Personally, I don't want to have just the later half of a weekday afternoon to kick, eat and hangout. Whereas on the weekend, we can probably draw more people and play longer.

There's no reason reason to have a smaller jam when Dan is available during the week, though. But, if there is enough interest, then we can have the b-day jam during the week.

Weekend for b-day jam makes sense to me. And having a smaller jam during the week when your buddy Dan is here also makes sense (just smaller because naturally a lot of people will be working/ doing workweek kind of stuff).

Anygay, I was thinking hard about this for the past couple days and I want to come up with some drills to help build better control. A series of simple but practical dills that we can use to warm-up or build a better foundation for some of the weaker players. I'll post some ideas after some more brainstorming...

Control. The single most crucial element in all the footbag disciplines and games.
-you have a left foot, use it
-basic kicks
-guarding the bag
-walking/dribbling the bag forwards and backwards in the square
-walking/dribbling the bag side to side in the square
-walking/dribbling the bag sideways around/within the perimeter, facing the center
-walking/dribbling the bag sideways around/within the perimeter, facing the outside
-spotting while dribbling
-landing shots on all four corners + the center of a target square from various positions in your own square

Defense
-positioning
-knees
-toe digs
-outside kicks
-playing off the body
-better safe than sorry
-baiting
-stopping power shot

Offense
-fakes
-snakes
-double taps/redirects
-body screens
-double teams

great to see the Rav5 again.

good to see workzone get some pants shred in, Merango was rippin it up.

As always Sweet simon, Sparha, min 45, workzone, and merango spanked me in some 4$quare. but i did have a good screen shot! I think min 45 screened, and I shot, and we got Workzone out. Woo woo

too bad i didnt get to say bye to Merango, does anyone know where he was running with that gallon of water?

Cinco de Mustache Review

Nathan mentioned Cinco de Mustache over a month ago, and we immediately started laughing. Such a funny twist when you expect Mayo. So we all grew in our staches for a month. It was so crazy cuz I'd never seen some of my homies with facial hair. Props to everyone who did it. Props to Freddy for buying his.

We rolled up in a sweet rented Rav4 up to Janesville, WI. Along the way I started thinking that I want a weekend nickname. You can be a different person when you go to a different zip code, so why not have a fun name too. We selected severeal choice names from road signs and truck ads. Then we created back stories.

The farm was cool. We played some footbag, and I couldn't hang too much in freestyle cuz my back started hurting a scoatch - not to mention the crazy wind. I wanna play good with Henry soon. I gotta start schoolin - kinda late tonight - I'll do 2 seshes tomorrow! The 4 square was pretty fun. Nathan dominated in one game even with his level 3 sprained ankle.

The Cinco de Mustache spirit was strong. Though FEW people had slick mustaches like the Rav5 crew. But that made us special. It got dark, the bands came on - they were good. So weird that 3 good bands play in the middle of nowhere farm - and such a party happens. Very cool. We got a fire going, and cooked and chilled.

I talked to a bunch of people - they were actually really cool. At first I felt that lots of the peeps there were stuck in a rebellious phaseof dressing and acting weird. The sort of phase that people grow out of in high school. But in fact some just looked the part, but weren't anti social. I think that there's not enough people that are non-conformists in Wisconsin towns to make it a big conformity to make people change from that.

It was bitch cold at night, and I filled my time with tending the fire, food, and talking to piles of peeps. Fun and chill. Good time. Thanks for the invite Nate!

Yeah, I know what you mean... some of the ideas or attitudes of some of my friends are very much stuck in high school. But then there are those of us who have grown up at least a little bit. And then there's the people that are just sort of around but I'm not that friendly with. And then there's Markos.

Yesterday was fun. Zeke, Reile and i kicked at Lane. Squares was alright. but the most fun was freestyling with Reile. Thinking of combos and trying them, and having someone of similar skill as you to do that with is the best. I could do that all day and not get bored.

Today - Loopfest
did anyone else hear about this? All of the downtown loop had shit going on - music, dance, art, etc. What it turned out to be was a bunch of people walking around downtown. That in itself was pretty exciting. Seeing so many people in the loop at night all out to have fun. It looked like tokyo or new york city.

Anywho, so I found 2 big ass hack circles. They were so big I hated them. You could never get the footbag. Everyone was dropping then taking forever to reserve and some peeps were drunk and served jacked up. Anyway, that was only @ Daley Center. The second circle I saw was in front of millenium park. The circle was huge, and though I didn't want to just jump in and be center while i was the stranger - I just did. And I ruled that mofo. In a good way. Just being a bridge. That's how i feel a good center should be. It's not time to freestyle or show off when you're center - it's time for circuits. So I quickly got it around to everyone, and would always pick it up instead of waiting for a drunk ass to try and scoop it on his foot then flick it all fucked up. Everyone got into it. I called several people out for not paying attention (nicely) and our circle got into the groove like a mo.
