Insomnia
Insomnia
Does anyone else have an issue with this?
My sleep schedule got so screwed up over finals that now I don't sleep at all. Maybe 4 hours in the past 3 days. And I feel fine. Haha. It's pretty horrible. The days are endless. What the hell do you people do to pass the time?
I take late walks/drives around the city, play my guitar unplugged (so I don't bother the roommates with my acoustic late at night), started journaling and writing a novel, I read 2 books already. I know there's stuff to do on the internet but I don't really do anything besides check my email. I don't know. Suggestions are more than appreciated for things to distract me. At least until I start my old job again. I'm sure I'll be pretty tired after that. I looked into some solutions for this, but they take time.....which I have too much of.
(Oh, and I don't really want to waste my money on video games)

I used to suffer from this.
I've found the best remedy is exercise during the day. Footbag accomplishes this for me these days. However, I think you're injured right? Then just 20-30 minutes of intense cardio should do the trick too. Get your heart rate above 155 or so, get a good sweat, you'll sleep like a baby when night time comes.
Also, if there is a lot of caffiene/sugar in your diet reducing that can help.

i have this problem from time to time but i take medicine for it now. medicine isnt the best alternative because its expensive and meant for bad cases... but you could try some vitamins. melatonin is a good one.
being on computers late at night and watching tv isnt a smart choice imo. turning off the lights and listening to some quiet music works. also there are certain scents that trigger your brain into calming down. jasmine is one of them.
also, meditation works. try downloading one of those meditations on tape deals. i have a couple of them on my computer and if you really try it then it works. yoga is nice too.

I have this problem all the time, What I do if I'm not sleeping well - I go to the nearest gas station, and buy a huge 24oz Monster or two. Down those, do some intense excersize ( IE working up a good sweat, sore muscles, the works). Make sure you do this in the morning/afternoon, not too late or when you crash from the energy drinks it won't be night, and.. it'll fuck with your system even more.
It's not a healthy way to do it, it's probably not the best. But it sure as hell works. Though, I do not recommend it if you easily get migraines.

As the universe is curved, there cannot be a straight answer...

Pzizz is my lifesaver during finals and my insomnia afterwards. It got me to sleep, and the energizer module got me to power nap and woke me up from my power naps refreshed and well-rested. Look at the website. It's supposed to be some kind of brain wave or something. I don't know if I believe that, but it is good to create a sleep ritual to fall asleep to. It definitely helps distract you while in bed from thinking about things that prevent you from falling asleep.
I liked the trial sample so much, I bought the software. As a student, you get a deep discount on the sleep and energizer modules and it's a lifetime license. http://www.pzizz.com/registerStudent.asp It was totally worth my $20 for both modules. Worked the first time I tried it, and it has continued to work and become more effective as my body gets used to it as routine.
