I shouldn't even have to defend myself on this one. In every movie that you see a food fight erupt in, it's presented as a fun and rare occasion. Not something stupid, or ridiculously obnoxious. You're just a boring, party pooper.

Do you seriously base your ideas of the world only on the movies that you see?
No body said anything about their ideas about the world being based off of a movie.

I merely pointed out that food fights are presented as something fun, because that's what they are. Fun.

No, but you succeeded at making my scroller on the side of the screen a few pixels smaller.
mosher wrote:What you aren't grasping is that the food should have gone to keep humans alive instead of thrown on the floor and then put in the garbage.
I grasp this concept very well. What YOU'RE not grasping is that it's not a big deal. It's enough food for one small, itty bitty meal, for 100-120 students.
mosher wrote:You don't need to run factories to make shit for you to use in order to have fun!
In most scenarios, you do. Yeah, you can go out and play catch, but you have to buy a baseball, and a glove.

You can go to a friend's house, but you usually need to drive to cover the distance. Which requires a vehicle, and gas.

There are certainly a lot of things you can do to occupy yourself, that cost nothing. But in most cases, those things aren't exactly what most people would call, fun.
mosher wrote:What happened to playing a game of tag? Want to know how much food is wasted that could have gone to saving lives while playing tag? NONE.
People do that when they're messing around at the mall, maybe burning time while waiting for a movie. When they're just being, you know, stupid. But no one really wants to play... tag. I don't think you grasp just how stupid that sounds. It's not fun, and it's not exactly good at passing time. What happened to tag? It got boring.
mosher wrote:Yeah, I get it that you're mad and want to be able to waste all you want but that is not a sustainable way to live.
Obviously, you don't get it. Because I never said anything like that. I never said I want to waste all I want. I said there's nothing wrong with wasting a little bit. And that's what was done during that food fight. They wasted a little bit of food, but got enough enjoyment out of it that most people would actually pay to be able to do. I'd pay five bucks to be in a huge ass food fight. So no, you don't get it.
mosher wrote:Do you know what sustainable means? It means shit that we can keep doing.
Dick. Shut up.
mosher wrote:We can't keep acting the way that you want to, revving big stupid engines and throwing food on the floor, because the world will stop working and everyone will die. Does that make sense?
Who the hell said that this is the way I act? I drive a suburban... It does not rev... it hums. Why would I rev a suburban? Why would I guzzle the shit out of already expensive gas, when I work barely above minimum wage at 35 hours a week? I never said that revving up an engine is fun, or that I like it, or anything even related to the two. In fact, I think it's really stupid when someone does that. It's a waste of gas, and it's making my gas costs go higher, so he can have his few seconds of fun, because he thinks he's hot shit or something like that. But I don't sit here, and bitch about, because that doesn't do anything, except make you angry, and cause stress.

And throwing food around from time to time, is not going to cause the world to end.

They weren't killing babies... they were having, a fucking food fight.
mosher wrote:I don't get it how this is all so hard for you to grasp. I am not even being a jerk about it at this point, I really just want you to understand the world around you a little better.
I understand the world AROUND ME. You don't. You understand the world around you. And I'm not being a jerk either. You're not grasping my views, and if that pisses you off, well then too bad. I'm not too worried about trying to see your views, because they're your views, not mine. I don't need to see your views to understand my own. And I have no desire, to change mine, because I simply don't care enough to do so. So quit trying so hard.

Whooaaa I said that??

Hey Fred, all I actually really want is for you to start seeing what we see about what you're saying.

You think what you are doing is fine and that there is nothing (nothing is the key word) wrong with wasting a little. The point is that as a civilization we should all strive to not waste anything! There are huge populations of people dying from starvation, how can you possibly claim that having a little fun is worth wasting the food that could have potentially kept someone alive.

It is extremely selfish behaviour. The world is rediculously lopsided between people that are extremely poor and starved and people that have wasteful excess to the point of getting fat. You feel like there is nothing wrong with people getting fat and you being greedy and wasteful since it's a part of your American culture. That is not an excuse, it is just a disgusting reality.

What you would do if you were a responsible human being would be to step back and actually review the big picture. Upon doing that you'd notice that it doesn't make any sense for one culture to get to be greedy and fuck over everyone else and the planet in the process.

We are at a critical period in human existance, one where we are really finally turning around and looking at how we have been behaving and deciding which things are sustainable and which are wasteful and damaging to society.

Wasting ANYTHING (this is the really important bit, I really mean anything) is bad! If that thing, whatever it is, was not needed or did not go to any use then it is a wasted resource that could have gone to better humanity somewhere else but you chose to selfishly negate that possibility.

I feel like you aren't listening to us and like you don't get it. I am not trying to be mean now, I am concerned for you.

What the fuck are you talking about? 35,000 per day = 12,775,000 per year. Can you show me where I've quoted any other number apart from that?

That's such bullshit. I'm so sick of hearing that. What the fuck do you care, if our country has a higher rate of overweight people? What does it matter? I'm not fat by any means. I actually know very very few people that are overweight. That has nothing to do, with anything. It's like saying... I don't like Asians because their houses smell funny.
If I care or not has nothing to do with what we're talking about. We were talking about why people in general are anti-American. Not my own personal feelings. Do you deny that the fact that the US is the fattest country in the world, is one of the things people outside of the US dislike about the US? When you were at school, what did kids think of the fat kids? Well the US is that fat kid.
And you're god I guess. You determine what is rubbish and what is not, right? That can't be stated as fact.

"The US produces more rubbish than any other nation on earth"

You can find another few thousand sources by googling the statistic. I would presume it's calculated by the weight of rubbish collected and deposited in waste storage facilities.
Jeremy wrote:and create more greenhouse gas emissions than anybody else in the world. You hear people talking about the problem with China a lot, but the fact is that China produces about 2 thirds of the emissions that the US produces, despite having 5 times the population. Actually if the whole world produced the amount of emissions per person that China does, we would reduce emissions globally by about 45%.
I doubt this, alot. But I'm not going to argue it, because he's probably got some fuckin' site that made up some statistics, that everyone here will just accept, immediately, because it's on the internet.
You're right. If I do a google search for "emissions per country" I come up with about 4 million websites that support my statistics.
And I think you're an over zealous asswipe who's making a big deal, out of nothing.
Again, I was explaining why people in general feel the way they do, not how I feel. Perhaps you should learn to read?

Lol the death toll was like 2793 or 2973 (one of the two). Not 'much less'.

My apologies. I thought you said 12 million a day.

Oh, you mean waste. Not rubbish, as in shitty media, and absurd statements and what not. The word has a double meaning, so... yeah.

I thought it was around 1600. Or maybe I'm thinking of something else. I'll check on it later.

... Footbags aren't necessary. Those can be used for clothing. Footbag must be a waste. I mean, it's "only" used for fun...
