Does it feel like a muscle thing? Or like bone on bone grinding? Or like something's pinched? Did you take a week off of playing to see if that helped?

If it's behind the knee, there isn't always a simple solution. The main structures that are intracapsular are ligaments, meniscus (cartilage) with smaller structures such as bursa pads, synovial membrane, capsular tissue, etc..supporting and creating the joint. Many times if it's anywhere else around the knee, strengthening / stretching can ease or solve the problem. What activities exactly increase your pain ? A good bet would to go to the doctor and get it checked out. Sometimes if it's directly under the kneecap, it can be tracking problems. The knee cap rides along the femur's groove (trochlear groove) and if there is a misbalanced muscle group, it can sometimes pull the knee somewhat out of track and cause pain.

My opinion though would be to rest it and see if pain resides. Figure out what activities bother it and modify them. If problems persist, see a professional and they can look at it first hand.

I'd also add some generally light stretches to any location that feels a bit tight. IT (iliotibial) band stretches generally take stress off the lateral side of your leg - the band starts as a muscle in the upper lateral thigh, and then becomes a tight fascial band that runs to the top outter part of the tibia and some into the top part of the fibula. I wouldn't necessarily give someone a certain stretch you like without really knowing what is going on. Most likely it won't hurt anything, but it won't really help. I still don't know much about your knee Sathom, so I can't really give you any solid advice other than what has been said above, rest.hackeysnacker wrote:Google some IT band stretches.

well, i guess my pains set in after i learned datws and terrages. so thats the cause im sure, cause i over worked them.
after that, i simply walked around a few stores (walmart, head shop, etc.)
and i had to sit down twice while walknig cause the pains.
i dont really know a knee stretch, but i do what i thnk stretches it.
(touch toes sitting and standing, squat a few times(gently), and hold my foot while standing with knee pointing at ground) i do other stretches before and during a session.
havent kicked in 2 days, but i didnt have pain my last sesh either. it was a soft session. no datws, light pixie training.

INside kicks seemed to hurt my knee im still resting it and taking it lightly over then when i go to soccer. My pain is put ur forefiner on your center of ur knee cap then move it back off ur knee cap just so it's not touching it then a tiny bit to the side that wheer the pain is. I really need some stretches and exercises.

I'm having some pain just below my knee cap. It really hurts after I've been walking, for example: walking from my home to the bus stop then from the bus stop to my class.
I stretch by touching my toes and it helps a little bit, but not fully. Is there anything else I can do.
I haven't kicked since saturday, and it didn't start to hurt until sunday afternoon.

I had tracking problems, just like hood said. My kneecap was being pulled out of place by another muscle or tendon or whatever. I saw 7 different docters before someone actually saw that my kneecap was being pulled out of place, and decided that I needed arthoscopy surgery. I had the surgery like a month ago, and I'm still recovering and doing p.t. I have high hopes.
Rest is the best thing right now.

yeah, my stupidity gets the best of me sometimes
Yeah, I didn't search the forum completely before posting my knee question. You know, the one above this one. People of this forum, and I can understand why, could perceive my action as a sign of disrespect. I meant no disrespect by it. It was just me being scatterbraned and ignorant. Well, hopfully I can get alond with everone at this forum. I lack social skills however. I think I'm going to get my knee checked out at the doctor.

I am having a problem in my right knee. It started about three weeks ago and only hurt when I ran and hiked. About 9 or 10 days ago it started hurting again. It hurt after hiking through the woods and hasn't been better since.
It not even a bad pain, its just weird, it feels like my knee is swollen and it wont bend to its fullest.
I've had a similar problem two years ago, though i can't remember if it is the same knee that is hurt now. This was before i played footbag, but the pain was pretty bad and ended with my knee giving out a few times while skateboarding. Bad stuff.
I don't know what to do, I stretch it, and crack it. It seems to help but never fully. It kind of feels like it just needs cracked by keeping my foot stationary and turning my upper leg. But that does barely anything.
I think it hurts on the sides and underneath, but it is hard to tell since it really isnt a pain. And it doesn't look like my knee is swollen compared to the other one.
Any help would be appreciated.

I have patella tracking issues which have basically prevented me from playing for over a year now. I left my Chiropractor because I didn't feel i wsas going anywhere and I'm currently searching for a specialist to replace her. WHat sort of doctor should I go to?
I've looked up a fair bit on it but I can't get a definitive answer. Is there a way I can get strong enough that I can just play footbag without having to worry about my knee situation getting worse? I tend to leave footbag and just exercise my knees for weeks and weeks and then i'll try footbag and hte pain just comes back again. Its majorly depressing.
