Shred: May 12, 2007:

So we had our first Hackrifice jam of the summer, and the first time I've seen my crew since getting home. It was Andrew, Derek, and Scott (though Scott mostly kicked and hung out, 'cause he had surgery recently and was out of it).

It was really fun, though I only played okay. Cement is giving me heck. I definitely gotta pick up some matting of some sort. Andrew also suggested those same things that you suggested, Peng, so I'm gonna look into that some time. OH! Speaking of Peng -- Andrew and I want those Climas! I gotta go post in that thread!

So, yeah, it was pretty cool. Andrew's game is rockin, and super consistant. Derek is rusty, but still awesome (alpine 69, nuclear torque, fearless links, etc). This was the third time he'd played since last Septemeber. He seems pretty into it, so I hope he plays more! He's also playing less WoW, so that may help ;) He was doing some neat bothsided nuclear stuff, like, sumo > pixie sameside clip [repeat], and with smokes, and stuff.

Andrew was pumping out lots of foundational 5s like nothing, like, fogs and bedwetters and blurry whirls and blurry drifters all BSOS in the same strings, and pixie whirls, pixie same whirls, stepping whirls. He was doing, like, stepping whirl > tombstone [repeat], stuff like that. I was asking about stepping ducking tips and they both did multiple ripped warriors. Andrew had backside bedwetter BSOS roll off (and I commented that it looked easier than my bedwetter BSOS... (which I've still never hit, I don't think)) Yeah..

I almost BSOSed double spinning clipper out of nowhere. I definitely gotta do more double spinning, and get that flip better -- that's another concept where I can do it pretty well goodside, but I just DON'T because my flip sucks and I'm stuck in that poser bothsided mentality (and what I mean by that is that I try way too hard to be bothsided and for all the trying I'm really not...) I hit a new 6 both sides -- spinning ducking PS mirage (which I was surprised I hadn't hit before, but I think Andrew asked me about it and then next run I almost BSOSed it first try). And then mostly my typical boring reverse whirl stuff...spinning and stepping and blurry...fars, blah. I need more creativity. I also did more of my, like, ducking symp mirage stuff, which is pretty styley and tough for most people, I think, but, meh... I thought of a few neat combos that I did. I think, like, spinning rev whirl > ps mirage > diving symp mirage (wanted BSOS, but forgot real fast)... I dunno. I had one pretty long run that was pretty genuine...probably 40-ish contacts which was cool.

Yippers.
It's good to be back.
It's gonna be a good, Hackrificey summer.
(I did sport my FAT shirt, though ;))

GET THE MATS. The sooner the better. Your body will love you for it. I can't stress it enough. You will be able to play more frequently and with much less pain (if you are prone to it). GET MATS GET MATS GET MATS! Hardware stores should have them. Search Homedepot.ca for "foam mats"

Great to hear you got Derek to shred again. Sounds like his nuke set hasn't let up in the least.

Cool. Yeah, I'm gonna go window shopping for mats tomorrow. I was gonna check out Home Depot first anyway :)

Oh, Ben, do you know if, like, they're good for outdoor use? Durable? Those foam ones? Do you use them? Do you use them outdoors? They seem kinda pricey on the website... I wouldn't wanna waste the money.

I'm uploading some videos to YouTube.
I'm really not big on YouTube, and I hate when people post videos in the Videos forum, 'cause I like to download stuff -- so unless it sounds like something huge, I don't even bother looking as soon as I see the YouTube link, whereas I download even a newb's "ATW attempt" 5-second video...

My Peng bag is covered in holes already :( After like...3 sessions??? We had a newbie (awesome for a newbie, I should clarify) who did a toe pickup twice on it :(:(:( I suppose that's probably what it's from. I gotta invest in a couple 32s. I like the Peng, so I may buy another from her...maybe a Footfighter too, since I've played with a few, like them okay, and have a bit of credit at Freedom.

Oh, I couldn't not play footbag again today, which was a great feeling in itself. I was pretty beat, but only wanted to do a tame practice jam anyway. I schooled that long osis combo from my challenges thread. I really want that to be a warmup run, or something that I can do, like, at least 3 times, relatively easy, every session. That's the goal. I may play every day doing easy stuff like this until I have a job. I also practiced some "pausing" shred, after talking about Byrin and Montana the other night. I did clippers, and osii...it didn't really click until I tried infinities and then butterfly > pdx mirage > osis [repeat], of which I did two rotations...like pausing a second on each move. Another goal is to be able to do, like, 2 rotations three times every session...and that will go up as I get better... schooling is fun :)

I did a couple neat things too, like, schooled double spinning for about 5 minutes. It kinda clicked, which was rad. But I get dizzy so fast from doing them over and over. I'll definitely hit double spinning rev whirl no prob. I also want, like, double spinning clipper > blurry clipper [repeat], or something, but that's probably a ways off...maybe beesauce to start. I also did a couple rev tomahawks, which were neat. That's pretty much it...

MEFIX adhesive tape. Look it up on the interweb or find a podiatrist or a hospital supply shop. It'll patch up all those holes, washable, extend life of your footbags. I have bags covered in it that I still play with. Better than any glue.

erik, i don't think it was the kid to pickuping it. more than anything i think it was the filler, needs a bit more plastic and a bit less steel in my opinion.

i'm stoked for shred today, but for the love of god, take it easy man! i don't want you breaking your self with daily shred sessions. you just got home, and it's gonna be a long summer!

Gah, just wrote a long thoughtful response and it disappeared. Cliff notes version:

1. Good to see you back and playing well.
2. Looking forward to the YouTube releases
3. I agree with you about true downloadable videos being better than YouTube. Youtube is like junkfood in that it is easier to watch, but the quality and enjoyment is less. Personally, my plan when releasing videos is to always put out the real version first, and then put up the youtube link like 2 weeks later.

Shred: May 17, 2007: (my big brother's birthday)
I had a fun solo session.
I started out with super basics, like, 20 of everything (except osis, 'cause 20 is close to my record, so 10 a few times...) Umm, what else. I schooled a lot of things that I never do, like, reverse swirl, torques (I think I hit two flip torques inna row, which was neato). I schooled mobius a lot. I didn't hit it back to back (I need to practice my zooming out of mobius), but I was pretty close to mobius > blurry rev whirl > blurry rev whirl > mobius (and by pretty close I just mean 2.5 moves... but of course the first two are the tricky part and that seemed pretty on...I only tried a couple times.)
I did some spinning ducking osii, which is REALLY tough! I felt like going for spinning ducking osis > spinning ducking butterfly [repeat] for some low-impact fearless action, but dang that's a lot harder than I thought!

-rubberman with fogs (minus the last butterfly...)
-flip rev swirl X2

Yeah not much to actually write about, but I schooled lots of different things and had some fun. I wanted rev tomahawk > far rev whirl > far rev whirl > rev tomahawk, but I jhave only done rev tomahawk a handful of times... it's hard to school too 'cause of my stupid shins :(

I was really happy with the rubberman with fogs. It was, like, first try, and I don't think I've ever even tried before? I always assumed it was too hard for me and went for the fog > legbeater > ripwalk version... (Which I haven't hit either). I decided to try some flip fogs, 'cause Andrew makes them look SO bloody easy, and, I mean...I'm awesome at stepping and awesome at DLOs...so what the heck. So I just was, like, "I'm gonna hit this easy every time", and I did :) Kinda a shin-wrecker too, though...but I'm good.

Oh yeah, vortex > mobius on my bad hip side was there...I hit the vortex > spin like every time... I dunno. I didn't want to push it, though I did do some blurry drifters too... I wanted blurry drifter > blurry rev whirl [repeat], or just beesauce... beesauce is attainable, but blurry drifter on my bad hip is a really obscure resource... I can't do it very often... don't wanna fuck up my hip...

Oh yeah, and I hit those two things that I wanted to hit every session. Oh man, the mosquitos are getting bad suddenly :( I was scared to stand still for even a second!!

Yeah, that's lots of writing for nothing.
My brother brought home some stuff and asked if I wanted some. It had some funky name and I was, like, "wha?" And then he let me smell it and I was like, "oh yum" (said like Sam Colclough(?) in Freestyle Fantasy). I thought it was just candy, and he asked if I wanted some, and I was like, yeah. And then, I forget how it came up, but he was, like, "Oh, well you inhale it, while you burn it" and I couldn't stop laughing. And then I got a cramp in my side. It turns out it's flavoured tobacco... So I'm going to go smoke tobacco for the first time on my front steps.

When ever I read the word "yum" it's always in Sam's voice from FF. That's the best scene in the movie :D .

Shin splints/Olaf rant
I was just reading older posts in Olaf's blog...
It must awesome to be so...awesome.
It's really inspiring that he went from no toes to EVERY POSSIBLE TOE COMBO (well not really, but, you know...more than I can do anyway...). It makes me really want to school fairy (though that might fuck my knees) and flip pixie. I think I will dedicate a session to that. I feel so sluggish...I always justify it to myself that it's because I'm an older generation player and that seems to be a trend that we progress a LOT slower...but at the same time I know that's garbage. I could push myself and be awesome too... I guess injury is a big part of what's holding me back...but that's just lame excuses again.

I wonder if some people are just way more naturally talented or gifted? (Like homo superior? (I've been reading and playing and watching way too much X-Men...)) I've heard Dave say that he just pushed and pushed... It's so hard to know, though, I mean I used to push SOOO much when I was physically capable of it. Hmm...

Anyway, Olaf's shin splint problem is really interesting too...it kinda gives me hope. Currently that is what is holding me back the most. My knees prevent me from doing certain tricks, and get raw when I do too much high impact, but overall they are pretty okay. My hip on one side is SUPER weak and without being careful that can keep me out of the game for a week or longer. But shin splints... they're just always there and preventing me from doing that ONE thing that kind of keeps my game at a semi-cool level (rev whirls). I'm going to go look in the health section and look into those mata-something ball-of-the-foot insoles that...either Ken or, like, Jon(?) suggested. Yeah. I dunno.

Stupid bloody shin splints.

Weighing potential bag purchases
So yeah. Andrew and I had a jam today. It was crapola. He was playing good, I think. I dunno, it was SUUUPER cold and SUUUPER windy...just poopoo. I've been browsing Modified for hours, because my summer job hasn't started yet and I like to stay up late. I was looking at what people said about their favourite bags. I wanna buy one or two. I've played with a Clavens and remember liking it quite a bit, and I like my Peng, even if it's toast already. I'm also interested in a Holly bag. I also remember Brian giving away a Pokeball-pattern bag, so that makes me wonder if I could score one of those (the ultimate!!!) Umm...what else. Oh yeah, Abshires obviously get a good rap, so I wouldn't mind trying one of those either. My favourite bag ever, discounting the Peng (which I LOVE) was a Trevor Hibbs (a super bothsided player who doesn't play anymore, but had a website where you could order custom designs and colours (RAD designs...))...Andrew gave me a bit of filler for it and I"m going to patch it up and see how it goes. It lasted quite a while.

I'm gonna go draw.
(Oh yeah, Andrew gave me some patching tape -- I'm gonna go fix footbags now!!) Oh yeah, and I was going to try mobius > fog, but then forgot...

Maybe finally getting those shred mats will help your shin splints.

CHALLENGE: get yourself a small drafting table > make it your permanent work space > learn 3-point perspective > draw 3 cubes > 1 cylinder > scan them in > show me.

Bubble Tea (AKA Nectar of the gods, to borrow the colloquialism)
I did some bubble tea catering last night at my brother's birthday party. I made bubble tea for, like, 20 people. It was cool, even though I was standing at the stove for like 2 hours straight (and longer) while everyone else was fake cooking food on Wii.

My brother's friends (and I guess they like me too) own the city's most popular (and best...) Asian *stuff* (though mostly movie rental/sales) store. They are [top-secretly] thinking of implementing bubble tea into their business, especially since the city's only good tea shop ("Double Bubble Tea House" <-- cute!) recently closed down, and my brother thinks they might want me, or something. One of them tonight said something, like, "This is smashing!" So that was neat. My wealthy aunty and uncle in Toronto really want my brothers and I to open a bubble tea shop. They say it would be very lucrative, especially until the market booms [in a small city]...

So that was about 8-10 times more bubbles than I've ever made at once and they turned out perfect.

I re-acquired supplies that I gave my brother when I went back to Toronto at Christmas, like all of the bubbles I used and more, half a jug of Lychee syrup, and a ton of powder flavours. Winnipeg doesn't know what it's missing.

PS: Thanks for the drawing challenge, Mike! I think I know how to do the cylinder...with, like, calculations that you used on that tank drawing you were doing...right? Anyway...I'll try. I hope for more in the future! I miss hacky nights with Mike

Footbag, but mostly not
This was going to be a footbagless post (well, I wrote a pretty long post, and then trashed it, but then came back and had to write about bubble tea (a GREAT post-shred drink, and simultaneously a TERRIBLE PRE-shred drink). Marita happened to be stranded in town for a couple of days, 'cause Greyhound is on strike, and I drove her and her sister to the airport around 5:30 this morning. Marita had a nap, and my brother, Lauren, and I stayed up and talked (I made a lot of Katamari jokes, sang the song a lot (with that great part I love), and tried to roll things) and watched my brother's homevideo of his laser eye surgery (my second time through), where they scrape away layers of eyeball from his eyeball with an electric toothbrush-esque device... In short, that is the reason that I am still awake. I got A&W just as they opened, on the way home. I had to wait 12 minutes for a hamburger, but I'd been craving it all week. I keep getting distracted from talking about footbag; I'm really tired.

...So my point is that I've decided to try an 8AM shred. It would have been cooler to be able to say, like, 6 AM shred, but I've been sitting here writing posts and then deleting them for a while... I was going to not be able to shred today because we were doing my brother's birthday stuff with the family tonight, but it's been shifted to tomorrow, and I'll be too tired to try to organize something with Andrew by tonight anyway, so I'm about to go get my stuff. I should stop writing.

I want to start stitching some time (even though, like, yesterday I told Andrew that I don't think that I will ever stitch...). I got that urge the other night, while looking around Modified for info on good bags to buy. Oh yeah, in a post I deleted (since I'm writing tons again anyway), I said that I'm pretty sure I'm getting a Dave Clavens bag. I also said I also want a Holly, but that she wrote that she's saving her bags for Worlds, or something.

So I'll just edit this if I hit anything, instead of writing even more, after, if I manage to make it outside without falling asleep. Bye. Oh yeah, and I like how someone always writes, "Dear Footblog" in their blog. I think it was Iron Clad Ben...

Shred: May 20, 2007:
Well, it went really uneventfully, but it was fun. I am unbelievably awake with astonishing amounts of energy for getting, like, 4 hours of sleep when I would usually (lately) got more like 24+...
I hit like one thing I remember, which was way harder than it should have been: far rev whirl > torque [repeat]. Meh. I did a bunch of torques, some swirls, lots of pdx torques (though mostly just, like, pdx torque > handcatch.....) I pretty much played, like, 2.5-3 hours, and 2 hours of that was spent NOT hitting marius... AHHRRG. Well, I tried a couple times early on, and it seemed possible, so I kept going for it, and well...no dice. I need to read the trick tips forum on this. And pdx torque. Pdx torque feels awesome -- and it's easy on my shins! Not awesome as in easy, but awesome as in it's an awesome trick that I hope to be able to do semi-consistantly soon-ish... Well, on a positive not, mobius seemed a MILLION times easier after trying marius for 2 hours straight...
I even tried to pretend that I'm Olaf and can hit anything...
...but it didn't work :(

Well that's about the longest thing I've ever written. I get really, REALLY energetic and jittery when I'm sleep-deprived. I should make bubble tea and play We <3 Katamari. I like how my We <3 Katamari thread didn't get moved to the Arts forum, but that other guy's mock, "I <3 Aphex Twin" did... I guess he was trying to be witty and didn't realize that We <3 Katamari is the name of the game...not the name of a thread for people who love Katamari. I guess it also didn't get moved because the mods have no idea what it is either. Such is the manipulative power of Katamari.

(Well, here is the intro to We <3 Katamari, with the song that I love, but JUST when my favourite part starts, the guy who ripped the gameplay onto video started selecting saved games and the great part of the song loses its greatness :( But it is still okay... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2H2behIPkvA )

Yes, I have both soundtracks.

Tom used a Katamari song for his NYJ video, but he hasn't released it yet and I won't because it's not my place to do so. You'll just have to wait. :)

Sorry that bag has holes. I've learned many things since that bag. Alas. Save your funds for worlds so you can touch and feel an array footbags to consider and purchase.

Wow! Thanks for the song!
I just like the part before the instrumental starts -- I love the guy just hum-singing :)

No worries about the bag. It is frustrating that it is so beat up now, but I've got to say that until now it was the best bag that I have ever played with!! It is CHOICE for me -- perfect weight, perfect feel, and perfect colours! Also, I think your's and Tom's plan to ween me off of sandbags worked, because I am very eager to buy more 32s now!! Thank you so much Peng! Actually I PMed Dave Clavens about buying a bag, and he asked me what specifications I wanted and whatever and I basically said, "Make me a Peng bag" ;)

Umm, oh yeah, mini-annoucement!
I got footbag mats!!!!
I was reading Tom's blog and saw that he bought foam mats from WalMart. I PMed him asking exactly which he got and then immediately drove to WalMart and got the exact same ones in the exact same quantity!!! (8 square feet = perfect shred area!) I played on them for about 10-15 minutes, but my legs were toast from playing so much yesterday, I guess. I will definitely (I recently learned that I've been spelling that word wrong for ages...) write about how good/not good they are after I've played on them a bit.

Hooray!
Thanks Tom!

Oh yeah, Asmus, my computer is still down, so no videos for a while still... Oh yeah, I was going through the footage before though, I forgot about that! I'll watch more -- leave me with less work to do when I have a working system... I feel silly writing sso much again without writing about footbag. I hit a handful of paradox torques today semi-easy...that's about it...I had just about zero energy. I'm also a little sleep-deprived and dirty. Gonna go bathe now. Bye bye.
Oh, I also hit either 3 or 4 times of ducking clipper > rev swirl, which was neat. I'm EXCITED to get good at pdx torques!

PS: I confirmed staying in Johnny Suderman's shred house at Worlds, bunking with Andrew grant :) I am now going 90% (Still waiting on my passport, and haven't looked into flights to Florida yet... but of course if for some reason I can't make it I will still pay Johnny for the house... hoping it doesn't come to that).

That's the real reason it wasn't moved.

Mats could be good, but you can't take them everywhere, and if you're at a tourney, there's no guarantee that you will play on that kind of surface. Metatarsal insoles on the other hand, are in your shoes all the time. It takes a couple sessions to get used to them, but I swear by them. The worst part about them is that they slide around, but I found that thumbtacks keep them in place, along with an extra insole (normal) on top of them.

Good luck with your health. I'm really happy you made it back from injury and are playing so well. Hopefully we can meet at Worlds; its strange to me that we've both been in the scene so long and never met.

Shred: May 23, 2007:
Had a sweet Hackrifice session, Derek, Andrew, and myself. I didn't tape, but whipped out my digital still camera to get a MOTW video, which I want to start back up again and maybe revive our website. So the MOTW is backside bedwetter, by Andrew Grant. I will post in Videos when I put it on the computer later. Here are highlights:

Derek:
-void BSOS, ending run on marius
-sumo > parkwalk [repeat] > pdx tap > dimwalk [repeat], and matador > barfry > matador in the same run (and maybe some other nuclear moves)
-matador > barfry [repeat]
-vortex > void, and a bunch of nuclear same run (like, probably matador and sumo BSOS-ish...)
-blurtigo > alpine matador attempt (he's hit them in the other order before)
-lots of other insane stuff. LOTS of nuclear. janiwalkers, and 69s..

Me:
-vortex > void (right after Derek's), on the side that I haven't hit vortex > mobius yet :)
-far rev whirl > spinning rev whirl [repeat]
-rev tomahawk + spin rev whirl both BSOS
-mobius > blurry rev whirl
-blurry rev whirl X 8
-pdx tap > pixie clipper [repeat] (inspired by Derek, obviously...we all tried nuclear...)
-some other stuff (oh, and incredibly pulled marius where I didn't even spin on the torque -- I refused props on that one >___<And> tombstone [repeat], and then blurry whirl > blurry drifter BSOS, and like bedwetter BSOS, or something, all attached with unique shuffle stuff... Something like that. Oh, he also had fury BSOS roll off, I think.. and the backside bedwetter was close BSOS.. (somehow my face triggered HTML and messed up Andrew's section...)

I'm also going to post some non footbag pictures, since I took some before, and I'm going to put that little MOTW video online tonight anyway.

Now I'm gonna go mix my bubble tea, and maybe play some PS2. Oh yeah, so Derek playing, like, 2-3 times a week is going to be SICK. I already notice a HUGE improvement. Watch out footbag -- Derek's back @_______@ (I think it's easy to tell from the highlights, since this is about his 4th or 5th session in a year...)

EDIT: Oh yeah, thanks Ken. I will look into those insoles sometime, I hope (I'm REALLY REALLY bad at procrastinating (it took me over a week to get all of my passport stuff together, and I still haven't gone to the passport office place (hoping tomorrow...))) As for carting mats around, I am actually hoping to craft some sort of holding strap thingy to wrap around the mats, and maybe strap to my back like a backpack... I'm thinking that they're...maybe 10-20 lbs? That shouldn't be so bad. My bag is probably close to that when I fill it up with footbag gear anyway... Although maybe aerodynamicity could be an issue... especially on a windy day. Hmm. Well I'll try to graft something outta, like, duct tape some day and maybe walk around with it for a while and see what's up.

EDIT 2:
Well, I posted the video in the Videos forum, and I've uploaded those non-footbag photos. Another update is that my brother(s) and I are semi-seriously looking into starting a bubble tea shop. We looked up info on writing a business proposal and did a sort of rough draft, which is basically just some notes on every aspect of what we need to think about. It should be wicked...it would be awesome to do this for a few years :) I love bubble tea. But anyway, here are those pictures. They're of my room. I am particularly fond of my comics, of which there're a bunch :)

Oh yeah, warning: Lots of pictures!
Image
My door, with four hanging bags, a towel, and a suit in a bag, and another suit jacket. A drawing over my lightswitch, and some inappropriate writing all over the walls.

Image
I drew an evil BigBird over the happy, sleeping BigBird lightswitch thingy. There's also a children's counting poem thing that I made look evil.

I bought this bag for $100 at Club Monaco (or however you spell it). I really like it. The drawing on the left is Scott Pilgrim, by Mal (a movie is in the works by the guys who did Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz...), and on the right is a last-minute robot guy by my friend Mike Faille. (Oh, and a KICKASS pin! -- only footbag pins allowed!...)

Image
This is my bag from four generations of bags ago. I got lots of nice comments on this little drawing/painting thingy I drew. On Asian girl who worked at the movie theatre flipped out over it 8) I also like how I did my signature upside down on it.

Image
West wall. I just bought those shiny white pillow cases -- they're really comfy.

Image
A painting of Spectre by Alex Ross. I was in a real Alex Ross Groove for a lot of years. I have all of his huge tabloid-sized comics too, which are hard to display because they are HUGE. They're in my dresser with a lot of other cool, top-secret stuff.

Image
Mostly art history textbooks from school. There are WAY more of these in my dresser too. The big shiny gold one is wicked -- it's like history from the dawn of time (that little Venus of Willendorf or whatever? Or earlier, or something... Then there's SouthEast Asian, and then Ninteenth-century European, and Medieval (AWESOME!!), and some oldschool books about comics that Marita's parents gave me as presents, well, actually, one from my parents too. Then all six yearbooks from highschool. And some free catalogues from a school that I really wanted to go to in Minneapolis (MCAD). Oh, and Marita's old Cosmo magazines under the nighttable.

Image
Elder Scrolls stuff! That's Morrowind on the far left, and the commemorative coin from the Oblivion Collector's Edition -- it's awesome.

Image
A drawing of Marita on the wall. I made a video of me drawing this. There's probably a link, like, a million pages back in my blog. I only noticed now how big her forehead looks. I always just see it really big in my room...it's like twice the size of my head or more... It doesn't look too much like her.

Image
South wall. My bed, and window with more cute lovey writing from my girlfriend. A hanging fluffy frog, oh, I think that's a Yin Tze (shuttlecock) in the right corner of the window sill.

Image
The other half of the wall.

Image
Another Alex Ross poster. Oh, the other one my brother got me for my birthday or Christmas one year. This one I think I bought myself.

Image
These are my footbag mats. It was really hard to find a place in my room to keep them. I think this is good, though. Headphones and also the headphones that prevent noise (like for drumming), and a box of Marita's stuff that I have to mail her when she remembers to tell me to.

Image
My sketchbook, and an Oh My Goddess, and my toothbrush.

Image
The North wall.

Image
Bike stuff: pump, and WD40, and special bike oil wrapped in a cloth, and another big red rag on top, and some tools in a pouch thingy.

Image
Comics. I'm so going to list them all: The Fountain (Darren Aranofsky + Kent Williams), Romp (Adam Pollina), Batman Child of Dreams (Kia Asamiya), Appleseed #1-4, Dominion, GITS, Orion, Record of Lodoss War (something-Ono...Yoshihiko?), The Hobbit (Charles Dixon), Witching Hour (Chris Bachelo), Sin City BBB, Squee, JTHM, and the single issues of that other book he did... Savage Dragon TeamUps (with Joe Madureira story!), Crimson #4 (Humberto Ramos), Dangergirl Odd Jobs, Akiko #1, Bone #1, X-men Visionaries (Joe Mad), Jennie One (or something, by Becky Cloonan), Hellboy (all of the collections so far), Kingdom Come (Alex Ross), Marvels (Alex Ross), Uncle Sam (Alex Ross), Dirty Pair Fatal but not Serious (Adam Warren), other small unimportant stuff, Powers #1-9, and some Batman classics collection. (Oh yeah, and the big box set on the super left is the Complete hardcover Calvin and Hobbes, which was my Christmas present from my parents :))

Image
Unfinished painting of Marita.

Image
Me.

Image
East wall, part one.

Image
East wall part two, with flash!

Image
Books, and juggling balls in my closet. These are mostly school readings. The Monk was INCREDIBLE, as was Frankenstein. Angels and Demons was also good, but not for school. The book on the furthest left is a really geeky project of mine. It's half of the books that can be found in Daggerfall (complete versions). I read all but the longest story -- they are all amazing. The Lyrisius story that I'm doing a comic about is from this anthology. My brother bound it for me.

Image
My camcorder case.

Image
Camcorder and, like, 30 tapes stacked in order on top of each other. The ones with papers sticking out are the ones I watched when I got home from Winnipeg, and those are the times of cool stuff that's going into videos I will make. There are two 5-hour batteries and adapters and stuff.

Image
A Fantastic Four poster by Chris Bachelo, behind clothes in my closet.

Image
All of my old single issue comics, and a couple years worth of Wizard magazine in the top left. Lots of frog stuff (I love frogs): a piggybank, a stuffed frog from when Marita first moved to Toronto (it says, "Someone from U of T loves me" :)), and a...thingy that my brother got me for Christmas.

Image
More comics!! Lone Wolf and Cub 2100 #1-3, two Sam Hiti books, GITS 2 Manmachine Interface, Pokemon #1, Patlabor #1-2, Blade of the Immortal #1-17ish?, Oh My Goddess #1-3ish, Gunsmith Cats X3, Star Wars manga X14, FSC's Nightmares and Fairytales #1, Slop, Lost at Sea (Mal), Hopeless Savages (Mal), Scott Pilgrim #1-3 (Mal), Frankenstein (Frazer Irving -- wicked, and true to the original!!), Dracula (Becky Cloonan -- also true to original), East Coast Rising #1 (Becky Cloonan), Sharknife #1 (Rey), Gunsmith Cats Omnibus #1 (Kenichi Sonoda), some X-Men collection, 2 old Dragonball mangas in Chinese, and some Christian comics. Then 3 Ashley Wood art books, Popbot #1+2 (Ash Wood), Tiempos Finales (Sam Hiti), Akira #1-6 (Katsuhiro Otomo), Essential X-men #1-2 (John Byrne), Batman TLH + DV (Tim Sale), Batman Hush #1+2 (Jim Lee), Daredevil #6(?) (David Mack), Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser (Mike Mignola), Steampunk #1 (Chris Bachelo), Lore #1+2 (Ash Wood), Hellspawn (Ash Wood), Rose (Jeff Smith and some guy -- bone prequel -- wicked!), Complete Metal Gear Solid (Ash Wood -- stoked for Sons of Liberty!), Complete Dangergirl (J Scott Campbell), Mike Faille books, Maus, Complete Bone (Jeff Smith), Empowered (Adam Warren), Domu (Otomo), Demo (Becky Cloonan), and then a bunch of old superhero novels to bookend everything.

Image
My map of Cyrodiil... also passport stuff to go out today!

Image
My MP3-player discman and my phone.

Image
Another drawing of Marita on my wall, but it looks more like a friend of hers, which is kind of weird that it's on my wall...but it was supposed to be her..

Image
Hacky sacks! A bunch of cuddles, and my Peng, and two Carols, and lots of Mr. Sandmans, and stuff..

Image
Hearts! I drew one for every single day we've been going out. There's more around the corner, and this was only up until we left for Toronto about a year ago. More to be updated soon.

Image
Yeah, there's lots. The big ones are for anniversaries. They're also bigger when I felt really happy that day.

Image
Batman by Jim Lee

Image
Superman by my favourite artist, Joe Madureira!

Image
My disgusting knee braces sitting out to dry...

Image
More comics in my closet. Mostly, like, every Tintin, and lots of Asterix, and...other stuff? Some crappy Astroboy book that cost $50 that's in Japanese :?

Image
All of my university notes in those printer paper envelope thingies...lots of notes... Oh, that purple binder is also all those old Marvel Comics collector cards. I had an entire set from, like, 1992, but traded some to my cousin, stupidly :?

Image
Hacky sacky videos. There's another row behind these.

Image
Spider-Man posters that my best friend from highschool gave me, one each every year for my birthday.

Image
The outside of my door. There's an evil version of this superhero cow I drew in highschool (Garfunkel the Wonder Cow), and some crappy graffiti thingy that says "Hackrifice", and some cryptic writing in a spell-like pattern on the top, and some grey guy, oh yeah, that's supposed to be me. I don't know why his legs are different sizes, but I thought it was cool. And one of those stickers from DVDs that says security device enclosed. Oh, and a drawing by this girl that I liked who ended up introducing Marita and I, and who is also our collective best friend, but more hers now. That's the scribbley thing on the bottom.

One of my coworkers from Toronto just emailed me these pictures she apparently took at Weed March :)

Image
From right, Jon Haber in white cut-off, Adam Greenwood playing, then Johnny Suderman in FAT shirt, and me hidden behind the guy in a black shirt and hat (you can see my braces).
Image
My friend, Maria, and me playing in the back, and Johnny on the right. (And awed spectators 8)
Image
From left, Joel Lackey, Alex V, Andrew Langstaff, and Cassy Taylor (and a hacky slacker?
