretty ambiguous.

How am I pretending that there is more logic to one system as opposed to another. There IS. I've never heard of a hh:mm:ss:dd:mm:yy or a hh:mm:ss:mm:dd:yy format in my life. The measurement time within one day is kept separate to the measurement greater. With that in mind dd/mm/yy is logically superior.

Go ahead and keep your time as such, I'm debating as to what date format is better in terms of logic.
