scientific bag goodness physical tumble exercise

so holly and i did a scientific bag rollyness simulator, complete with scientific equations and some intense calcuation. no bias opinions or bullshit, most of these bags have seen one session. if used more, it is noted.

heres the results of our test.


the bags closest to the left, are least rolly, the more to the right, the more rolly they are, when new (ish)

i will be describing colors, in accordance to stitcher, by least rolly to most rolly.



starting from left edge of carpet.

so there it is, no tampered evedience, and positive results for all. a hemp hacky was used, but rolled so far away, it probably cant be seen!

What are your experiment methods and what is the standard deviation amongst your results?

Yeah, that's a neat test. It's cool cuz you have so many different ones on there.

quite scientific if i do say so.

sloped even surface, some angle, from my shelf to my carpets edge, started at the top of the slope, and let it roll.

results are based on no bag may contact moving footbag, rolling started from the bottom, bags at top rolled last. bags only slid sidways to conserve space, very accurately.

it was fair. i promise. most bags were pretty new, like 1-2 sesh, 1 wash. unless noted.

What's the scale of the picture, 2 feet? 3 feet?

how steep was the slope? how long?
Was the slope textured (like carpet) or smooth (like a book cover)?
Did any of the bags slide down the slope then roll when they hit carpet?

the demolished docbag was the only one to slide, then roll.

it wasnt so steep. probably a foot and 4'' start, with the slope being about 17 inches. carpet isnt really textured, but its kinda patterned. its hard carpet, so it probably didnt make much of a difference in distance rolling.

That neon yellow/green and black bag is definitely hard to break in (the one all the way to the right). I know, because I stitched that one. Plus the fill is sooooo much (filled it to 66.6 grams. )!
